try oona: oonalab.ai this is how i began my startup journey. i received a full scholarship at draper university to work on my startup idea in fall 2023. at the time, i had a prototype of oona and a pitch deck with less than 100 words. i quit my 9-5 full-time job, packed everything in the suitcase, and stayed in the bay for 10 weeks. it was a startup culture shock at first🤯 almost every day i wa...

i quit my job to build oonalab.ai full-time✨ i had a great opportunity to interview with a huge global venture capital investor! two rounds of interview. disappointing result. but is it really disappointing though? facing failures and adversities is such a difficult challenge for founders who are chasing dreams. and it happens over and over again through out my startup journey. i'll tell you al...

Channel's about to blow up. Great content!
you will make it man, keep it up !
Respect to the solo-founder journey!
love t o follow this one up. i also share my coding joruney, not easy!
Looking forward to your next update!
Well done! I appreciate you sharing your journey with us.
Just looked through my github and remembered I started a project like this in 2022 but never finished it. All the best man 👍
Keep on at it! We got rejected by multiple VCs and then eventually got some seed investments including from YC after lean bootstrapping for 3-4 years and now doing pretty okay! I recommend bootstrapping if you can cause VCs can be a total nightmare, regardless of their funding amount/equity.
Let's go!
love seeing the progress. Your doing a lot of work! Keep going!
2:41 I’m also building an app and I felt like the structure of nights & weekends was missing so I’m doing it with a friend, we get together every week and update each other on our apps. It’s a great idea 😌
Great job getting the product in front of people and learning what they're willing to pay for!
Keep it up!
where do u live? great content!
germany! thanks for the support!
great, tnx for ur honesty
thanks!
Love itt!!! You need a video editor bro ? I can do a sample video 👊🏽
thanks! i'm enjoying editing my videos. let's keep in touch!
If you had to mentor someone from zero to hero with programming, where would you suggest they start? Could you lay out a roadmap of how you would get someone from no experience to their first junior software developer job?
thanks for asking😁 are you new to coding? check out www.freecodecamp.org/
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer these questions!
of course! would you like more of these q&a videos?
@@dawchihliouFrom time to time. I’m loving the content about your founder journey too.
buildspace is no more
ya it was a tough news
I'm from Germany, currently moving to Taiwan to start a tech startup there and in a similar stage as you as a single founder. Your story is interesting to watch, keep it up!
wow all the best in taiwan💪!
Great vlog
appreciate it!
Loving your journey, man!
thanks! more to come💪
Wish these clips could've been in my vlog: ruclips.net/video/WteDccqbxt4/видео.html
love your video!
0:42 yay im featured
it was great meeting you at buildspace🔥
Amazing as always❤
thanks for watching👊
@@dawchihliou always there bro. You're amazing at this. Very inspiring. Keep it up
thank you for sharing your mindset with us daw! really nice to see your view from a non-business (profit-based) perspective in starting a saas business. enjoy the process, make friends and meet great people ex. mentors!
I appreciate that. All the best to you too! Let grow together😁
Do you code a lot on your 13 inch MacBook Air or do you usually code on your external monitor?
50/50! I like changing it up from time to time
That follow up is so key. So few do this well. I always do this when I lose a project, the amount I have learned over the past few years from doing this is worth the awkward moments. Love the optimism.
So true! Love your growth mindset💪
@@dawchihliou This is the way!
Love your spirit and journey 😊 As a creator, I am wondering how your A/B testing approach provides results of similar statistical significance ten times faster than RUclips's internal A/B testing? Grüße aus Frankfurt
love your question! there're several layers to it. in short, you can run a test in just a few hours and our statistical analyzer can tell you the probability of winning and risk you're exposed to at the given moment. with this framework, you don't need to wait 14 days or longer for the result (sometimes you don't even get one).
Positive mindset 💪🏼
let's go🚀
love your positivity and approach, I can't wait to watch oona keep growing!
thanks for your support! more to come🚀
VCs only invest in 1-2% of startups they come across.
absolutely! will keep working hard and smart💪
great startup idea!!!
thank you sm!
$30/mo for A/B testing is wild.
appreciate the feedback! what makes you say that?
Nice to see you as Software Engineer in Düsseldorf. Living in Cologne currently but was living in DUS for years, loved it a lot.
cologne is awesome too!
Insane that VCs just have so much bias against solo founders. I know that european VCs are more risk averse, we've seen this as well at our startup.
thanks for your encouragement! keep pushing and we'll be alright🚀
Amazing how you motivate yourself , you will get what you want soon ❤
thank you sm for your kind words😁
Could you suggest some best books & tips to read for becoming a high earning hvac engineer in my field of AEC construction industry or in general how does it work..
ty for the question! we're in very different industries (i'm a software engineer) but i would say there're 3 books that have a big impact on me: - grit by angela duckworth - the simple path to wealth by jl collins - no rules rules by reed hastings & erin meyer these books helped me think deeper about my life goals, the growth mindset, and how to retrospect and provide feedback. hope it helps
@@dawchihliou Thanks a Ton !!😊 Could you also recommend some more books on increasing salary and career development..
very insightful.
thanks!
Good luck man! imma try your tool today :)
Can’t wait for your feedback!
How did you get your app user(s) for an interview?
I do cold outreach and invite them for an intro call. I’ll give them a longer free trial in exchange for feedback
@@dawchihliou thanks for the valuable information, I’m also working on my product, doing sweat equity.
Hi Daw , Can you share the email to reach out ?
Find me on LinkedIn! www.linkedin.com/in/dawchihliou
liou , whats your purpose of life , why do you work as software engineer , is this ur passion or you do it for money??
I love the feeling that I have a different way to understand the world around us! Not sure about my life purpose but I focus on the things that bring joy. It’s a passion and a good source of income.
Great to follow your progress! What are you using to make the demo video at the end? Loving the zooming in and out.
I had the same question
Did I have my first cameo?? Haha
screen studio!
@@davidjustice8087I have no idea what it means 🙈
good content ma man! i too am a first time founder, so i know the rig!
thanks! all the best to your journey man. do you have a website i can check out?
Hey Man ! I loved this video . I work with entrepreneurs like you who have around 500 subscribers to help them to grow to 10k subscribers in under 12 months with Proven Strategies and systems . I actually helped Chirag to achieve 92k subscribers in under 11 months . Could I do a free audit to see if I can help you do the same ? I just think it's really important that more people see your content and want to help you on that mission
thanks for offering! yes would love to do the free audit
@@dawchihliou Sure man , Can you share me your email ?
Hi. I'd suggest you to buy a microphone, to increase the quality and sound clarity
thanks sm for your suggestion! i don't have additional budget for it atm but will definitely do when things are looking better. thank!
Great content! Where in Germany are you based? Would like to meet :)
yes sir! find me on linkedin www.linkedin.com/in/dawchihliou/🙌
