Moose Hunt 2024 The Boat Ride In And The First Day Of Hunting Episode - 1
This is the first episode our my 2024 Moose Hunt. We also had Caribou and a Mountain Goat tag but at the end of he moose hunting we had no room in the boats, so I will just call it a Moose hunt. After a long drive and a few hours the next day the boats were loaded and heading up river. After adjusting some of the load from boat to boat we were finally making good time. We made it our camp spot about 2 hours after dark and quickly set up the tent and managed to get out in the morning for a late morning hunt, which turned up nothing. But the evening hunt was a different story, watch and see what happens. #moosehunting #moose #hunting #bcextremeoutdoorsman

Then we started shooting bulls in the 40" top 50" class. But I have found the are moving the most the last 3 weeks of sept and going into oct. how do you feel your motor performed compared to the other boats with a mercury ?

    • @bcextremeoutdoorsman
      @bcextremeoutdoorsman 2 дня назад

      Hi Richard, Its tough to compare, as there boats are built way different than mine. Mine did very well, I got better fuel economy, my boat went faster on the way in up river, I could definitively run in skinnier water. If I was looking for a boat I would get a Solar, I like my boat. Not that it's better, it's better for me. My boat is more of a race car and a work boat, the Stryker IMO is more of a workboat, just my opinion. As for motors, I think if I went for a 60/40 I would go with a Tohatsu. The Mercury ran fine and seemed to perform ok, hopefully next summer I will go out with the guys and really see what those boats and motors will do. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, take care.

    Porpoising is a function of weight distribution and trim angle. My dad has the 450 strela. I have a 520 super. I have a 40jet merc which has hydraulic trim. Any way back to trim angle, if you have a fixed trim angle the thrust is forcing the bow down and then the delta of the hull is forcing the bow up. Up then down, then up then down over and over all day long.

    Thanks for this info. Question, can you get any tilt adjustment with the transom or is it a fixed position? I’m finding, maybe due to how I’m loading my boat, that I need to angle down the intake foot a bit more.

    • @bcextremeoutdoorsman
      @bcextremeoutdoorsman 6 дней назад

      @@jasonnull2248 Hi Jason, the transom is fixed, but you can add shims to the top or bottom, between the motor mounts and transom to get different angles. I hope this helps you. Thanks for watching and the comment, take care.

    So a few questions. If the batteries die in the field say in really cold weather does it make the scope useless or is it still usable? Also in the video around the 6 minute mark you are shooing at the dirt bank. In the top right corner where is shows the recording, we see the red reticle, but it looks like all your shots are low. Why was that? Looks pretty cool though.

    • @bcextremeoutdoorsman
      @bcextremeoutdoorsman 13 дней назад

      @@BooneDownSouth Hi, yes , if the batteries die the scope will not function. That is why it has backup batteries on board. Also it looks like the shots are low because in the scope it’s telling me to hold over and on the recording the reticle is just illuminated and not showing the hold over. I hope this helps and thanks for watching and the comment, take care.

    Been churning through your videos lately. Great stuff. If I could pick your brain, want to build my first custom rifle and thinking about a short action in a XLR Element Magnesium since I could have it super light and chamber it in 7 SAUM for elk or maybe 300 WSM and then could swap the bolt or bolt face and put on a 6 dasher barrel for competitions. Put a bunch of weights on it and try out PRS or NRL comps. Is this a bad idea? Trying to be at least a little budget conscious and thought 1 rifle to do it all is a way to go. Any thoughts would be helpful. Stay safe!

    • @bcextremeoutdoorsman
      @bcextremeoutdoorsman 5 дней назад

      Hi David, if the 7 Saum or 300 WSM is a short action it will work great with the Dasher. I kind of thought those were a medium action, but I’m not sure. It’s definitely a good way to go, I did that for a while with my 6 Creed and 223 , I just changed barrels and bolt heads. After a while I just bought another action and I was good to go as the actions had the same headspace. Sounds like a good build, let me know how it goes.
