I'll stick with my TKS. I know they're messy but I never seem to mind messing up the aircraft when there's even a hint of ice. Not a fan of boots.

To Dean Jacobs, All aircraft equipped for night flights,have navigation lights installed on them.These AW 139's are powered by jet engines,with 4 bladed main rotors & tail rotors, to reduce noise. About your house shaking,maybe a military plane(cf-18 hornet) flew over your house at the same time going over mach speed?

but don't forget, there are also 3 different variations on the Dash 8... the Q300 is smaller than the Q400, and The Q200 and Q100 are smaller than the Q300, but the two have the same size.

Wings deicer boots it's the most practical and simple way to shed ice away,the air bleed system also good but it'll add weight and complexity :)

@BeeRich33 this is one of 9 for all of ontario (plus some fixed wing aircraft) and i know how you feel with the wake ups, every flight that goes into McMaster flys about 300ft over my roof on approach. and the main rotor tilts around for directional thrust, and the individual blades angle for lift

is this the new one that they use at the Sudbury Hospital...If so I was Outside one night and its very quiet but shakes the house's when its low...does it also have two big green lights underneath and flashing red light.....because it flew right over our community in Whitefish lake first Nation ...shook alot of house's and something else I notice it attracts...wait for this to post to say what it attracted...hmmm ...I think you's know already ...but I'll ask later..on...lol...

I love this plane despite being a turboprop. It's like a novelty thing. But I remembered flying on this plane on a bad storm front, I swear the plane veered sideways (a yaw) so much that it was my first time seeing one so apparent. It was pitching back and forth I couldn't even keep my white wine down and gave me heartburn all throughout the hour flight. Bad idea.

@Friendly0Dan The runways at YTZ aren't long enough for jets and if Porter moved even half of its operations to YYZ, it would mean a seismic shift in their business model. Still, there's no reason they can't open a base in YYC or YVR to serve Western Canada in Q400s independently.
