Metal Detecting Beaches using the Minelab CTX-3030 flagship metal detector. I'm crazy about metal detecting and love detecting the Florida beaches.
I've been detecting since 2014 and cut my teeth in parks coinshooting in Northern Michigan.
Started with a Garrett AT-PRO and graduated to a Minelab CTX-3030. I still hunt with both machines. Spring Break is Saint Augustine, Florida area and during the summer it's hunting in Michigan. During the winter, I detect local rivers looking for drops from tubers and kayakers.
I'm an introvert - love getting lost in the sense of discovery.
Gear:
Minelab CTX-3030
Garrett AT-PRO
Garrett PinPointer Pro (the orange one - had the original one also)
KellyCo - Travel Scoop (Nice for traveling as it breaks into two pieces)
Stealth Scoop (Stainless Steel - love this scoop in Florida waters and Michigan RIvers)
Love to talk Metal Detecting so please do drop me a line with advice and/or questions. HH - Jason

When are gonna make more videos 😢
"M'kay, and I see something here..... and it is....finally-- a nice El Camino. I always wanted an El Camino. Hahahaha. And this here is a dandy." 😂😂😂🤣🤣😋😭😭😭 Dude, you are hilarious. I laughed my head off. You remind me of Chevy Chase, how you speak. I know it's been a few years but I hope you're alive and well and enjoying life and your family. I bought my first CTX3030 last Summer(2023) but still don't know how to use it well yet. I appreciate your video, man. Miller in Pittsburgh😀
I made the change and it works. After 6 years I tried it. thank you. Do it very carefully or use a spot welder.
thank you putting this to use right now.
Отлично. Спасибо за отличный обзор

Some good finds enjoyed watching
Love the live digs enjoyed well done on the finds
I like the craftiness of this project. I just replaced my 4 batteries, and checked my pin-to-pin voltages against a good battery, and the rebuilt battery pack and the functional battery pack have the same voltages. My only issue is that I get a flashing red/green power light on the BC 10, when I put the rebuilt battery on the charger. I suspect, that since this happens immediately upon inserting the battery into the charger, that possibly a faulty temp sensor circuit on the PCB may be causing the rapid flash. Has anyone run across this either before or after cell replacement? Just curious what could be triggering the rapid flash. Thanks for your thoughts! UPDATE - Left rebuilt battery on the charger for a couple hours, and came back to find the power button solid green and the charging light solid green. Not sure exactly what happened here, but I will follow up on subsequent charging sessions.
My 3030 was just fine then suddenly, it charges all night but never shows completely charged. It runs for right at 2 hours and then dies.
On BBC a Previous video you said you get down to Crescent Beach or excuse me Saint Augustine in spring break time but this time you got down during the winter Christmas time. How are you lucky enough to spend spring break in Florida every year!? I’m glad to see you started doing videos again because I just found your channel and I hate to lose you already
I’m curious to hear what that sea critter is! Are they plentiful in this area?
Where is this beach? What area? Thank you
Can u get the ribbon off to work with it easier? Minelab told me if you remove it , or remove the batteries you’ll damage the unit? Looks like u got to the batt without issue, that’s why I’m asking can u remove the ribbon.
Hi! Thank you for covering the “junk” finds as well as good. I’m just a novice but 2 things I noticed in your videos you may wish to consider…one is to check your dig hole prior to shaking out basket to avoid wasted effort (I get exhausted after while from that) and the loud beeping of your detector overpowers your conversation. Looking forward to more good stuff in my home state!
So glad of this video. Much appreciated CTX Prospector.
Would it just be 2 of the 18650 batteries being 3.7V each at 3400mAh? Or do I do 4 of them? I don't want to cook my machine.
Hello Tim - You would be replacing the same number of “cells” which is 4 cells. 👍🏻 Happy Hunting!
I like the shape of your digger.
Thank you Tim - a digger isn’t always the most exciting thing to purchase but it really does make retrieving items easier!
I must have missed something, I didn't see you attach them to the circuit board
Hello Roger! - I used a 15 Watt iron to solder the contact points. It’s tedious but doable. 👍🏻
do you know if the 18650 batterys have to be protected type?
I'm not sure, I've been using them in my CTX now since the video was uploaded without issue.
Can’t you use a soldering iron to remove the metal strips?
Yes - I used a 15 watt iron without issue.
Hii friend.. How seting ctx 3030..gretings indonesia..
Mainly Beach Mode while switching to open discrimination mode to double check targets.
If you are going to spend the time doing this, invest in Nitecore 18650 3500 mAh, I have used these for two years , I have used others. These are the best out there, you can tell by their weight alone. But they are $20 each, that's $80, but your run time will be increased incredibly. I believe the ones that you suggest are 2500 mAh . That's 4000 mAh extra. So from 10,000 - 14,000 . And their cells are top quality.
Good to know Bob - I still get more hours out of these cheapies than I can swing in one day. 6-8+ hours with GPS off.
@@ctxprospector8883 I use Andy Sabisch's program, it goes through a battery at a healthy rate. More than the Indians and silver program. At least it seems like that. I will time it at some point.
Hi there fellow treasure hunter🤙.Love your vlogs. Exstreamely entertaining and educational. 😍 I just Subbed your channel. Showing my fellow hunters some much deserved love all the way from South Africa 🇿🇦. Keep them comming pretty please 🙏
Thank you SA Magnet Fisher
ENJOYING YOUR VIDEOS. THANKS FOR MAKING THEM.
Glad you like them!
Mine were stamped in and soldered. I desoldered but no joy, I used a super fine filed avionic flathead.. They wouldnt budge. Ended up wasting the strips. New plan is to simply desolder the 3 board connections and lay down some new strips... Bit disappointing as you made it seem pretty straight fwd... The strips are tensile thin.. Good luck fellow 3030'ers. Edit: took me 2 minutes to find these on google ussolid.com/0-15x6x50mm-50-count-pure-nickel-strip-solder-tabs-for-high-capacity-18650-lithium-battery-packs.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwoub3BRC6ARIsABGhnya_DOLrWHA7rS6UVfVAL6MNR3E43iyXEcT3MqLIbTU3D1KhoNM8FooaAnroEALw_wcB cost me an additional 9 bucks shipped to Nevada but this should give hope that if you jack up the nickel strips, the games not over!
Definitely not as easy as you make it look and I’ve soldered quite a few times. To make things way easier I desoldered the five pins so I can actually pull out the entire battery, much easier to work with. I literally just finished and my new battery is on the charger, hesitant to pop it in my $2,500 ctx 😂
Can anyone verify if these batteries would work? Thank you very much. 3.7V 3400mah Battery 18650 www.ebay.com/itm/174214467610

Thank you Richard!

hi men,i 'm french and i didn't find "the new google earth" where is he ?
Thanks for that, very helpful. All worked well. Regards Bob.
Who’s the dipshit who gives this a thumbs down? The EFFORT it takes to film something useful from a POV that is realistic and easy to watch...and LEARN something from...some people have NO idea what it really takes. Keep it coming, great work!
Hello, if you remove the ferrite on the coil and the inside in the block itself, he should see a small gold chain?
عرض سلام و ادب لطفا آموزش تصویری cTx 3030 خواستم. ممنون
Good job
Hi. Great video. Can I just ask - did you use a soldering iron for this or a spot welder. I'm slightly worried about blowing up. I would be grateful if you could explain the soldering process a little more. Thanks - Steve
Have you figured out a way to combine two computer data files into one? Thank You. GL&HH
WARNING if you aren't good at soldering don't attempt to solder lithium ion batteries, it's really not recommended.
Recycled power tool 18650 batteries have 50 to %100 more capacity, but you need to be able to determine their capacity, or just buy high output batteries
What breathable waders do you recommend for rivers etc. I swing a Makro Anfibio multi. 👍🏼 Thanks for the videos!!
When you fly with the metal detector how do you take it with you? Carry on? Luggage?
I want to ask this same question.
Hi dude can only find the 2250 mah batteries and not the 2225.would they be suitable
Invest in a Pin Pointer.
new sub here, keep up the good work. can't wait to ge tover that way. I'm over on the panhandle. hh
The secret is your in the wrong spot
I agree with you on sifting sand... only if I’m in really dry sand, or if I’m in the water and let the water wash the sand through the scoop.
Honest hunting... lots of crappy pennies until you get something different
Seems to go pretty deep, the sound seems to be all over the place... but pinpoints good.... I use a shovel for the beach 🏖 once out of the hole I push the sand with my foot until I see the item... I don’t go down and dig through the sand looking for it.
