A good friend of mine, Sarah, is a ridiculously talented fiber artist. I have been gifted a couple things over the years that are treasures. Good yarn from small artists is a nice find, but finding the community behind it is even nicer. I am delighted to see you had a nice day out!

I forgot to mention that I’ve got one of those woven baskets . Got it at a festival up here many moons ago We call them market baskets ❤❤❤ Mine would be over 15 years old and I’ve even taken it packed full of everything on the boat Great quality still looks brand new I paid a pretty penny for it but it’s still tip top I just got the natural colour with long stuff ish leather handles I’d love to get a multi coloured one with the shorter handle I should take a picture to show you It was definitely an investment that has paid it self off ❤

The problem with black snakes is they will eat chicks and eggs besides the mice and rats

Got to love the natural fibers, dry or wet they will keep you warm. Lots of sheep, alpaca and goat farms here in this neck of the woods . Enjoyed 👍👍

That definitely is a black ratsnake. They can be ill tempered, and are harmless. Excellent rodent control, but will eat chicks and eggs if hungry enough. You can put it in a bucket with a lid and move it out of the area.

I love snakes. We keep a large amount of feed in the barn. This can obviously attract rodents. The farm cat controlled this only to a point. 6 ft plus black snake moved in and there are 0 rodents between the 2..

Herpetologist here. Black rat snakes most certainly ARE a good thing. For that matter, so are almost all snakes. Snakes are beneficial to humans because they control rodents. Rodents are highly destructive of foodstuffs and other human property, whereas snakes are not. Rodents carry disease; snakes do not. Rodents carry parasites; snakes do not. Rodents will even chew on people - - check what happened to soldiers in the trenches during WW I or to babies in the nastiest urban ghettos in the 1950s and 1960s (if not today). It's not even close - - the more snakes we have, the better off humans are. And as to whether people should be afraid of snakes: Think about what you (an adult human) looks like to an animal whose eyes are a couple of inches or less off the ground - - do you really think that animal is going to come after you? Nonsense!

Looks like it could be a bull snake.... Not sure if those are native to where you live though.

That is a big black rat snake and he looks well fed so you do have a lot of rodents around probably a good idea to keep him around if the food runs out he will leave on his own
