It is actually odd that we call Strawberries "Jordbubbar" in swedish... since traditionally we used to pick wild strawberries and put them on straws... so straw berries is actually correct historically speaking in sweden. But, now they are "earth old men" ... Very strange.

They are sold frozen in every food store but are also sold fresh in cafes, probably every cafe has a version of it either like a big cake for many or smaller one-size portions. Im a bit unsure but I also think Grodbakelse ( frog cake ) is a version of the same concept, just a bit more funny looking.

Keep in mind that the word ”empire” is a foreign label in this case. Officially, we were a kingdom throughout this who era. However, I guess we expanded enough to be considered an empire in the English language. We were considered a great power in Europe at the time though, hence the imperial label. In the first place, this is a lingustic issue. We technically have the word ”imperium”, but that’s a loan word, and is never really used when talking about Sweden. Similar to the German word ”reich”, we have a similar word; ”rike”. It very roughly translates into something close to ”realm”. Even today, the official name of Sweden is ”Konungariket Sverige”. Which breaks down to ”the Kingly Realm of Sweden”. Although, the correct translation is of course ”the Kingdom of Sweden”. If we were an empire, our country would be a ”kejsarrike” (instead of a konungarike) or a kejsardöme (which would be something like ”Ceasardom” in English). The word ”imperium” is more often used to talk about Rome, or overseas empires.

Interesting, being a Swede, seeing modern wars up front, having work at the war crimes Tribunal in the Hague, being an Officer in the Reserves myself with loads of experiences what war is about and where Sweden is today with "rebuilding" its Total Defence concept in an again troublesome and uncertain world,...as this appeal to certain types of citizens,..it also narrow what is today to be "proud to be a Swede" excluding the "new Swedes" who are all crucial to our defence and future society. Geat song otherwise,..but please be wider in expressing pride of our beautiful country, Sweden as it is fantastic and where our values as well. :-)

I don't think you can get the true feeling without being Swedish, this is so much of what we are and it's really patriotic. Most Swedes are proud of our history and this summons it up perfectly.
