Day 3 is a one day class called 'Imagery by Stencil' and it's all about the ...

Free motion quilting fern fronds
Просмотров 6306 лет назад
Watch me free-motion quilt on my domestic sewing machine around some fern fronds on my latest art quilt. Note: the needle sounds a bit blunt, but that's the sound it makes with the layer of silk organza plus an applique layer underneath - lots of layers to punch through!

Просмотров 1,1 тыс.6 лет назад
This is the second video in my Gelatos® series. It shows the next few steps I took on my experimental quilt after the first video where I stencilled on fabric using the Gelatos® paint sticks. I talk you through how I outlined the stencilled leaves, how I colour and draw on silk organza and how I fuse it to the background.
Stencilling with Gelatos® on Fabric

In this video, watch me experiment using Gelatos® and a negative image stencil on fabric. These creamy, water-based paint sticks can be used on fabric if they are heat set afterwards. Probably best not to use them on everyday wearing items as they are NOT specifically fabric paints (as I mistakenly say on the video), but they are perfect for textile art pieces! What was the stitch length and how wide was your original stop 2.5” ?
I so love your work.
Thank you so much!
Your work is very interesting and beautiful 😀
Thank you, that's very kind of you.
Hope they all fill! Your work is amazing! I love dyeing my own fabrics and I love your colour with texture title. I’m not an art quilter, more of a piecer. I could be happy making triangle quilts over and over!

I have watched so many videos and this has been the best. Not confusing, you make it look so much easier and your calm way of teaching with a normal accent (lol, nearly normal. I’m an Aussie and you I suspect are from over the ditch). Thank you

Preciosa técnica par hacer un Edredón o colcha, bolso. Gracias por compartirlo
Thanks so much for sharing
Can you leave the freezer paper attached to the fabric? I like the idea of the freezer paper helping you get crisp edges when you iron the seam allowances, but it seems like it would be difficult to take the paper out at that point without ruining the crispness. But it also seems like you'd want to take the freezer paper out rather than leave it in because of what would happen to the paper when the quilt goes through the wash.
I have left the freezer paper on the fabric. My mother has made large appliqued quilts leaving the freezer paper in.
Great idea, thanks for sharing 🙏 hope i can practice like that I also make print with plant on fabric , i use natural dyeing process you can watch my video on my channel. Big thanks 🙏
THANK YOU

I got to see the Kyoto Shibori Museum, and it was even more amazing than it sounds! wanderingwindblog.com/post/kyoto-shibori-museum
Wow 😮 nice.
What is the name of color? And how to do it.
Which brand colour do you use
Hi Maryam, any good fabric or textile paint will work. You want a paint with a thick consistency, not watery. I use one made in New Zealand by CCG industries. A brand like Liquitex or Jacquard will work well.
Very good lesson on how to use freezer paper in quilting. I bought some paper months ago but wasn't sure how to use is. You've explained it so well. Thank you
Beautiful!
