What I love the most about this video is the very first “¡Arriba Natasha!” from a random Mexican fan in the audience. Don’t get me wrong, Řimnáčová’s immaculate performance was, in my opinion, one of the best structured floor exercises of these Olympics (having in mind, of course, that there’s very little visual material available of these games).

I tried to solve the 2-second delay of the original audio (which is also present in the Sapporo 1972 Official Film, probably to highlight her graceful final pose) to make the experience of watching this historic performance more genuine.

Taking into consideration the performances from the Soviet girls, it's very interesting to see how the German girls adapted the timing of the music - the music seems a little (or very) rushed and even out of sync sometimes. The pianist must have had a hard time trying to follow these gymnasts! Gnauck's performance is a great example of it. She earned a 9.90 for this exercise maybe just because ...

Her upper body articulation is poor as compared to Filatova and even Comaneci
Filatova and Comaneci were better on the dance.
This routine was waaaaay ahead of it's time. There were top level gymnasts in 84, 88 and 92 doing less than this.
I think Filatova was better than Shaposhnikova on floor

Her gold was a farce. She didn't even medal on floor. I remember Nadia saying in one interview she was getting death threats still for her floor gold in Moscow and I am glad she is.
