Nobody models wall by wall in Sketchup. There's no point in even comparing it to Blender. When we can import a floor plan into Blender and create the faces of all the walls of the building, then just extrude the wall to the required height with a single command... only then will we be able to make a comparison

In an orthographic view, how can we select the closest vertices when using the measure tool? I find sometimes it connects to the closest, but other times it connects to a vertex that is further back - giving the wrong measurement

As an archicad user and interested in learning blender is there anyway to only link the IFC file instead of import or open? Lets say I want the capabilities of blender for rendering and if necessary make modifications to my archicad ifc file and then relink this file with the new modifications. Is that possible?

don't overcomplicate things, Blender is all about shortcut keys - extrude is simply E + axis + length (or minus for negative direction) - also, the native dimensioning tools in Blender suck (and don't render), so you need addons if you're going to want to render to print

What if i already have an add-on that i have in system already.

This worked very well for me. Thank you. Somehow I can't open imported fbx. and collada formats from Sketchup in Blender. Obj. works fine, but it doesn't preserves hierarchy. Not sure if other people have experienced issues with exporting fbx. to Blender. Blender shows an error message when I am trying to open the fbx file - ( ASCII FBX files are not supported )and with the collada file, it just goes forever to download and I eventually have to"end the task" in the task manager. If anyone experiences the same or found a solution, please let me know.

This is painfully slow to watch, about a million clicks later and you've rotated the object precisely, coming from Sketchup and now getting into Blender, I'm frustrated it's this hard to rotate an object precisely... I know there are addons to make this much faster, I'll be hunting for the fastest way. Please let me know if you know of a much faster solution then this, would love to see it and I'm sure a great video update.

As a long-time C4D user, it's the lack of a dedicated and SIMPLE asset browser that frustrates me somewhat in Blender. I can forgive the alphabetical order in which the outliner stacks objects and I can forgive QOL things like the amount of steps it can take to do simple things like arrays. But I like to be able to see my materials in a panel, and drag and drop them onto objects in the viewport so hopefully this will be the remedy. I really never want to have to make a file, constantly update it and then append it etc.
