One thing I like most about this scene is Mannix calling Warren by his military title and name than some form of slur, he still a racist but he can blur the lines in dire situations. Not only that but he requests permission like an NCO to a CO would, contrary to being on opposite sides of the civil war. At this point they've really gone through thick and thin together.
