When you only care about the price and nothing else, YOU are the reason companies outsource. YOU are the reason people lose their jobs. Every single time you choose to buy a product made in China instead of one made in your own country, just because it’s cheaper, you’re actively contributing to the destruction of local industries. You don’t care where a product is made? That’s exactly the problem. When you ignore the origins of the goods you consume, you’re endorsing a system that exploits slave labor overseas, puts unsafe products on shelves, and siphons money out of your own economy, sending it straight to foreign governments-governments that then use it to build their militaries and strengthen their grip on global power. Cheap imports need to be abolished when domestic production is available. Full stop. It’s time people started understanding the real cost of those “affordable” products they’re so eager to snap up. If you can’t afford to buy a higher-quality product made in your own country, then do what generations before you did: save your money and wait. Yes, that’s inconvenient. Yes, it might take longer. But this obsession with instant gratification is exactly what’s driving the race to the bottom. You’re not saving money-you’re mortgaging the future. The arrogance and short-sightedness of people who defend this behavior are staggering. You think you’re safe? You think your job is somehow immune to the same forces of outsourcing and automation? Think again. It’s only a matter of time before your position is deemed expendable, either outsourced to someone cheaper or replaced entirely by AI. When that day comes, will you still be so smug about saving a few dollars on a cheap, foreign-made product? Or will you finally understand what your selfishness has cost you and everyone around you? Governments need to step in and stop this madness. Citizens must be forced to prioritize domestically made products when they’re available. Policies like tariffs, subsidies, and outright bans on cheap imports are essential to protect local industries, jobs, and national security. If people are too selfish or ignorant to make better choices on their own, then it’s up to leadership to enforce those choices for the greater good. This isn’t just about economics. It’s about morality. It’s about safety. It’s about ensuring a future where communities can thrive, where families can work with dignity, and where nations aren’t held hostage by foreign powers profiting off exploitation. So yes, if you’re one of those people who “doesn’t care where a product is made,” then understand this: YOU are to blame for outsourcing. YOU are to blame for lost jobs. And YOU are the reason this destructive cycle continues. Own it-or better yet, change it.

The Mastodon song was a good choice to demo. The guitarist uses Duncan Distortion, and it sounds like this Donlis model is closer to that than a DiMarzio Super Distortion to my ears.

I tryed Donlis and Fleor. Donlis are great, Fleor are not.

A great review, thanks a lot! I'm a happy owner of one. I can add two points. 1st: Pockrock evidently has a built-in noise gate with a long release. 2nd: those channels depend on the pickups. My grx40 does not give enough heat. So I added my Rushead with DS before Pockrock with delays and mod FX and now it's fine.

I think those pickups sound fantastic...very articulate, very dynamic.

I bought one of these new in 2010 and hated it immediately. However after having it for quite a number of years, the sound has gotten so much better. Perhaps the speaker just need a proper break-in? Now I really like it.

Your review is misleading. What are your amp settings? The distortion sounds very thin. I would boost the bass up, and put the treble up halfway, and have mids on low to get a true heavy metal sound. Also Epiphoneys suck. Nothing beats a real Gibson.

Just out of curiosity have you ever played a real Dual Rectifier? They don’t actually have that much gain on tap from the rip. I would actually say the Amplitube 5 model was fairly accurate based on your demo.

If you think of tight chugs when you think about a Rectifier, you've probably either only heard boosted ones or you never heard one. Also, I got way better results than what you got with the Amplitube, granted Dual Rectifiers are not my thing :D

I was just recommended a few of your videos today, September 28th. I hear what you're saying here. The way the others do it is you have to wait for the funds to start coming in to spend money. One way that comes in is through youtube ad revenue. Since you're over 1000 subs, you can start getting that now. You can also set up a Patreon account to get monthly income from subscribers to help pay for the stuff. You can do many different types of videos without having to buy anything - Just playing guitar, maybe live streams talking to people, reviewing albums, songs, playing along with songs, etc. Just some suggestions.

I bought this Randy Rhodes style guitar from this guy who got it from China and it had these Belcat in it and there must b something wrong because they did not sound like yours there was hardly any output at all I got a 1970s super Distortion to put in it hope it sounds better than the belcats thanks Richard from Pittsburgh Pa

I upgrade a Squier Mustang and Jazzmaster with this pickup set (Alnico V). They sound way better than the previous one. You loose the "high gain due to very hot pickup typical tone" but it gives more clarity, smoothness and that bluesy tone wich is more versatile and respect the amp sound signature. For the price it's a very nice upgrade.
