August Raised Bed Garden Tour
In this video we head into the garden to take a look at whats growing in my four raised garden beds. I managed to pack a lot of food in a small space, showing you that you don't need acres of land to start growing food. This month the garden has really taken off and I have enjoyed harvesting yummy homegrown produce.

    I absolutely love your channel so much! I love your passion and everything that you enjoy as well. Last summer was my first time that I really tried to have a garden and it's been so hard. But I'm not giving up. I saved some seads and im going to try really hard next spring/summer! I've just started with canning as well and I absolutely love it! It's so rewarding. I also have health issues including Rheumatoid Arthritis so I'm trying to be healthier. I hope you get your piece of land one day. Keep your dreams alive and it will happen! Our home has lots of Black Walnut trees which releases toxin into the grown and kill all the vegetables and fruits. It's so hard! I'm trying to have a garden in pots. Not very productive but it works a little and I'm loving it!

    You’re a great gardener! The weeds could be from the compost not heating up hot enough to kill the weed seeds. We made that mistake last year.

    • @RootedforPurpose
      @RootedforPurpose 7 дней назад

      Thanks for the information about the compost. My local waste center was offering free compost to gardeners so I picked some up at the beginning of the season. I used the same compost for all three community garden locations and only had issues with weeds at one of them which was very strange.

    Did you learn to can from family?

    • @RootedforPurpose
      @RootedforPurpose 15 дней назад

      I did not learn to can from my family. Actually no one in my family cans or gardens. After I started getting into homesteading my grandmother shared with me that her mother was a huge gardener and canner but unfortunately I didn't get to meet her. It just goes to show that you can always teach yourself new skills. I have learned everything by reading books, watching lectures from universities that do canning and food preservation research, looking through the NCHFP website, and watching other youtubers. I am currently working on creating a canning course with everything I have learned in one easy to access place, so be sure to look out for that next year

    Just found your channel. My kids are grtting older. 1 out of the house, 1 almost out of the house. Soon it'll be just me and my son. He does eat a lot, but I keep finding channels and recipes for a lot of food. Edit: if you make homemade noodles or tortillas you can add some of the tomato power with the flour and make tomato/basil tortillas/pasta. So yummy. My kids like the jalapeno tortillas I make.

    Your video popped up today. I am so glad to see a pantry that isn’t for a huge family; I’m a 75 year old widow who has always enjoyed gardening and canning. I’ve only been in my house for a year, and this year I started my garden. I didn’t have a lot of luck with the garden since the month of July was over 100 degrees every day! I have a few things in a fall garden, which I’ve never done before. If I were a lot younger, I would have looked for a house with more property for a small homestead when I bought my new home!

    Did you test the soil ph? It might be too high. I suggest planting borage with your tomatoes. Borage attracts pollinators and predatory insects, while repelling hornworms and other company you might prefer not to have around your tomatoes. It also improves the growth and flavour of the tomatoes. You can also add more mulch and some mushroom spores to the beds and/or ask if you can put some straw/mulch or even inoculated logs around the beds or in a shadier area or something like that. Thank you for sharing.

    • @RootedforPurpose
      @RootedforPurpose Месяц назад

      I did not get the soil tested since its a community garden. I would love to use herbs as companion plants, but unfortunately that community garden did not allow us to grow any herbs in our beds. Thank you for the suggestions though! I will definitely try borage with my tomatoes in the future and I really want to start growing some mushrooms as well.

    Thank you for sharing. As I learn more about you and your journey, I am reminded of myself and my own journey. Like I mentioned on your first video I recommend medicinal plant detoxes. When I was 17 I was very athletic as well and I injured myself severely at the gym. I had a lot of nerve damage, herniated discs and sciatica from that. I was exceedingly athletic one day and severely injured the next. Even though It is my own experience and individual perspective, I do understand to some degree the kind of experience you went through. After years overweight and in pain with all the doctors that I went to telling me that it would only get worse, I found a homeopath that told me that I'd be good in 3 months. He suggested a detox program, which I did and indeed after 3 months the pain was gone and I could have a healthy life again. I am now due for another detox program as our environment is too polluted for our bodies to detox naturally. I do feel we need regular detoxes to support the body and maintain homeostasis. If you are still in pain, I know you can get better, I know these detoxes can and do purge the toxins from our bodies and that our bodies can regenerate very quickly when they are not full of toxins. Like I said before, I recommend the Dr.Schulze's detox from American Botanical Pharmacy. I suggest you do it if you can. All the best.

  • @88divinegrace
    @88divinegrace 2 месяца назад

    Subscribed! I've been having some health challenges too, stopped using perfumes and detergents with perfumes, conventional cleaning and hygiene products. I was already eating as organic as possible and plant based, but around 3 years ago I stopped eating gluten as well. All of these things help, but we truly need regular detoxes to maintain our health in the toxic environment we've created for ourselves. I did a medicinal plant detox a few years ago and my body recovered very quickly and in 3 months I had healed chronic disease that all but one of the doctors that I went to told me would only get worse. I am do for another one and when I have the budged I'd like to do them every other month or so. If you haven't done one yet, I highly recommend them. American Botanical Pharmacy is my preference (Dr.Schulze's 30 day detox). Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your life in your beautiful property with your wonderful dog!
