Red Lake 07/20/24
This year I was able to finally join the CAOR (California Asian Off Road) annual Red Lake run for the 1st time. Red Lake is a pretty easy to mild trail located towards Shaver Lake in Fresno county. Definitely recommend at least 33” tires with armor. Didn’t get much videos so I hope yaw enjoy this quick 5 minute video…

A day trip didn’t go as planned when we encountered this individual who had lost his hard line brake line. Rolled over to the cliff and thankfully the tree stop it from going farther down the cliff. We helped out this group to recover their Jeep and went continue on but unfortunately didn’t have time to make it down to the lake and decided to just have lunch and turned back around.

Quick video of our Fordyce trip, I broke a CV axle shaft which is a aftermarket cv. I will be going back to the OEM due to the metal in the oem is much stronger. Just a quick video to show you guys what broke and how I got it out. Thanks for watching!

Can you really call these tacos? Solid front axles, i think the only thing not modified is the grill.

Hey, I just put this motor in and 87 Toyota runner and going dual cases with 4.7 rear case. Do you think I could get away with 4:88 differential and 37? Want to hit some high speeds still
Yes 4.88 with 37 on this motor is a good combination.
Make sure the roller bearings that the axles going into the differential that the axles are supported by aren’t worn out. There’s a kit that replaces them with bushings that are a lot more durable. This won’t eliminate future axle breakage but will help.

I just got done today upgrading my 04 Tundra. New upper/lower control arms/bushings. Camburg uppers. New upper/lower ball joints, new hubs/wheel bearings. New stablizer ends. Method Racing beadgrips with BFG All Terrain KO3's. Bilstein 6112's. It's cool to see what you can do with one of these old Yotas!
This has been my biggest fear with mid travel ifs 35s with oe reman cvs. Thanks for showing this, ive been wondering how to do this
Glad I could help with your concern. Although I have seen some other guys drilling a hole into the shaft and using a puller to pull it out. I honestly don’t like that method due to the contamination of metal shavings. But whatever works….
RCV axels see if they are available for this model. That’s what I use on my Tacoma with IFS and 38” tires. No issues.
Thanks for the input, I’m just gonna go back to OEM cv. RCV would be nice too but couldn’t justify spending $2500 on this IFS setup. Planning to go SAS one of these day.
