To prevent being a glass cannon, - buy Magelight - stand just outside the gate to Solitude - turn to your left and face the mountain - continuously spam Magelight at the mountain You will level up Alteration pretty fast as you get xp for the distance that Magelight travels. Then you can invest your perk points in the Alteration tree to reduce the cost and improve the effectiveness of Mage Armour spells. The Atronach perk in the tree [100] allows you to absorb 30% the magica of any spell that hits you, turning you from a glass cannon into a mage tank. This includes dragon attacks.

Do you have firey soul trap enchant? I find the game unplayable without excessive amounts of soul gems and leather to make leather bracers of sneaking to get to enchanting to 100 as quickly as possible then i can just spam destruction.

I like specing into conjuration personally and using that to support what ever thief/assassins thing I am doing. Honestly for as much as I like the cross bow and having swords that match my mod outfit bound weapons are just so much more OP as no carry weight.

Yup. In ANY setting that contains magic, the most powerful is ALWAYS the summoner - not only they create decoys to soak enemy damage, but these decoys also fight on their own, making the summoners role VERY safe: Just hide in a corner, and occasionally re-summon your minions when they die.

I can easily rack up conjuration, illusion, and now alteration fast enough, but I can't find anyplace to practice destruction spells on without being a fully dedicated mage and ending up a squishy wizard.

I use magic for the healing effect, summoning my goat, and the candlelight effect. It's freaking worthless otherwise. Illia uses magic and never runs out of charge when she isn't kneeling on the ground trying to recover from attacks.

I usually use it to make daedric armor and weapons early to hold me over until I can get to 100 smithing

Quick tip: If you chop so much firewood that you become overencumbered you can travel at a normal run by dropping all of the wood as one stack and then pick it up without taking it back into your inventory. It will float in front of you. If you sprint or turn too fast you will drop it so keep to running. You have to drop it and take it into your inventory to go through doors, mount a horse, or sell it.

That early Lvl1 Storm Atronach Staff is ridiculous. Ive used it for Illusion builds to Pacify/Harmony whole dungeons and use Stormy to fight bosses. Ash Guardians are good as well even without heart stones.

It takes less than *one* hour chopping firewood to earn 3000 Septims. About 10 seconds per axe swing, giving 2 firewood, times 3 is 30 seconds for 6 firewood worth 30 Septims. (It's actually slightly less than 30 seconds but I'll round it up for easier math.) This works out to about 1 Septim per second. So 3000 Septims worth of firewood takes about 50 minutes to chop. Add in some delay re-clicking on the block and also being a little late coming back from the bathroom or getting another drink from the fridge and we can say an even 1 hour for 3000 for even easier math. 😆

Dont really understand how this is making you Over Powered, unless you mean OP at a low level? Or is creating Staffs that do the same things as a Spell, OP?

With how easy money is to make in this game, why would you grind firewood?

The primary issue I ran into until I figured out the vampire + restoration perk trick was that the potion of fortify destruction potion only lasts for a short time. When you improve your weapons they are always improved unless you lose one to a disarming shout. The perks only reducing casting cost is pretty silly when even free castings are still slower than every other combat style. On top of that ALL of the armor enchantments for magic are ALSO about reducing the cost. Armor spells have the same problem, only lasting 60 seconds. So I survived the fight with the Bandits and got one shot on the road by a wolf I didn't see coming. But if I put on a suit of armor I have that armor bonus until I take it off. I can even sleep in the armor!

I'm gonna try and use the forge in my next play through , it's such a cool concept but I feel like the game is WAY too mysterious about it (also that bug where you only get a daedric hammer and if you can't download the unofficial patch you're screwed)

7:38 Have to correct this, the reason that dragon couldn’t shout was because of your lightning enchantment. Despite what lore says, dragons use a magica pool to use shouts. The absorption does give you magica and it does absorb spells, but it won’t drain a mages reserves directly.

I've never messed with that thing. I always thought it was for making atronachs and I'm not into conjuration, lol. I always play a full mage build, so I'm gonna have to go back and mess with it.

I've not tested this myself, but according to UESP, disease and poison attacks, or at least most of them, count as magical attacks and thus spell absorption can prevent them. It will only stop the chance to get the disease or to get poisoned, you will still take any physical damage that comes along with it. The same also goes for enchanted weapons held by enemies. Also, spell absorption will absorb your spells... Sort of. Guardian Circle will be absorbed, but will also still work. Also, Summon spells will sometimes not work. This is listed as a bug, but it is something to note if you aren't using the Unofficial Patch, since that is a mod. If you have Anniversary Edition, or just some of the CC content added by it, there are 7 ingredients that give Spell Absorption as an effect, letting you make Spell Absorption potions that can give up to 50% spell absorption, not counting any exploits to make them stronger. This lets you reach 100% with just potions and the Atronach Stone, letting you wear whatever you want and not grind Alteration, or lets you reach 100% with some of Miraak's gear and the Atronach perk, letting you use whatever other Standing Stone you want. Also, if you're willing to exploit glitches, you can also reach 100% by either becoming a Vampire and getting the Necromage perk before getting the Atronach Stone and Atronach perk, or you can apparently drink a potion of Fortify Restoration before getting the Atronach Stone or Fortify Destruction before getting the Atronach perk to permanently boost their effects (apparently, despite the Atronach perk being in the Alteration skill tree, it's registered as a Destruction ability, while the Atronach Stone registers as a Restoration ability, much like the Fortify Restoration loop). But again, those are glitches. Not everyone wants to exploit glitches. I just feel it should be known by those that do want to.

Summon an Atronoch, then attack it a few times to get it to attack you, be sure to have on all types of armor. This will allow you to level them all up. If you get close to dying just summon new Atronoch to make it stop attacking. :)

While Running from area to area - using Muffle Magic again and again is SUPER FAST EASY LEVEL GRIND. :)

Make Fortify Enchantment Potion, Drink it and then immediately Enchant Gear With Fortify Alchemy Effect. Wash Rinse Repeat & watch what happens. :)

Yea I've never used that forge ever, and I've got 3000 hours in the game, what I enjoy about Skyrim that I don't get in say ESO. Is I enjoy being a spells sword, I don't like the magic staff's. To me it's a oversized Harry Potter wand, and it's just not for me. However if other people like them fantastic, be boring if we all liked the same thing. So yes I enjoy being a spell sword, however without mods like the adding more spells mod. I forget what it's called, being a spell sword is not great, as the vanilla spells just never seem to get particularly powerful. Or I'm playing wrong which it could be, there is a lot in this game like the forge I've never used.

To a new player: You can craft the lightning atronach staff with just one broom, void salts, orichalcum ore, and a greater soul gem. You don't need to craft all three. You can also power level yourself to level 100 conjuration very quickly by summoning bound sword over and over while hiding near enemies in about fifteen minutes. Once you do this you can go to Phineas and take the master conjurer quest to get your hands on a sigil stone. Once you have that and install it on the pedestal of the atronach forge many more recipes open up, including ways to cheaply get entire sets of daedric gear early in the game. If you have anniversary edition you can get a spell tome to summon an ayleid lich at practically level 1

... Glowing mushrooms are mind-blowingly easy to find anywhere you find falmer and nightshade grows in every graveyard in skyrim. It was *never* a problem to brew up destruction pots at a decent rate. Hearthfire made it way easier but it was never needed to rebalance anything.

This is my favorite elder scrolls channel at the moment. Almost makes me want to buy the game on my Switch so that I could beat it on legendary without any mods. Could you maybe have a google doc or community post or something detailing your favorite alchemy combinations, especially the renewable/growable ones? Its hard remembering that stuff and searching through the video to find them is awkward
