This tune is even earlier, and comes from a Swedish drinking song going back to before the USA even existed. It is called Halta Lotta. The American national anthem also has its roots as an UK drinking song. How come you Yanks knew so many drinking songs lol!

I'm Japanese, but I've always loved Republic's hymns. I thought John Brown was the original song, so I'm happy to meet this. I have a question here, what do people in the United States think of these three songs? Is it a patriotic song that is the foundation of everyone's heart? Or is it a song sung by children?
Battle Hymn of the Republic is the most famous version of this song and its a very culturally important and patriotic song in America.

This should be the Canadian National Anthem. Much more stirring than that dirge O Canada. And restore the red ensign version of the Canadian flag
What? You haven’t heard, even though it’s been said for more than 150 years? You ridiculed it, when we told you. You thought it was untrue. You laughed at it but… you were wrong! About what, you ask? Well, here it is… The South WILL RISE again!! Our beautiful Confederate battle flag will once again fly against tyranny and for freedom and state rights!! It may happen sooner than you think. This is not fiction, hopeful wishes, or a “lost cause”. This is a LEGEND and a PROMISE carried in the hearts of EVERY true Southerner, that is soon to come true and fulfill its destiny…
