MAJOR Life CHANGES Ahead! Will It IMPACT My KNITTING?
Просмотров 5814 дней назад
This vlog is a bit off the cuff. I show off all the knitting I've been working on, including progress on the Glowhair Frost Shawl by Stephen West. I talk about why my socks were too big and how I'm correcting that and what I've been designing. I received a gorgeous handmade drop spindle for my birthday! Of course, I also give you a life update because big change is about to take place. Like, Su...

It's 2025, WHY Can't We Filter Discontinued Patters on Ravelry?
Просмотров 233Месяц назад
In my effort to research knitting projects for 2025 it became very obvious that Ravelry still has one giant flaw. You can't filter out discontinued patterns. In other news I show off my WIP the Glowhair Frost Shawl by Stephen West. We look over my newest yarn from Hue Loco and discuss the now released Norwegian Purl tutorials. Take advantage of the Hunker Down sale from 1/4 - 1/8. Get 15% off a...
Master The Norwegian Purl In 2025 - Knitting Tutorial For Beginners!
Просмотров 104Месяц назад
The Norwegian Purl is not as complicated of a knit stitch as some make it out to be. Using this method for purling allows you to keep the yarn to the back of the needles rather than needing to bring it forward. It is used commonly across Scandinavia by those using the Continental method for holding their yarn. It is how I purl 99% of the time. I struggled so much with the standard purl stitch u...
KNITTING On A Cozy Arizona WINTER Morning

Well, I didn't hit my knitting goal by finishing that scarf/wrap, but that's okay. I just really need it done by the 26th. I also didn't get any crochet in yesterday. Today (Dec 22) is my Middle Child's 25th Bday, so this is a combined vlog of the 21st and just advents from the 22nd.
Beautiful Yarn from Stephen West PLUS Homemade Meatballs & Sauce!
Просмотров 17Месяц назад
The day went a bit sideways. I was going to both knit and crochet but I ended up running around town and then making homemade meatballs simmered in my homemade canned sauce. It's fine though, I'll just knit this evening after dinner. Thank you all for joining me as we start to wind down vlogmas 2024! I hope you subscribe and stick around for the regular vlogs, or check out the tutorial playlist...
You HAVE To See This GORGEOUS New Hue Loco Gradient Set!!

Vlogmas is still going strong. Today I was surprised by this amazing yarn showing up so quickly. I think I already know what I'm going to knit with it. I worked on the crochet blanket more today. It's getting heavy and that is taking a bit of a toll on my shoulder and neck so I really may have to limit the amount of time I'm working on that project going forward. Thank you all for joining me!
Is It Really Possible To Have Too Many Candles, Wine, or Chocolate?
Просмотров 17Месяц назад
Okay so, apparently I don't drink as much wine when I knit and crochet as I thought LOL. Also, why do the candles smell so nice. Buy 3 get 3 free...YES PLEASE!

Freezer space has been made so maybe now I can get back to knitting and crochet. Technically I still have some "Normal" Cranberry Sauce to can still but that won't take much work. Crochet is what I'm trying to get done right now on this blanket! After watching this, you may wonder what King's Sauce is. King's is a now closed restaurant in Petersburg, VA. They do still do some pop up events if y...

Thank you for the free patterns! Congrats on the new home!!!
Thank you so much! And you're welcome :)
Congrats on the new job and finding the perfect house!!! Those socks look so comfy!
So nice video ❤ big support 👏🏼🧶
Thank you so much!
Congrats to your daughter for her driving accomplishments! Good luck on the job hunt!
Thank you so much! My interview is on Wed.
It’s a little clunky, but you can filter out discontinued patterns. On the availability, click discontinued, then click on the "How should these filters relate?”, select “Not: exclude all of these."
Thanks I'll give that a try. When I looked it up it said I couldn't do it.
oh wow he did better this year lol. I got the kit last year but he didnt do a cast on and there was no signed pattern it was all digital
I agree. He treated this years much more like his annual knit a long and the pattern is beautiful and relaxing (If you don't mind lace). I'm getting ready to record my next vlog today to release tomorrow and I'll show off my progress.
Maybe an orangey red colour for the top of your lovely blanket to represent the blazing sun ❤
That's a great Idea! Thanks!
Mmmmmm Meatballs
They ended up a bit dry unfortunately. But the flavor is good.
That yarn is really pretty! I really like the 2 green ones.
I'm really happy with it! I just wish I realized how many yards there were in these LOL. I had to pay shipping twice because I needed to go back and get another skein so I have enough to do anything with. There was enough for a cowl but those are just too hot here in AZ. Wraps are okay because you can easily make more space around your neck with them or slip them off. It was 84 here yesterday and 78 the day before.
That hot chocolate looks tasty
It is. I don't make it that often though because it's really sweet.
Hello! Love the colours of your blanket. The Stephen West box looks interesting too 👍👍
Thank you me too! The Stephen West box is a lot of fun.
Got the 8m needles at HL but didn’t get a chance to look at yarn. You’re really inspiring me to start canning.
Awesome! Both are productive hobbies to have.
Your grandmas advent calendar is precious!
It really is. It's always fun.
I hope that your finger heals soon!
It's already feeling better which makes me both surprised and happy because it really stung and hurt there for a day. Guess I did the right thing to heal it up.,
Well, Walmart did not have the supplies so I’ll be going to Hobby Lobby sometime (hopefully) this week.
Bummer! Hobby Lobby will for sure have this stuff. Sometimes walmart does and sometimes they don't. They tend to have the cotton, but maybe not the needles you are after or the stitch markers. Unless they are sold out, Hobby Lobby should have this stuff. They have their own line of yarns which are decent and pretty affordable also.
I’ll be buying the knitting stuff today, if Walmart has it!!! I hope you had a nice relaxing day off!!!
I’m glad your headache healed!
Thanks! Me too!
Lots of yummy turkey left overs!!
There is! I'm turning the bones into broth today. I'll probably have to freeze some of the Turkey.
Your cat was getting ideas about pouncing that bottle lol.
Lol right! His name is Sir Benjamin. He belongs to my son. He's a pretty good cat.
That is one tasty looking turkey!
Thanks! It was good. We had leftovers last night. Today I'm going to roast the bones for broth to can.
How much is a tech editor?
@theokiestitcher This can vary a lot on the person and pattern. Most charge by the half hour or hour. I have a pattern that has charts and written directions both, due to it being lace, which was over $60.00. I have another that is much more simple, which was around 25. Keep in mind I average around 5.00 a pattern. Then PayPal takes a cut, and if it sells really well, ravelry or the hosting site will also take a cut. So after PayPal, I make around 3.50 on a 5.00 pattern, and less if the host site takes some. Considering the hours of work, the yarn expense, and then the tech editor, most designers are very lucky to even get out of the red.
@ it doesn’t sound worth it to me. Would you have to do all that if you sold it on Etsy or something like that?
@@theokiestitcher Any time you sell a pattern, and not the finished product, (unless it's super easy) it will require a tech editor. You are charging money for a product. That product needs to be accurate, in an easy to follow format, and contain all the required materials and stitch abbreviations. Even the most practiced pattern writers use tech editors and many tech editors use other tech editors to go over their own patterns. It's just so easy to miss a stitch or typo a number and like most things, if you look at your own work long enough, you never catch things like that. Messy, inaccurate patterns will give you a pretty bad reputation. I wish I was perfect enough to never make a mistake in my pattern writing but unfortunately that's not the case :) LOL.
This video is going to get several views from me as I ensure I get what I need lol.
Go get the printout from the website and download it to your phone :) thank you for watching!!
I look forward to your tutorials
I'm excited to make them! I'm working on "the items you will need" video now.
Just followed on IG! Beautiful shawl! After I get settled in my new house, I'd like to play around with starting crocheting. I got hooks and the yarn bowl but no yarn yet lol. Can't wait to see your knit a long turns out!
Thank you! I'm going to do Crochet tutorials after the knitting ones. There are a lot of them out there already though. You just have to start and I'm sure you can accomplish it!
I enjoyed hearing your story behind the Winchester house memento WIP. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
If you ever get the chance you should visit the Winchester House. It's unfortunately kind of expensive but worth it and I'm sure the upkeep on the house itself is extremely expensive.
@MixedTapeFiberArts I'm sure. I would totally pay it especially if there's a guided tour or ghost hunt.
I hope you feel better soon 🙏
Thank you!!
The shawl is looking amazing!! So sorry you and family have been so sick! Please don’t overdo, rest up as best you can and drink lots of water, which I’m sure you are doing.
Thank you so much for the well wishes. We are on the mend!
I’m glad you’re feeling better better, even if it’s not 100%. Nice triangles
Thank you!
Hope you feel better soon! HAM radio sounds like fun! Pretty knits as always!
Today is Saturday and I'm starting to feel better. I'm putting up a new episode now and hopefully by the last Vlogtober episode I'll be pretty back to normal. HAM radio is fun and most importantly when cell phones and computers don't work, my radio will (even without power because I have a battery back up for it). They relied heavily on it during and after the hurricanes down south because a lot of places are remote and all other services had gone down.
That canned chicken looks really good. I dabbled in canning pickles when I was 4-H but I’m gonna have to expand my horizons lol. Dang kid activities. Always getting in the way 😹 jk.
Oh you should! Just make sure you are using safe recipes. Anything from Ball or a University Extension office will be safe. I use a Ball recipe for the chicken. It's "Raw Packed" and then I just add some of the dried seasoning called "The Blend", which is a mix of Salt, Pepper and Garlic. It's a lot tastier then buying canned chicken for sure.
Migraines are terrible. I used to get ocular migraines. They weren’t painful but I would loose all vision for hours. The only thing that reset it was sleep. I (on my own cause doctors just said to take Excedrin Migraine) finally figured out that hydration was what was triggering them. I haven’t had one in over a year because I am now meticulous about my hydration. I’m glad to hear that you are working with a good neurologist to create a good treatment plan. You still made a lot of pretty progress!
I'm so glad you figured out what was causing yours and that they are under control. Ocular migraines are incredibly annoying and frustrating to deal with. I meant to mention in the last comment that I used to cross stitch but stopped when I had my 2nd child. It's just too confusing for me to pick up and put down again so I set it aside at that time. Then I took up crochet and then knitting afte3r my daughter was in the NICU and that's the end of that.
@MixedTapeFiberArts I can see that. Cross stitch takes more attention unless the outline is done and it's just fill in. I bet crochet and knitting is better for those types of stressful situations cause your hands can work without looking at it after a while.
@theokiestitcher exactly 💯
I’ve binged your videos from start til now. I’m a cross stitcher so some of the knitting stuff is a lil over my head but I’m still enjoying it lol. What is putinesca sauce?
So sorry I just saw your comments! I've been down with Vid. I'm glad you are enjoying them. Puttanesca is an Italian tomato sauce. Traditionally it's diced tomato, anchovies, lots of garlic, olives and lots of olive oil. You can't can oils safely, so I use a tomato sauce base and add olive oil when I re-heat it.
Ha you can peep the D&D board in the background. Awesome!
100% promoting the hobby LOL
