Hill Cumorah - The Fading Icon
The LDS church seems to be slowly backing away from the Hill Cumorah in New York. The lack of archaeological support for the Book of Mormon's story of two epic wars at the Hill Cumorah has led some to propose a Two-Hill theory. Proponents of this theory are at odds with Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism. Latter-day Saints are caught between siding with their founder or acknowledging that the story could not have taken place at that hill near Palmyra, New York

    All of this will always be a matter of faith; however, let’s consider the following question: Do you believe that Moroni buried the plates in the same place where his people had been massacred years before? Specifically, a place where the Lamanites prevailed? Or is this a second place called Cumorah, a place where it was safer to hide them?

    Bob… That is a very bold statement that you made and is completely a lie. I repeat your statement is an absolute positive lie. How many sources do I need to give you with regards to where the Book of Mormon took place? How many quotes prophets and apostles? How many independent people that are not related to Brigham Young University or Coney head intellectualism There is no Book of Mormon history in central America There are not two hills hills that the plates were buried in there's one hill This would be interesting to speak to you about because we are polar opposites on this and one of us is right and one of us is wrong, and I am willing to put it all out there with any precaution with regards to my status in academia

    It's easy! Just find all of the weapons, armor, tools, food preparation and storage implements, human remains, animal remains, and the list goes on. There are all kinds of remains left behind after a battle as large as where the nephite civilization came to an end at the hands of the lamanites. With all of the roads, buildings, canals, pipelines, and other projects being built, one would think that lots of nephite artifacts would be unearthed. Right?!?!

    There was no succession “crisis” following Joseph Smith's death. Months before he and Hyrum were murdered, Joseph called all members of the Twelve together and conferred all the priesthood keys and authority upon them. He also gave the saints a “key that would never rust.” He said that if the saints followed 1) a _majority of the Twelve_ and, 2) the _records of the church_ (which the church had) they would never be led astray. The Church went westward with the keys of authority and the records. And again, there was no succession crisis. The other splinter groups were cursed by Brigham Young, who said they could break away if they chose, but “they will not prosper.” This has been true, especially for the RLDS/CofC, the largest splinter group. Finally, 3) the _name of the church_ was given by revelation, when the Lord stated, “for thus shall my church be called in the last days, even the _Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints.” So given these three points, there was no crisis. We have all three of the requisites that Joseph Smith and the Lord gave the church. The protestants argue that they have all the points that the ancient church had, but this is moot. Protestants _do not have the keys of the kingdom of heaven_ that Jesus gave the apostles (Matthew 16:17-18; 18:18). And today, only the Roman Catholic Church and the LDS church claim to have these keys.

    Actually horse have been found. Only 1 percent of the Americas have had any type of excavation so we will need to wait. In the meantime there is a lot of evidence that is hard to explain as coincidence. How did Joseph guess so much that went against science understanding at that time. Gold plates, stone boxes, barley, Lehis route through the desert, ancient hebrewisms, ancient Hebrew poetry, ancient Hebrew names, complex ancient war strategies, all these were unknown at the time and laugh at. Also deep and complex theological concepts and sermons and much more all from a 24 year old living on the frontier with no formal education done in one draft in 65 days with 11 witness who went to their deaths never wavering in their testimony that they saw the gold plates. The book should seem more and more like a fraud over time but instead it gets more plausible. I’ve read the book and prayed about it, and I know it is true so much effort is put into disproving the book because if it’s true, then Joseph Smith was a profit, and if he was a profit, then the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored on the Earth again. And that would be the greatest disruption to Satan‘s kingdom on earth. Blessed are you if all men shall revile against you for my sake, and all men shall exclude you, said Jesus, the one thing that seems to unite Christianity is that “Mormons“ are not Christian, and the rest of the world uniquely picks out “Mormons” for mockery like no other world religion. There’s a motivation there that’s hard to explain if they’re just silly deluded people then just ignore them, but why a concerted effort to constantly try to find something to disprove their religion? And when that doesn’t work after a while, then try to find something else year after year after year. There’s been over 100 acronyms in the book of Mormon since 1830 that I’ve all been shown to to actually support the book of Mormon and it’s validity but they just move onto the next one. They just keep throwing mud trying to find something that sticks and if it doesn’t stick and they just throw some more mud and hope that it sticks. What is the motivation, I say read the book. Pray about it if the spirit tells you it’s not true fine move on to following Jesus Christ not trying to put down some other religion.

    It's shocking how completely blind and one-sided this video is. Of course, the route to the south is a well-known trade route. If you travel south, southeast of Jerusalem, along the main strand of the ancient Arabian route, the route branches off to the east, toward the southeast coast, at only one point: in the Jawf Valley (Wadi Jawf), just a few miles from Nhm. From there, the eastern arm of the trade route leads to the ancient port of Qana - now Bir Ali - on the Hadhrat coast, from where most of the frankincense was shipped. This eastern arm was the main route - the paths to the south were less used.

    • @robholden4847

      The route from Nihm to Bi'r Ali is not "nearly eastward" as the Book of Mormon text describes.

    • @NoteworthyAnalysis
      @NoteworthyAnalysis 3 месяца назад

      If one travels east from Nihm (Naham) in Yemen, they would reach the coast at the city of Al-Mukalla in the Hadramaut Governorate. Al-Mukalla is located on the coast of the Arabian Sea and is a major port city in the eastern part of Yemen. Here are the main stops and geographical features one would pass through on this route: Nihm (Naham): Starting point near Sanaa. Marib: Traveling east from Nihm, one would pass through the Marib Governorate, known for its historical sites and the ancient city of Marib. Ramlat as-Sabatayn: A large sand desert extending east of Marib. Hadramaut: Further east, one reaches the Hadramaut region, known for its valleys and historic cities like Shibam. Al-Mukalla: Finally, one would arrive at the coast of the Arabian Sea at Al-Mukalla. Al-Mukalla is one of the most important coastal cities in eastern Yemen and would be a likely point to reach the coast when traveling east from Nihm.

    • @robholden4847

      @@NoteworthyAnalysis Nihm to Al Mukalla is not "nearly eastward" as the Book of Mormon text requires. You're forcing the story to fit the geography. I don't know of any LDS apologists who propose Al Mukalla as Bountiful. The reason you won't have them travel "nearly eastward" from Nihm is that you know that that travel would be a suicide mission.

    I asked ChatGPT: In the past, there were indeed sufficient wood resources in Yemen and Oman to support the construction of seafaring ships. In Oman, for example, there was a thriving timber trade that allowed locals to build traditional dhows, sailing ships used for trade in the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Gulf. In Yemen, ships were also constructed, although the country may not have been as rich in wood resources as Oman. Nevertheless, wooden ships were made there and used for trade. The availability of wood was certainly an important factor for shipbuilding in the region, although other materials such as teakwood dhows, iron, and copper were also utilized. Conclusion: MH deliberately lies!

    • @robholden4847
      @robholden4847 3 месяца назад

      Nice straw man (if only Agius, Hourani and Ball consulted ChatGPT for their research). The video says “no suitable timber for ...transoceanic… vessels”. Of course they could build smaller craft. But dhows and the like are not suitable nor durable to carry many families across the rigors of the Indian-Pacific ocean. Nice try.

    • @NoteworthyAnalysis
      @NoteworthyAnalysis 3 месяца назад

      The person who wrote the original message is right. Teak is excellent for transoceanic shipbuilding and was available on the southern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. The term dhow is used to describe about 60 different types of ships, from small single-masted boats of 10 tons displacement for fishing to much larger transport ships.

    • @NoteworthyAnalysis
      @NoteworthyAnalysis 3 месяца назад

      Teak wood was valued for its outstanding properties for shipbuilding and was already used in antiquity. Here are some historical details that support this: Ancient use of teak wood: Arab traders and sailors used teak wood because of its natural resistance to water, pests, and decay. This made it ideal for shipbuilding, especially for the traditional Arab dhows. Import and trade: Teak wood was mainly imported from India and Southeast Asia, where it was abundant. Trade routes between the Arab world and India were well established, facilitating the transport of teak wood. Ports along the coasts of present-day Oman, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia played an important role in this trade. Documented cultivation: There are historical reports that teak wood was also grown on the Arabian Peninsula, although this was less common. The cultivation might have occurred in suitable microclimates or through targeted cultivation efforts to meet the needs of the local shipbuilding industry. These historical evidences show that teak wood played an important role early on in the maritime history of the Arab world, both through import and limited local cultivation.
