Apple Pie with Flaky Crust--Tutorial
Просмотров 1444 года назад
Step by step demo on making the perfect pie crust and apple pie filling. I use this same crust recipe for any fruit pie. For cherry or berry pies, I cut the top crust in strips and weave, brush with milk and dust with sugar. For pumpkin, I make half the recipe and freeze before filling and baking so the crust stays flaky! The tradition has been passed done in my family to me... I hope you will ...

    So having the blue side up is no good? It would seem they work better that way because it gives air an opportunity to well between the ring material and the water. That helped with those solar mat/covers. Thanks for the demo!

    4:58 You glued it and screwed it. Dad passed away in 2001 (22 years ago) at the age of 74 and I was 41 at that time. I'm 63 now. On every woodworking project we ever did, dad would "glue it and screw it." I never realized until just a few days ago while telling that to my sister that dad was making a joke there, by enjoying the freedom to say "screw it." He said that to me for 41 years and I never realized he was making a joke.

    Is the outside ring big enough to feed a pool noodle through instead of air ?

    • @boakesart507
      @boakesart507 Год назад

      The only opening is the blow valve, so it would not be possible as they are designed, However, if you wanted to cut the ring open to slide in something a little smaller than a noodle, you could probably do that. Water would get into the outer ring of course, so the float device would need to compensate for that. The pool noodles I have would be too wide to fit in the outer ring.

    It looks like you need to secure the slides to the back of the cabinet, not to the bottom? Can you confirm that, before I purchase? I'm trying to figure out an undercount slide under my island stove top which has an obstruction (downdraft vent), so I can not attach to rear, only bottom. I also can't use side mounts (or prefer not to), because face frame width is like 5 inches on both sides and don't want to use spacers that big.

    • @boakesart507
      @boakesart507 3 года назад

      I attached to the bottom front corners of the drawer opening and to the back wall of the cabinet/house. They can be attached to the sides of the cabinets if your cabinet is framed on the sides, but mine were open.

    What was the dimensions of your drawer, not including the front panel.

    • @boakesart507
      @boakesart507 2 года назад

      The widths varied, but the length of my boxes were 19 inches. I had to add shims and a block to make them 21.75 inches long to fit the slides. the cabinets were 23.5 inches deep and I added boards in the back to screw the slides into... so 23" deep cabinets. The slides allow about a 2 inch variation of depth to the back of the cabinet. I did a lot of trial and error and bought several different lengths of slide to see what worked with my box/cabinet depth dimensions and returned the ones that were too short or long.
