This a 48 x 24 x 18 90 gallon tank with a DIY sand waterfall. It is cycled. I test regularly. The catfish have been in the tank for 1 1/2 weeks. They don't hide EVER. They seem like they're waiting for food. They do swim on the bottom & periodically swim up the glass even when I am not in front of the tank. They're supposed to be bottom dwellers and hide out in the day; I thought. I don't mind s...

I used a light coat of bees wax to lube the anchor shaft. It worked fine. Installation was super easy compared to the LFR I had previously. Big difference from the el cheapo version. Tried a special first but i returned it . The special seemed really cheaply made comparatively. No tuning issues anymore.
Guys stop with driling for the bigger posts just because it comes with a gotah no need to do that but if you are upgrading from a floyd special you do need to order off of Amazon upgraded stainless steel original floyd style posts and install and you may want to spend the extra 16 dollars for the guyker stainless steel stud upgrades so you don't run into the extra long stud issue. And you get upgrades locking but studs or screws too it's well worth it to spend an extra 30 dollars to avoid these extra headaches and avoid damaging your guitar when upgrading from floyd specials remember plan your builds no what you need to do and what you need before you just start driling bigger holes in your guitar when a little extra money will save you a bunch of headaches.
Gotoh bridges are said to sound amazing, I have no experience with them but for the people installing them is a good upgrade
The little screw inside the post is for locking the post in place once you get the posts in the right place!
Did you ever figure out what those small holes are for in the Gotoh stud posts? I always wondered that myself!
Never did. It works great the way that I installed tho. I have been doing a lot more tremolo dive bombs & back & forth tricks since the video. It stays in tune really well.
those screws are used for setting your desired string height and not having to fiddle to get it the way you had it if you accidently spun the post while setting it up etc. inside the allen key head theres a small screw inside of that allen head. you screw the set screw all the way in and then when you get your string height where you want it you can screw the inside set screw all the way to the bottom of the bushing. not only is it nice for getting your action the way you want it everytime, iit helps for tuning stability because the post is lock tight so there is no play even when theres no tension against the post
@@TheSlowik98No…not the stud locks in the center…the tiny hole on the SIDE of the actual stud post. You can see it around 4:10 and he talks about not knowing what it’s for at some point in the video. That part is at 6:28 - “there’s a hole on that part I don’t know what that’s for”
@@5urg3xohhh okay sorry, definitely read that a bit fast haha. I also wonder what that is for as well
@@TheSlowik98 It's a small hole to allow for cutting oil and chips to evacuate during the manufacturing process.
Hey Stephen. Good video, thanks One trick I use to remove the anchors is to drop a piece of metal (I use a PCB standoff) into the hole and then tighten the bridge post down. This pushes the anchor out with no risk of damage to the finish
This is awesome man🤘
Would it be possible to use the ORF studs instead of the gotoh one to prevent drilling into the guitar?
No, you will have to drill. I was hoping not to drill too.
@@stephencraig8578 ah ok, I appreciate the reply Final question, would a lockmeister trem be more compatible than a ge1996t? Would you need to drill for that one?
@@derusmares9508 I think the best way is to look at the specs. The circumference for the pole pieces are usually in mm. If you purchase something on Amazon & it doesn't work, it is easy to return it. I hope that you can figure out the best one for your guitar. 👍
@@stephencraig8578 thank you so much for the timely responses!
@@derusmares9508 The lockmeister is FAR SUPERIOR TO THE GOTOH. Hopefully you put your sissy fears of "drilling" aside and tackled this project like a man!!!!!!!!!
Nicely done. I've made up my mind to buy this instead of the FR Special
thx, you won't be disappointed.Take your time
@@stephencraig8578 will do. I bought a drill press tonight to do the job right. You did a good job. 👍
@@davespin9034 thx, send me a video when you completed it- if you can.
@@stephencraig8578 will do!
@@davespin9034 where is your video??? It's been 11 months???
haha..perfect! very clever..👍
Yes. Always use the anchors and studs that came with the new bridge. Even if you have to drill new holes. Unless you know for sure the studs are made of the same material as the base plate knife edges. Any mismatch will prematurely wear out the posts or the edges, which ever is the sifter material.
Nice work. Do you think i could use 11mm dril bit? Thnx
Thx, I think 11 will be too big. The stud housings have to be a tight fit so they don't come out when you use the tremelo bar. You can try a practice hole on a scrap piece of wood to see how it will be.👍
I thought same 11mm drill bit but too big I thought probably I'll try a 10" I'll go from there on scrap bit of wood why they dont make them all same size to make it easy lol
@@paulyoung4781 how did you get on? I have an 11nn bit but don't want to go drilling any holes that might be too big. I have measured the anchor as 11.25mm. I am also a little concerned about splitting the wood if I go too small.
@@gerrykavanagh buddy I used a 10.5mm for the stud holes and it worked absolutely brilliant I thought the same 11mm but after getting advice from people they said no? It's to big and studs will just fall out! And cause lots of problems,so I took advice used 10.5mm drill piece and took it slow I was panicking haha but got it done studs fit nice and snug now, take ur time tapping them in I put 80 grit sandpaper around my drill piece and went into the holes to smooth them holes inside the body! Tapped studs in slowly with abit of wood ontop the stud I never went crazy just taking my time and they will just go in my friend trust me!! U will manage what a difference with them studs mate tuning is absolutely sweet I only tune my guitar like 1 weekly just a quick tune it never needs much, and I use vibrato bending diving alot mate and still it stays in tune!! Just take ur time buddy be patient and have a clear head u will be fine I guarantee u mate.
10.5mm drill pice I'd recommend that's what I used.11mm will make holes just slightly to wide honestly! Definitely 10.5mm dude
Floyd Rose 2? Where did you find one of those? I have one on my 1994 Fotoflash Japan Fender Strat...I thought they made those Floyd's in Japan or Korea?....anyway. I did have a screw strip. Easy fix. A drop of Loctite, let it dry, maybe put on a skinny shim for more "grab" and re-drill the hole...The bar snapped? Wow! I am not that agrressive.. Just my 2 cents. Thanks.Cheers!
I got it in Amazon. thx for the tip.
@@stephencraig8578 Yeah, cool. I thought I was the only one with a Floyd 2. They supposedly have a really weak base plate. I re-sharpened the knife edges myself with a hand file. Not exactly "hardened steel" haha. Not the most sustain, the saddle screws can strip,.But it's on a 1994 Strat so I guess it's a keeper? Hard to upgrade without re-routing. Cool channel thanks.
@@algrundau9441 It is funny but, the Floyd Rose 2 was introduced to try to give a more vintage tone and appeal to older players. To do that they used zinc alloy instead of steel. The whole reason a good bridge is a good bridge is because it is made of steel, and not zinc alloy lol. The Floyd Rose 2 is pretty much worse than a Floyd Rose Special, but at the time cost the same as a Floyd Rose Original lol.
@@jrg770 No one seems to know much about these Strats, anything else you may know please share. The "Mystery" Strat??
@@jrg770 .as far as I know A Floyd Special is made of Zinc Alloy as well, The Floyd 2 had hardened steel plate/Zinc Alloy

thats some nice work sir. i want to learn how to do an rc lowrider. will these parts fit on a 1:25 plastic model car? with the exception of the battery.
thx,No, you would have to use micro servos.hoppinhydros.com/ makes a kit for 1/24-1/25 scale models.they sell on Amazon & Ebay also.
I made those out of these materials from Amazon. ASIN:B003YDPNPM, ASIN:B004TUE7RE I used the exsisting black plastic rod ends. You can use a thicker diameter(10-24) allthread rod with these rod ends too.
