Viking Leathercrafts
Добавлен 15 мар 2017
Viking Leathercrafts was first started in 1985 by making leather armor and accessories to pay the way to medieval recreation events in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). With practice and technique, the leather craft was honed and grew, as well as the demand for our products. 30 years later, our products are still going strong and are being worn by countless swordsmen all over the world.

Lugged Sole Add On for Period Shoes at Viking Leathercrafts
Просмотров 7837 лет назад
This is the process we use to add the lugged soles onto our period footwear. The pattern on the soles is more like a combat sole and we suggest this option to our customers that are involved in live combat. It also protects the bottoms of the shoes for a more longer lasting sole. These boots and many others are available on our website: www.vikingleathercrafts.com/ Find us on Facebook at: faceb...

Your awesome brutal idea.
Slick video! What camera do you use? (Love my belt BTW)
I love my belt from frank! You'll never buy any other leather belt.
Dont fall, you might hurt yourself Thank you very much. We pride ourselves in making a top notch belt.
I have one of your belts - really like it!
Justin Young Thank you Justin. We appreciate the support
Thanks for the comment Mr Krabs. The leather is 13-15 ounce leather on the lames and when you layer them like we do it’s almost a half inch thick leather. We make real armor for real combat fighters. Sometimes it’s costume wear and is a lighter option. Sometimes things don’t look the same on camera than in person. Thanks again for the comment. Our armor is tried and tested by many an SCA and Dagorhir fighter.
This is amazing work, but it seems too thin to truly protect the wearer.
You guys are the only footwear link on my resources page for my reenactment troupe. You simply make a better product than anyone else and I'm happy to see it's a family company.
Awesome.
The production quality of these videos is awesome.
Love your work, also 100th subscriber!
Thank You!
Would love for a video showing how to care for your shoes. I just ordered a pair today June 7th. I want to make sure they stay top quality for years.
This is great stuff! Thanks for sharing.
Whats the max thickness you think leather can be and still be a turned bag?
It really depends on how pliable the leather is. But from what I have worked with so far, a 6-7 ounce is tough enough in a chrome tanned leather. A harder tempered vegetable tanned max would be a 4-5 ounce. But again it all depends on the pliability of the leather. And your decision to wet the leather or not. I don’t wet the leather. I just put these gorilla arms and hands to work. Thanks for your question.
@@vikingleathercrafts3094 Thank you for the reply
These bags are extremely nice
Thank you Betty. And the smell of the leather is just overwhelming too.

Thanks Dominic. I do love the celtic music. We are going to tone it down a little for the next video to be more background music. Next video is coming in the next few days.
I envy all the cool tools you have to aid your excellent work. Cool channel, I loved to watch the good craftsmenship
Thank you. It has taken many years to accumulate all the machines we use. I will make a video of the shop to show off our toys and how we use them as well. Thank you for taking time to comment. It is very much appreciated. Frank

We will have another one in less than a week hopefully!
Hello Michael. It is great to hear from you. I have been working with leather for many years and it is one of the most rewarding things I have been able to do. It almost has a Zen like quality about it. The repetitive steps. When I have problems I have to work out, I go into the shop and make something. Enjoy the craft!
excellent craftsmanship, gentlemen
I recently received a pair of boots exactly like the ones in this video (Viking 3-toggle boots) . They are great boots - very comfortable and fit true-to-size. Honestly, I like them far better than any of the "modern" footwear I have. If you are thinking about getting a pair of these, DO IT! You won't be sorry.
Excellent. Enjoy.
