That's how you'll be able to afford a deposit for a flat in outer London. Of course you'll never be able to afford in central london, those are for old people or millionaires.

Hey fellow Singaporeans, let's not forget that we were literally trained for years to do these kinds of questions so it seems easy to us. I'm sure many of the older ones (like myself) can no longer do all the PSLE questions of the newer years with the same ease we did when we were actively studying and practicing for it. 😅 Adding on the fact that we probably forgot many of the formulas that we memorised. The trapezium question took me a while to remember that all sides add up to 360 degress and angles between parallel lines add up to 180 degrees which will help so much in solving haha. Let's not be so harsh on the people in the video and good job to them for trying their best!

The magazine question is kind of a logic question too. If you understand how it works, you can get it super quick without needing much calculation. Basically, you know that he sold more than 315 magazines, so options 3 and 4 are out as they're less than 315. You also know that because he left 1/4 of the original amount, the 3/4 includes the 315 magazines PLUS that 2/5 of the remaining amount, which means that this 3/4 of the original amount has to be more than 315. Since this is MCQ, you can make use of the answers/options provided, which you're left with options 1 (540) and 2 (405). 405 seems suspiciously close to 315 (don't forget that 3/4 of 405 must give you more than 315). At this point, if you have no time, you can just make an educated guess and choose option 1 (540) already. But if you want to confirm, you can just calculate the following: So we start by dividing 405 by 4 then times 3 (getting the 3/4) gives you 303.75 which is less than 315, which means that option 2 (405) is not the answer. Thus, option 1 (540) is the answer. If you're not confident, you can work backwards from the option to confirm (which is also way faster and easier to understand than trying to work foward following the question): 540 - 315 = 225 225 ÷5×3 (getting the 3/5) = 135 Now you know that this 3/5 left is 1/4 of the original amount, so you want to x4 to see if it gives you 540. And it does! So 135 × 4 = 540 Which confirms that option 1 (540) is the correct answer. (If I recall correctly, the MCQ paper of Math (Section A), we're not even allowed to use calculators so you'll have to calculate all these "manually" lol) TLDR: You just need to check if 3/4 of the 4 answer options gives you a number more than 315 since the 3/4 includes the 315 magazines plus the 2/5 of the remaining magazines sold. The setter of the question has kindly set only 1 option to pass this test (option 1, 540) so you don't have to check further haha
