They had to move it to keep unprepared people like him from going out there. Sad part is that this river has a way to cross it not far from that bus, a cable trolly thing. It's on a map of the area...like I said. Unprepared.

TAKE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT THE BUS HE DIED IN. This is the bus used in the movie INTO THE WILD that was about him. The original bus had a split, 2-piece windshield with a metal frame down the middle for one thing. Google photos and see for yourself.

Controls looking smooth! Getting that shutter angle down to twice your frame rate will help with motion blur. Really smooth it out. Can you adjust on your drone? I have to use ND's on mine.

i came into haines today along side that river .past the porcupine cut off and never seen how beautiful that river is from the air with all the channels with the drone .got my tshirt 2 days ago with logo "thanks for NOT shooting down my drone "

Back in 1999 while I was living in Haines, a pacific white-sided dolphin was reported hanging around the launch ramp dock at Letnikof Cove. That was strange enough all by itself, considering pacific white-sided dolphins are usually found in the Gulf of Alaska, but certainly not in the Inside Passage. But what was REALLY strange, was when I drove my family over to Letnikof Cove to take a look. Upon walking out on the dock, we couldn’t miss seeing this dolphin as it would literally swim right up to the dock and let you pet it! If you gave the dolphin certain hand signals, it would perform tricks, like jumping out of the water, etc. It was almost like having Flipper there (if you are old enough to remember that T.V. show). We thought maybe this dolphin had somehow escaped from Sea World or something like that, because that is definitely not normal behavior for a wild dolphin. Anyway, people started feeding this thing fish that they caught (it would eat right out of your hand) and people were also jumping into the water and holding onto the dolphin who would take the person for a quick tow around the cove! After a couple of weeks of this, Alaska Fish & Game got wind of what was going on at Letnikof Cove and stationed a game warden at the top of the launch ramp stopping people from “molesting the wildlife” and we were no longer allowed to go play with the dolphin. After a few days of this, the dolphin left the area. Leave it to Fish & Game to screw up something fun! ☹

Yeah his story wasn’t as pretty as the movie.

I understand the decision to move it but at the same time, I personally feel like its violating the grave if Chris. Maybe thats a bit too extreme but the voice in the back of my mind just says its disrespectful.

Please people. 1st he was no legend. That kind of thinking led to at least 2 people dying trying to visit that bus and an awful lot of very expensive rescues. They could not keep people from trying to imitate him and get to that bus so it had to go. He was totally unprepared mentally, he didn't do any research on the area or the river, apparently, which would have been a good idea. And he didn't have any sort of preparation as far as more then rice to eat. He didn't even have boots. The guy who gave him a lift gave him boots. No kind of survival backpack or anything. Sorry he died but I don't have ideas of grandeur about him. He was naive and ignorance of mother nature is always a bad idea.
