The first swell of Autumn rolled through on March 13 . With almost non existent sand on the point it's evident that this wave is lacking those tiny granules that compress and fill in between the cracks and crevices of the reef to create those perfect sand bottom barrels at Supertubes. Ethan and JJF are the benchmarks for smooth on-rail surfing. JJF can do it in the really big stuff but Ethan not there yet - but I prefer EE’s style and flow.

31ft at 19 seconds were the buoy readings at the peak of the swell. If you were an avid surfer or surf fan that would be common knowledge. The actual size of the waves on the day was debatable... Highly respected local opinions ranged from 8ft to 15ft so your 10ft is pretty accurate also ✌🏼✌🏼

Real good. Got it bigger than that in 1981 with 8 guys. I was just some Yank from Morro Bay who had really good timing. Nothing but the J Bay hotel then. Stated in a little room for three weeks with a veiw of Magna Tubes. Stayed in that country for Three Months. Love S.A. And the people there. Thanks. Nothing beyond Double Overhead Plus Footage? I don't know about "Biggest". Just sayin.

I'm guessing the swell angle and wind made the top unruly. People don't know how head high spots on huge swells still punch and throw water around.
So difficult in the wind that day...Gale force gusts...yes the top section was pretty hectic ...Twiggy Baker said he saw a set roll through up there that was 20 ft Hawaiian
