Hello, my friends.
This is Cosmic and this is the fifth song of Amicus Astra. We continue switching up genres as we have a synthwave track now! Synthwave is a blast to produce and FLEX is so good for it. Most if not all of the synthesizers used were FLEX and most of the drums were classic drum machine samples I got from reddit a while ago. Sounds nice to me! I would recommend changing the synth brass sound you're using for a lead in the second half, I think the attack should be simplified instead of what appears to be a filter/pitch automation, kind of makes feel out of place to me. I will say it kind of lacks life: more variation in small details would also go a long way, I recommend listening to professional tracks of the same or similar genre and noticing the little things they do to make the track feel more alive and changing. For example, while this guy doesn't do jungle specifically, does do similar style of dance music that originated in relatively the same time period. I recommend noticing the little details, and how all the many small things that change and modulate throughout the track, giving it a lot of life. Yes!!! 😁Thanks for the comment man, this is the kinda in-depth advice I was hoping for. I get what you mean about the slow attack on the synth brass' filter cutoff. Do you think having a faster attack is a good resolve or a different instrument altogether would help? And yeah, more variation is def a must. I think that's one of the aspects of production I still struggle with the most-- having fresh variations that don't feel out of place.
