Look. I've seen some good animatics about the rat grinders. I've seen some that have caused me to have genuine emotions. None have caused me to react as viscerally as seeing Porter have his hands on Gorgug or Fig, and seeing him even be near Zelda made me understand what a barbarian rage must feel like. This was absolutely awful to feel. Amazing job, I hated it.

I actually prefer this to the live musical version, because the kids look like KIDS. They're so squidgy-looking, and I love how innocent and playful they are as they plan the prank. It makes what happens afterwards seem much more horrifying.

I'm obsessed with this, it's so amazing. The way it tells the story of the war between the giantkin and the Breaking of the Cliffs, the way Porter is so sinister in even his most mundane interactions, the inclusion of Zelda (it hadn't occurred to me that she was one of his students, how many students did he influence in some way?), hand placement on his protégés, Ankarna and Cassandra's design and expressions, the trapped feeling from Jace, the transition between Porter and Jace, Ankarna and Cassandra, and Lucy and Kipperlily being so jarring in the best way, the way the beat is used to accentuate the art, the RECREATION OF THE WAR AND THE BREAKING OF THE CLIFFS with the Rat Grinders and Bad Kids--it's FLAWLESS. It's my new favorite thing. This is pure art.

There are so many great details in this, but I love showing the Rat Grinders alongside their teachers, then Mary Ann without Porter and Eugenia Shadow without Kipperlilly. Mary Ann looking away shows so much emotion for her, being hurt by what he did, and Eugenia doing the same. So simple and so effective.

I’ve watched this so many times and only just~ now~ saw the connections between the fight at the beginning and the fight with the Rat Grinders and Bad Kids. Ruben and Ankarna both screaming, Ivy and a person both being stabbed on the ground, Oisin and someone both being shanked in the back, Kipperlilly and someone ending up at the bottom of a cliff. Just amazing~.

I do not have the words to describe how fucking great this is I watch it like every day I appreciate how much love you clearly put into this masterpiece and how much you care about these little fucking assholes because I want nothing more than to see them have a shot at redemption 😭

also can i just say you tell the story so well. i was so upset at the bad kids for wanting to kill them in the finale, even though they knew the rage wasn’t by choice for most of them. genuinely the high 5 heroes’ story had so much depth to it and i’m soooo forever grateful that brennan made the choice for his players and reincarnated the kids.such an amazing video, you have insane talent!!!!
