It is looking really nice guys. For Bonnie, some pallets are disposable pallets for single use only, and some pallets, like Europallets (those have a stamp on it that says Euro) are meant to be used again, and there is an international system for those so that it is easier for transporting companies to reuse them. They can charge the pallets that they delivered, or they can take back the same amount of empty pallets as that they delivered. There are even companies who refurbish those pallets so that they are guaranteed to be in good shape. But be careful with which pallets that you want to burn, because some pallets are treated with chemicals. If they are treated with chemicals then the code that is stamped on the pallets will tell you that. I don't remember the exact code, but you can look that up. If you start cutting those you will be left with a lot of dangerous chemicals on your land. Via the worms and insects it will end up inside the eggs from your chickens, and that is not a hyperbole. That is what is happening here in the Netherlands, and in the entire country people are advised not to eat the eggs from their own chickens for that exact reason. Not that pallets are the only cause for the pollution, because in many cases it is caused by industrial processes. But the chemicals in pallets are just as bad. And it is not exactly safe to burn them either. Some of those chemicals can create a lot of soot, which is not not beneficial for the stovepipe. In any case it is best practice that you only burn untreated clean wood. Here in the Netherlands it is even illegal to burn wood that has been treated with chemicals or paint. Anyway, keep up the good spirit, thanks for sharing, and I am looking forward to the next episode. 👍

That is a nice roofing system. It all went pretty quick. I am sure that it wil make a big difference in terms of comfort in both winter and summer time. Not so long ago I applied some insulation in my 100 year old house, and that made it a lot more comfortable inside throughout the entire year, with a lot less energy costs. I also bought one of those digital laser thermometers that can detect cold bridges, and I have spend some time and effort to detect and insulate cracks and gaps as well, because no matter how high I would set the heat for the central heating system, I always used to have cold feet, because all the heat would rise up immediately. And now it also stays a lot cooler inside the house during heatwaves. Thanks for sharing I am looking forward to see the next episode. 👍

CORRECTIONS: The beach is not private because the banks of all rivers in Portugal are always public property. You can't buy them. You need a license to moor boats and install docks. The area which I know very well, has had HUGE wild fires in recent years, it is sourounded by eucaliptus for miles around, a wild fire has even crossed the river by air, when the wind took burning leaves across to the other bank and started burning in new areas. Highly dangerous. Some villages had to evacute by boat. Ask the locals at Pombeira village. The 2 mobile homes look like they don't have a license, the owner may get a fine and order to move them out. The "bunker" is a water mine, which is like a water well but dug horizontally into the side of the hill. Hence it is full of water and cannot be emptied.

Seems like a pretty strong wall to me. Double brick layer. Where I live it very common to put the beams directly on top of the bricks, and my house is 97 years old, it even survived battles during the second world war, the old bullet holes are patched up but still visible, and it is still standing.

@@ourjourneybeyond Thank you for answering my question. I was a bit confused to be honest, because here we have pretty much fixed prices for the utilities. I mean, there are some differences in price depending on which company that you use, but not a lot. And the cost of electricity does not change throughout the day. But I just did some more research and now I understand your answer a bit more. I came to the conclusion that the cost of utilities are much cheaper in Portugal compared to the cost of utilities in the Netherlands. It seems that everything is a lot more expensive here in the Netherlands.

It is a nice property. I was wondering, if you buy that property with all the olive trees and the grapevines, do you need any special permits or registration or anything else like that in order to be allowed to sell the produce? Can you hire people for the harvest without a massive amount of paperwork? Are you allowed to remove the olive trees and the grapevines if you don't want them? If the olives and grapes are also a source of income, then why don't you mention that in the videos? hahaha or is that common knowledge that only I don't know? In any case I would be very interested to see a video that explains a bit more about the farming aspect and how it works with harvesting and selling the produce and all the paperwork that need to be done, and how much money the average produce or harvest represents. With consideration that not all years produce the same amount of harvest. I mean, I am looking for an indication, not for exact numbers. Right now I am not interested to buy any property. But I am curious enough to tip my toe in the water in order to feel how warm it is. Until recently I was totally unaware that you can still buy a decent size property in Portugal or Spain for a reasonable price. And it might be something that I am interested in somewhere in the future. For now I try to learn more about the rules and regulations, and what the possibilities are in Portugal. I would be happy to see written reply here in the comments or a video in which you explain a bit more about the farming aspect. Thanks anyway 👍

@@sandiecroftartstudio4769 I agree with you, but it doesn't hurt to ask a person who has personal experience. I also don't speak Portugese. And I think that many other people who are just discovering these possibilities would love to know a little more about that aspect as well. To me the source of income aspect only seems to be a good selling point. Personally I am absolutely flabbergasted. I am from the Netherlands, and if you want to buy any property at all with some land you have to be a millionaire. A small scale fruitfarm is not even feasible here in the Netherlands unless it is an existing family business that goes from one generation to the next. Here we have a huge shortage of houses and space. If things seem unimaginable and impossible you don't even think or consider about the possibility. But if you can have a reliable source of income things can become possible.
