    Im a Latin Catholic and i agree the Christian Oxthodox received SO MUCH persecution even from the Catholics... 1204 (sack of Constantinople by the Frankish Crusaders)... 1453 (Fall of Byzantin Empire)... spread of the Ottoman who enslaved the Orthodox for centuries and forced conversion... then the cobstant war between the French and Russia (Napoleon), the crimean war when France and Britain fought the russian to prevent russia from making Constantinople the 3rd Rome, the Armenian Genocide and Greek christian genocide by the ottoman, the birth of Soviet Union that destroyed the church, WW2 And Stalin and even now the many persecuted communities in asia, middle eastern countries.. i would say the tipping point was probably the fall of Constantinople.. the Orthodox didnt really have a super strong nation to help their religion.. beside 1700-1800 russia which was replaced by an atheist ussr

    Question: Orthodox in America largely moved here for opportunities and freedom, then churches naturally formed. But St. Innocent of Alaska and St. Nikolai of Japan both moved to foreign lands to bring the Gospel and Orthodoxy to those places. They too had to find people to speak with. There’s similarity to going out into the public today to that of the saints and apostles.

    • @perttisuorsa4678
      @perttisuorsa4678 25 дней назад

      And the reason why most people think that you are roman catholics is that you do not know how to spread your message effectively. You should arrange public talks ( once a month ) in your churches all around the world, talks on subjects that have to do with orthodoxy and the world, subjects like "Where is the true church of God today ?", "Did God create evil ?", "Are we living in the end times ?" and "Can a Christian believe in evolution ?" You should invite people from the street to attend those events. Because you believe tha you are the true church of God on Earth you should be much more active than you are to reach the public with your gospel. I have known about your church for a very long time now but it was quite recently that I found out that you are the TRUE church of God on Earth. The general public knows very little about your church and the fault is yours.

    Because There are Too Many False Doctrines in America Already. Western Orthodox Catholic Churches who represent the Eastern Orthodox Church arrived with the Earliest Religion. It is a man-made doctrine that is not biblical. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees and then you dress like them? They prayed to statues and probably paintings. And, you pray to statues and pictures of dead saints. Do you not know that our bodies are a temple for the Holy Spirit? Neither do Catholics. The Holy Spirit is not reserved for a pope, a patriarch or a Pharisee but, for those who God has chosen to approach The Son. John 666 Aug 31, 2022 We cannot convince anyone. We can only cast seeds and water them. God gives a measure of faith but, if it is not used, it will be taken away. Be careful. Do not think your teachings are concrete. God reveals little by little, from glory to glory. Be open. There might be scriptures that complete what you have started. There are new revelations to what has already been written. Only God can open minds to understand the scriptures. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 6:44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. 64. However, there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray Him.) 65. Then Jesus said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless the Father has granted it to him.” From that time on many of His disciples turned back and no longer walked with Him. John 6:66 John 15:16,17 You did not choose Me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit-fruit that will remain-so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you. This is My command to you: Love one another. The Body of Christ 3/9/2024 The Body of Christ is The Church. Not a denomination or Religion. Doctrines Divide Love Unites Colossians 1:18 And He is the Head of the "body", the Church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have the preeminence. The Body of Christ is also "not" a wafer. Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the Head of the Church, His "body" of which He is the Savior. Christ Jesus is the Head of the Church, "not" a pope or patriarch. Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one "body" and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and "in" all. 1st Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? 1st Corinthians 12:12-31 The body is a unit, though it is composed of many parts. And although its parts are many, they all form one body. So it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were all given one Spirit to "drink". ("Drink" the blood of Christ.) For the body does not consist of one part, but of many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact, God has arranged the members of the body, every one of them, according to His design. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you.” Nor can the head say to the feet, “I do not need you.” On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts we consider less honorable, we treat with greater honor. And our unpresentable parts are treated with special modesty, whereas our presentable parts have no such need. But God has composed the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its members should have mutual concern for one another. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now "you" are the body of Christ, and each of you is a member of it. And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, and those with gifts of healing, helping, administration, and various tongues. (No pope or patriarch) Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way. (Love 1st Corinthians 13) 1st Corinthians 14:1-4 Earnestly "pursue love" and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men, but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries in the Spirit. But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, encouragement, and comfort. The one who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. Pursue Love. Love is the Fruit of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:22-25 The Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us walk in step with the Spirit. Ephesians 2:18-22 For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. In Him the whole building is fitted together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord. And in Him "you too" are being built together into a dwelling place for God in His Spirit. You Must Be Born Again

    "Before we can go out we have to cultivate a life of repentance, a life of prayer..." The only problem with this is that Orthodoxy has never stopped cultivating such things (which itself is a tremendous blessing). But that kind of logic keeps Orthodox insulated and wholly apart from the world, which is why they have failed miserably at evangelizing the whole world. Outside of Russia and tiny populations in China, Japan and Alaska, Orthodoxy has never really grown from its geographic origins. Catholicism, on the other hand, has spread across the globe building monasteries, parishes, schools. Monasticism is widely varied and the entire universal tradition is present. Eastern Orthodoxy only has access to the Byzantine rite. She has been separated from the Roman rite, and has no access to the other rites (as they are in the Syro Malankara, Eritrean, Coptic, Assyrian church of the east, oriental orthodox, etc). Only the Catholic Church truly exemplifies and lives the 4 Biblical marks of the Church: One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic. I don't say this as a flex. I am deeply saddened by the ongoing schism between Christian East and West. But it is time all you wayward Christians: Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, the 30k+ brands of protestantism, etc all come back to the Catholic Church. Christ wills that we all be one. The Orthodox lack real unity, and always have. Orthodoxy is not the answer.

      Hindus believe in one God in 1000 divine persons? How many times have you been reincarnated. How many times more will you be reincarnated until you get it right? God's grace and forgiveness are bigger than karma. Christ breaks the cycle. He didn't reincarnate. He resurrected from the dead and ascended into heaven not into nirvana or nothingness.

    After you have gone to college or a tech school to learn a profession or trade, and then you go into the real world of work, you quickly realize you learned relatively little in school from your books. The real education is applying the theoretical knowledge you learned from books into practice at work. Work is an ongoing education. Merely hearing the words of Christ but not applying them or working them out, we don't really gain the transformative knowledge or gnosis for the soul. Gnosis is experiential knowledge not theoretical knowledge. We can't be good hesychasts and reach our end or telos, ie, theosis, merely reading about them without going through katharsis and theoria. At the end of his Sermon on the Mount, Christ said the one who practices what he taught is like the wise man who built his house on a rock foundation able to withstand the winds and floods of life that unexpectantly assail us. You can't become perfect (telos) or fulfilled without hearing, studying, practicing, reviewing, restudying, and reapplying the words of the Word. When we look in a mirror and then forget what our faces look like, it's because we are so accustomed to our faces that we no longer really study them anymore. It's like when we learn a behavior or skill, and out of habit we keep doing it the same old way. We become inattentive, act without thinking, and then that's when we make mistakes, thinking we knew it better than we really did. Sinning is like that. Out of habit we sin without really being attentive. We do them almost reflexively. We react to our desires without scrutinizing thought. Then out of habit we entertain the desires which transform into passions or willfulness. Next thing you know we are in an emotional disposition or spirit which controls the thoughts' attention further, distorts our perceptions and clouds our better judgements. We are in the flesh instead of in the spirit of sophrosyne. It's like looking in a clouded mirror. Mirrors used to be highly polished metal plates. Even glass mirrors had polished silver backings. Our fallen souls are tarnished mirrors. They don't accurately reflect Christ in whose image and likeness they were created. Hesychastic prayer, katharsis, good works (charity), etc, ie, faithfulness, polish the soul, preparing it for the Light of Christ, the Holy Spirit, who illuminates the soul. The nous with the Light of God gazing into the renewed heart, sees the image of Christ who is the Image of the Father. The soul sees herself as she was created to be. The soul sees God as He is Christ. The soul becomes known as He is known and will become like Him as He is revealed to her. She will never forget his face imprinted in her eyes. Gazing into His mirroring eyes we will see ourselves, and He looking in our mirroring eyes will see Himself. There's theosis/divine communion.

    • @markpatterson2517
      @markpatterson2517 2 месяца назад

      Asceticism is like the polishing cloth, good works is like the elbow work required, and grace is the silver polish which removes the tarnish build up on the soul. A highly polished soul requires some elbow grease besides the cloth and polish.

    • @markpatterson2517
      @markpatterson2517 2 месяца назад

      Here's an apparent paradox. Though work is preliminary to theosis, it can't be ultimately grasped by work. The soul must rest, then it is given by grace. It's an apparent paradox because work and rest don't contradict each other. Six days we are to work and on the seventh sabbath rest. To everything under heaven there is a time and season. There's a season to work and a time to rest. There's a time to labor in prayer and a season to sabbath rest in prayer. There are various prayers which require some work. Singing psalms is prayer. It requires work. Verbalizing a prayer without melody requires less work. Saying a prayer in thoughts without verbalizing requires less work. Having a holy image in mind without words requires less work. Feeling God's presence without words, thoughts or images requires less work. Sensing God's presence without emoting, thoughts, or images requires less work. These are six forms of prayer requiring some work, but less and less as they progress to contemplative or hesychastic prayer which is complete rest or sabbath prayer. This progression of prayer only feels like work or labor because the restless willful heart is unwilling to rest with the Lord in prayer. The bulk of the work is learning how to go from being willful to willing.

    Some people here describe the orthodox church as political or ethnic. The writing of two Albanian guys is extreme, so I would like to share my comments to them also with anyone here. I am afraid their look has been colored by their own eyes, polluted by their own venom. Projecting their own feelings over something they don't really know, or know just from the outside. They may be biased by the Albanian-wide agenda that put their ethnic program above _any_ faith. On the other hand some of them are clearly attracted to orthodoxy. Probably a reason why they visit this channel in the first place. Surely it sits firmly in their roots - a great deal of Albanian ancestors had been either Roman catholic or orthodox Christian (before their 1878 PL national agenda set foot). And that's a call they may not understand, but can't ignore. In my twenty active years in Serbian Orthodox Church across at least seven countries I have never heard a single word expressed against the Albanians whatsoever. Or anything remotely resembling any of the words they utter under this video. Yet Albanians have annihilated many Serbian orthodox churches, monasteries and even graveyards during the last 75 years. The destruction was especially savage in recent history, in 1999 and in 2004. So you see, only the true spirit of Christ's love and the fear of God, plus believer's repentance can explain the phenomenon that the SOC keeps shy of condemning those people. We don't believe we are sinless. In fact, we _know_ we aren't sinless. So all the violence afflicted to us and to our shrines is useful for our awakening in the Lord and for the repentance, and all the humiliation is to God's glory. The orthodox are extremely wary to exercise and project enemy feelings to anybody. And that's universal. One and only time I myself have heard a Serbian priest talking about Albanians was in a sermon in which he told Serbian believers that Albanians are to them what Samaritans were to Jews in Christ's own words (Luke 10:29-37). The orthodox church is the opposite of what some people comment accusing it for ethnic confinement. It is open to everyone, both by default and by its all-pervasive Spirit. We take pride in receiving people of different background among us. We see it as our pure gain and rejoice (but we do not deny our own background, why should anyone?). In its prayers the OC is open to everyone's suffering, no matter the background. Our hearts and prayers always go to those people, like now to Ukraine, Gaza and Syria. Those prayers have been actively offered in our services. There may had been no Albanian speaking priest for a short while in 1990s in Albania, but that's an obvious consequence of the own Albanian communist regime policy, severely banning the Church throughout half a century. Besides, the Islam is since the fall of communism always faster with the territorial and human re-conquest than the gentle, unobtrusive preaching of Christ who never imposed anything and has commanded us not to. Ethnic approach poses a minor existing quirk in some parishes. It is a Truth test for some rare orthodox communities and rather for mere individuals here and there. But I'm sure anyone can evade them easily by undertaking a smallest effort. The majority parishes are of the open, welcoming spirit. Especially in Albania, Macedonia and Kosovo it shouldn't pose a problem, as the orthodox church there is fully acclimatized to the predominantly Albanian environment. The priests can advise discreetly and direct anyone to a fitting community. If a community is truly orthodox - and by far the most are - Albanians or any other wherever will be fully welcome, without any doubt. Just traveling to Serbia or Greece, doesn't mean someone's been to the Church let alone experienced it. Some people just look for an excuse not to try, or just want to offend the Church. I wouldn't make any statements about Islam, for instance, before I've been to a mosque and met some people there. Which I have. In case you're truly interested in true Christianity: something is expected from you too. If you can't stand your neighbor in your local orthodox church, like you as Albanian can't stand a Serbian or Bulgarian or a Greek guy, then your own spirit doesn't allow you to attend the orthodox church; not the church itself. It's your self-imposed limitation then, not the limitation of the church. Jesus Christ requires you to be humble and meek and to love your neighbor in order to receive his blessing and Grace. Even if you become a member of American, or Antioch OC for instance for that reason, you'll drag your attitude there too and won't make progress spiritually before you get rid of it. But it will be more difficult there than with your true neighbor.

    The new martyr of Russia Daniel Sysoev was evangelizing just like protestants he even made orthodox tract and made street evangelism. Hundreds of people converted to the holy orthodoxy even many muslims. Muslims killed him and he became a martyr. He said one who feels calling to do evangelism he need to start it immidiately even if he is cathecumen. If we think we need to reach certain level of spirituality maybe we never reach it and we will fo nothing. Most orthodox christians really do not do so much for evangelims. If they would there would be much more orthodox nations in the world

      A possible hindrance for both evangelism and orthodox church growth with new converts here in the USA is the long held practice of conducting all the many Orthodox services in one of the many ethnic languages (Greek, Russian, Serbian, etc.). Even Paul understood the importance of using a language that could easily be understood by the listener by saying, "But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue."_1Cor.14:19. He knew it to be important for the listener to understand the message spoken.

      You are absolutely right. The orthodox church does very little effective evangelizing. The members could arrange different kinds of meetups and lectures in their church and invite people from the street to attend those events but they never do. There are a lot of people who know very little about orthodoxy. Very few people know that orthodoxy regards itself as the true church of God on Earth. The reason for this is the fact that the orthodox church does not understand how to evangelize effectively.

      @@perttisuorsa4678 I do believe things are going “well” and getting better again. Not while ago Reader Paul from @bottomoftherabbithole and his parish hosted an inquirers event, and there were people who turned up. In fact in the UK where I’m located, Christian Orthodox Thyateira Youth (COTY) regularly hold events with good turnouts. I believe Ubi Petrus (Orthodox RUclipsr) did comprehensive videos on the history of Orthodox evangelisation
