Hi! Absolutely. I actually do a lot of hats on my 260 as well as my Midgauge. The biggest thing is just getting your gauge to match. E.g., the yarn I use (Brown Sheep Nature Spun) is at 6 1/3 Tension on the main bed and ribber bed on my midguage, and when I use my bulky, I use a tension of 2 1/3. Find whatever tension will give you the right gauge, and you can knit up a ribbed hat the same way. I still cast on 90 sts for an adult regular sized hat and knit about 86 rows. I just adjust the tension on the dials to get the gauge exactly right.

Definitely! If you look at the written pattern, I identify the width and length of what the finished piece should come to before seaming up depending on your desired size (e.g., toddler, adult, etc.). If you're using number 3 yarn, you just need to make sure you cast on the correct number of stitches according to the yarn gauge to reach the right width (e.g., # of stitches/inch X inches of desired width = how many stitches to cast on). Then you will knit to the designated length for your desired headband size and cast off when you reach it! Let me know if you need further clarification, and thank you for reaching out.
