I wanted to be a Marine; Military Series
I'm issuing this video on the Marine Corps Birthday 10 November 2024. I can't say I celebrate the Army Birthday at all, however on November 10 a few years ago the Marine Corps bought me 2 (Real) Beers when I was down range working for them. At that time, I swore to honor the Corps' Birthday. It is then my duty and honor to say, "Happy Birthday" as I lift a Spotted Cow tonight!
To all of my Brothers and Sisters, Thank you for your sacrifice!

    The last part you took off is the same for the small radiator at the front as well its ford part # YL32 7D273 AA just cost me nearly $60 for one of them today but its guaranteed to work the first time without problems.

    • @StilesAutomotive
      @StilesAutomotive 2 дня назад

      Jeremiah, Yep for 2004 the F-150 was in a transition year, some of the F-150s were 10th Generation and some were 11th Generation. And your Truck may be 11th Generation, like my 2005, but may still have some 10th Generation parts. At the Ford Parts website - ford.oempartsonline.com you can put in your VIN, this may help you find the right parts, you don't have to buy from them, but they have photos and drawings of the parts. - Stiles

    I served in the Corps from 1970 to 1973. After my separation from the Corps, I joined the NYC Police Dept. While there I joined the NY Army National Guard for a couple of years. Finally decided I had enough and concentrated on my career in the NYC Police Dept. But, I'm proud to have served in the Marine Corps and the Army National Guard. Semper Fi.

      @StilesAutomotive 7 дней назад

      John, I've always said, everyone's Army is different. Meaning everyone's experience is different, I'm glad your experience was positive. In the Army National Guard and Army Reserve, I've worked with many Fire Fighters, Police Officers (of different organizations), and a Game Warden. I'd like to think, one experience made them better at the other. In fact, I'm sure it did. I've had many good experiences working with individual Marines, Former Marines, and Marine Organizations. We all have tough skin and the inter-service ribbing is fun. I'm glad you took the video that way. Thru good times and bad, for the part you played, for your sacrifices, I thank you! And . . I do appreciate your comment! - Stiles

      Albornoz, Sorry, man, I've got nothing for you. Dorman makes new 1/2" size Disconnects, but not the 3/8", I don't know why! New Radiators (from many different manufacturers) come with new Disconnects. Where are they getting them from? There are Millions of them out there on Ford Vehicles. Why doesn't Ford still have them? I don't have a good answer for you. I appreciate the feedback on the video! - Stiles

    If you replace the brake caliper, do you need to bleed just that side?

    • @StilesAutomotive
      @StilesAutomotive 19 дней назад

      Lopez, Well . . . yes, but like I stated in the Video. I like to change the Brake Fluid whenever I do a Brake Job. The Brake Fluid absorbs moisture from the air and become contaminated, at the Caliper Replacement is the perfect time to change it by bleeding the Brake System until you get clean Fluid. And . . . when I say "yes" . . . If you are working on the front Brakes and Some Rear Brakes, the Individual Brake Caliper is plumbed separately, so they are independent and you can just bleed the one. However, on most Rear Brake Caliper, there is one line running to the Rear of the car and I would recommend bleeding both Calipers. - Stiles

    Your videos have helped me maintain and keep my 2013 Mustang 3.7 v6 running smoothly without the need to take it to a mechanic. Keep up the excellent DIY videos.

      Stephen, You are welcome, I appreciate the feedback. I've always enjoyed working on my own cars, I hope you will as well. A few things/ideas that have been helpful to me. 1) Buy the Ford OEM Service Manuals and Wiring Diagram Manuals for your Mustang (Helm.com), 2) Buy the Tools as you need them (You are saving about 1/2 the cost when you DYI, so spend the money on Tools), 3) and since you are saving about 1/2 the cost, research and buy the best quality parts, ie spend a little more for quality. - Stiles

    I don't grasp doing the chalk test cold. Since driving is basically done with hot tires and you want even wear, why not chalk with a hot tire? I understand what the factory says with stock tires, but this is dialing it in not a general PSI.

    • @StilesAutomotive
      @StilesAutomotive 28 дней назад

      Tim, Yes, you want to figure out the correct pressure at the condition where you do the most driving. I think I stated in the Video, that I like to look at my Tire Tread all of the time. The BF Goodrich All Terrain are soft in warm conditions (like above 70 degrees F, a better winter road tire actually) and you can easily see the wear without chalk. I appreciate the comment! - Stiles

      FGM, yep, Sling position and style is a matter of preference. I do use a One Point Sling on just one of my Rifles, but I don't like the lack of control and I don't like my Rifle pointed at my Foot. I don't mind it pointed near my Foot, but not at my Foot. Anyway, I think the Magpul Sling is made so you can use it, try it, and change it if you want to. - Stiles

    If you attach the back of a sling on the opposite side of your butt stuck in the back, you’ll have way more adjustability, it’s way more comfortable, and it won’t be hitting stuff when you’re maneuvering or trying to be quiet or whatever so it would be on outside of the stock where it touches your right forearm not where the stock touches your chest

    I bought the DWS779 for a great price, caught a really good deal at Lowe’s for $399. Then bought all the parts to add the cut line system from MMtool parts. They are replacement parts for the DWS780 - from DeWalt. I don’t really care for the couple other things the 780 has like the stops for 22.5 and 33 or whatever they are and the slide stop latch.

    will it work with a 7.62x39 AR15 platform???

      Caballero, No, these Followers are made to fix the problem with US Government Issue 30 round Magazines. Hopefully, the magazines you select for your 7.62x39 don't have this feed issue. - Stiles

    Could you get some kind of rubber boot material and clean and grease the u-joint really well and then fasten the rubber boot over top to protect it all?

    • @StilesAutomotive
      @StilesAutomotive Месяц назад

      Emmett, That is a good idea, I have thought of that. My top Joint is close enough to the Exhaust Manifold that heat is a factor. I know Granger ( the industrial supply company) use to have some mechanical transmission/shaft boots, but I have not investigated this at all. You know if Ford would have done a boot from the factory, like you suggest, these Bearings would last forever. I appreciate the comment, if you find a solution to this problem, I'd love to hear it! - Stiles

    My 2011 Mustang Shelby GT500 check engine light came on and when I used an OBD2 code reader is had a diag. code 0456. I cleaned the capless filler area, ,used WD40 around the filler hole/flap and then used the nozzle from the gas pump to go in/out several times. Cleared the code and haven't had it come back so assume the problem was the filler flap not closing properly due to dirt/grime.

      Macker, Our Capless Filler Necks are getting old enough now, I expect many, many vehicles will have problems with them. I'm glad it helped in your case! i appreciate the comment. - Stiles

      Phillip, This video (and the repair) was done about 3 years ago, and I did a follow-up video about 2 years ago, and the repair looks very good. My crack was in a place that I don't sit on, it was in the corner of the Seat. My tractor has been outside most of the summer (building a new shed, used the old shed for lumber storage) and the repair still looks like the follow-up video I did a couple of years ago! - Stiles

    Thanks for the video. There's one more cause of misfire that I've come across. Water leaking into the spark plug hole . filling up the hole about a half inch up. I have no idea how the waters getting in . their after market ebay coils . I just pulled them all and goopped the boots with dielectric grease to get a better seal .

      Anthony's Dad, Good Tip! and Yep, I like to use lots of Di-electric Grease on all electrical connectors, You have to be careful not to get it on the transmitting surface, however. - Stiles

    Brilliant video. Great attention to detail and closeups of the various components as well as SHOWING every step not glossing over anything. It is very helpful to see someone actually click the quick connect end into the fitting.
