How do you measure distances between property posts/markers in heavily wooded areas?
In most cases, it's relative to your situation or distance. If you don't have professional equipment for approximate findings, you can use whatever works best for your situation, it isn't uncommon to use a range finder, measuring wheel, or measuring tape. Many free GIS sites offer online measuring tools for linear feet and acreages that are also helpful.

We don't mark a tree with an axe or machete. That was in the early 18 hundreds before the found ou trees grow. I've been a surveyor for 23 years. There are ways to put a mark in trees but I have seen microbursts destroy those trees. Do not depend on a realtor to show you the boundaries of your property.
I have a question. Do surveyors ever "offset" a rebar marker in the event there is a significant tree in the spot where the pin should be?
Surveyor from Utah here. Yes, sometimes. That's why it it important to contact the County Surveyor for published previous surveys. Just because you find a metal lot corner rebar or pipe, does NOT mean that is the actual calculated lot corner.

Stupid mix that is difficult to keep burning. For many years I used 50/50. I removed the check safety ball and seat and screen. They were always clogging up. When you do it this way, the fuel always comes out fast and is excellent if you are on a vehicle. "YOU" determine how fast you want it to go. Never had any issues after 18+ years.
