Puerto Rican Sofrito Recipe
Sofrito Recipe:
- 1 bunch recao
- 1 bunch cilantro
- 1 cup garlic
- 1 onion
- 3 sprigs oregano
- 10 ají dulce peppers
- 2 cubanelle peppers
- 1 orange, yellow, and red pepper
Garlic Paste:
- 3 cups garlic
- Vegetable oil
Instructions:
1. Blend 3 cups of garlic and 1/4 cup of vegetable oil until a paste forms. Set aside.
2. Add all of the vegetables to your blender and blend until finely chopped.
3. Add garlic paste to each cube in your ice cube tray. Top off with the sofrito mixture and place in the fridge overnight.
4. Once frozen, remove and put the cubes in a sealed container or plastic storage bags.
Sofrito keeps for 2-3 months in the freezer.

American cheese? 🤢 this is an Americanized Jibarito, sorry but definitely not authentic.
they put american cheese in the jibaritos in chicago where jibaritos originally come from. american cheese is traditional in a jibarito. it's like the cuban sandwich comes from tampa and not cuba

I didn’t use my plantains right away and they’re on the yellow side, can i still use them for the jibarito or will it change the flavor or taste?
I actually used some that were slightly yellow last week and didn’t notice a difference. You can always prep them when they’re green and freeze them. When you’re ready to use just fry ‘em up!

About 30 minutes but it depends on the thickness of the steak

I wish the jibaritos were sold in Arkansas. I was down town in Chicago, we went to a Puerto Rican restaurant. We ordered the jibaritos, and really enjoyed it. I have looked high and low for a restaurant that makes them here in Arkansas
that sucks! hopefully you’re able to find a place that makes jibaritos, or at least the ingredients to make them on your own! ☺️
Nurses are never carefull it’s always better mom and dad doing the bat. That’s why baths are home are always gone wrong because they remember when nurses make the hospital baths.
