I'm sorry you found this video to be messed up. This is just a guide and still takes practice to master this feature. Depending on how you want your title block to appear, all the settings will change. For example, do you want ANSI or ISO specs? Landscape vs. portrait sheets? Column and row information? Once the title block has been designed, adding a title block to your sheets is extremely easy and takes less than 6 minutes to add it to your drawings. If you still need help you can reach out to your partner for support.

SOLIDWORKS Premium routing is all manual routing, while the SOLIDWORKS Electrical Routing add-in allows for automatic routing of wires, cables, and harnesses. Additionally, you can combine the two. For example, auto-route wires and then manually add additional coverings - like a loom or snakeskin.

@@Leozhang-iMYY Not necessarily. SW Routing comes with a piping, tubing, and an electrical tab. Mechanical folk typically use these features, because it is built into SOLIDWORKS, and almost every user of SOLIDWORKS is a mechanical user... I have seen many folks use the SWElectrical auto route function to route wires, cables, and harnesses - but also mimic hydraulic hoses. In conjunction with SWElectrical on the 2D side, instead of a connector and wire, you can create a fitting and a hose. In my personal opinion, SWElectrical should be called SW Schematics, because it can cover much more than just electrical. But, I'm not a marketing guru, or high enough on the executive food chain to make that decision...🙂

@@SOLIDWORKSElectrical this is exact what I have been telling also: its not just electrical - its schematics (process, pipes, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical).

In the project configuration, you can change the formula for what information you want to display with the OD arrows. i.e. row + column, or sheet + column, or to from component + terminal, etc.

If you are referring to the accessories - such as pins, backshells, etc. - once you add a "base" component, you can add accessories, or auxiliary components. Depending on your level of detail - you may or may not want to show them in the actual 3D assembly as they will probably be hidden inside the housing anyway and take up unnecessary computer resources. Hope that makes sense.

@@SOLIDWORKSElectrical What about ferrules? We usually crimp ferrules before connecting wires to a contactor, circuit breaker and etc. How to add them to a wire harness?

As a student, you can ask your school/college/university to help you get what is called an education or "EDU" license.

What version of SW are you running? Some of these functions have been added and enhanced in the more recent releases. If you're referring to the piece of heat shrink: 1. I created the part 2. Used the routing library manager (RLM) to define an axis 3. Saved the part to my design library for reuse later on. (Saved as a ‘clip’ (most closely related)) 4. Added a coincident mate reference using the axis. 1. NOTE: Creating the axis might not be necessary and a regular sketch line could be used when defining the mate reference. 5. In order to add the heat shrink, zip tie, sticky-back, accessory, etc. You'll need to 'Edit Route" so that you're in the subassembly of the harness. 6. Back out of the sub-assembly 7. Flatten route

Yes. You are correct in that you should be putting spec sheets directly into each part. However, this is a training video and it's simply showing the fact that you can embed documents such as spec sheets into the project. And from personal experience and as someone who travels for work quite a bit, embedding a reference document or spec sheet into the document tree doesn't make you a noob - it allows you to share the information 24/7 with your team and keep important documents right at your fingertips - so that you don't have to go search all over the internet or internal servers to find the appropriate information.

There is an option under the manufacturer part manager dialog to create an "electrical assembly" that includes all the components that would make up a connecter - i.e. backshell, pins, heatshrink, etc. or other type of component - such as a contactor with an auxiliary block attached to the front. Each part you add to the electrical assembly needs to exist in the library first. Then you can add each part to the assembly. (You can see the option for electrical assembly at 1:10)

Let me see if I can come up with a better workflow. This one worked in older versions in SWE. It might not work as well in later releases as things related to terminal blocks have changed and are changing.
