I have an obd1 scan tool, i didnt see you use that though
This guy . . .
.
what type of grease you put on balancer ?
I don’t recall. It was whatever I had laying around
would u also recommend these mods for a non termi 4v?
I have no personal experience with NA 4V’s, however engines are air pumps so yes they should work. Too what degree is another matter.
Man I not a ford guy but there's not to many modern cars that will beat it MOD FOR MOD ZR1 , ZO6 , ZL1, GT500 , AND HELLCAT. I'm talking straight line
Very true
Thank you for the video!
Hope it helps
Do you actually have to pull the intake or can that harness come through
@@brooklynmonster730 you don’t have to it just makes it way easier.
That sucks about your trip, but it made memories. Too bad you didn't know that an alternator from an 87 Grand Am and similar vehicles are identical to the 88 Fiero.
Thank you
Im about to by this kit for my GT. How has it been working for you since you installed it?
I can’t really say since the car was stolen not long after I installed it.
@@chiefrino6890 I'm sorry to hear that your car was stolen.
@@jamesestep9240 yea it was infuriating but it is what it is
Great job!
Thanks
Did you need a special tool to tighten Rodney's smaller alternator pulley onto the alternator?
@@zdmcdonal if you have an impact you can just hold the pulley while tightening the nut.
@@chiefrino6890I noticed after I commented that you were working on an 88, his 85-87 kit comes with a smaller alternator pulley as well to bring the voltage back up. I saw a post that said the supplied alt pulley is so small that a socket won't fit in the pulley around the nut and you need a special tool from Rodney. Rodney never mentions it in the listing, and doesn't have a special tool for it listed in his site either.
@@zdmcdonal I can’t speak with 100% certainty on the 85-87 kit as I haven’t messed with an 85-87 car in 15 years. However, I would recommend upgrading the alternator to a higher output one. This will eliminated the need for the smaller alternator pulley and still give better charging.
Does the second gen have tow mode?
Yes it does
How about drilling out tge 3 bolts and putting in 3 new nuts and bolts with the bolts from the top?
You could I suppose. But you’d still have to contend with getting something under neath to hold the bottom side in place.
Went in for a new TRP. Walked out with this never knowing they even existed. So happy I found one after doing post buy research. Awesome 1911. Congratulations on yours.
It’s definitely a keeper for sure!
Sounds like a decent ending.
It ended up working out in the end
Did you replace the EGR or delete it? If so, did it fix your running issues? I performed a smoke test on my 87' fox. I am getting the same leak at the EGR valve diaphragm and a leak the rear PCV valve grommet at the back of the engine.
I replaced it. It did for a while however the replacement started leaking around the diaphragm too. Not as bad, but still enough to cause issues.
I originally subscribed for fox content but I always liked the Fiero cars as well. Can’t wait to see what you do with this one 👍
Thank you! I promise content will come. Work has just been super busy this year.
Where in Arkansas are you located? I have an 88 and I'm in NWA
Outside of Little Rock
Hello, bro.
Hey!
Without EGR, why do you even need the spacer?
@@G.Harley.Davidson if you didn’t have an egr, you could run without the spacer. Unless you needed a spacer that necked down from your throttle body size to the inlet size of the intake manifold. However in the video, the car had an EGR.
@@chiefrino6890 thanks, I’d be using a 65mm Explorer TB to the 65mm upper intake from a GT-40 setup. I’ll have to mod the cable hookups from the Mustang to the TB.
@@G.Harley.Davidson yea you could probably get away without the spacer. Although your intake tube plumbing and cable linkage might be off
@@chiefrino6890 gotcha, thanks
@@G.Harley.Davidson no problem
Great video great story I bought an 87 GT in 2021 and I put a supercharged 3800 in it and it’s been one nightmare after another. Hopefully, I will have it on the road soon but it’s been sitting for a year and a half. Trying to get the electrical stuff figured out anyway, I love these cars. My first one was a 1986 notchback SE with the V6. I bought that in 1988.
Thank you! Good luck with yours!
You got yourself a couple of nice guns there! Enjoy
Thank you. Yes they are and yes I do!
What’s that yellow? I did one in Corvette millennium yellow about 2005 or so. Good advice about the coolant. I got stranded in the backwoods once due to improperly burping the coolant.
It’s called Talbot Yellow
That is a special fiero indeed
Thank you, yes it is indeed!
My very favorite car in the world. I bought a black 1987 GT after graduating college in 1991. Then I bought a 1986 SE six years ago. I owned both cars for a very short time, but absolutely loved them both. Thanks for the video.
They are awesome cars that are very under appreciated
@@chiefrino6890 I get sad when people complain they are not “fast”. Is an MGB or a Fiat X19 “fast”? They are just fun and nostalgic and beautiful. I love when is see a kindred spirit take care of a Fiero GT… and appreciate it for what it is.
@@davidparrishproductions5082 agreed. Plenty of other cars to serve that purpose
content great ; presentation sucked
Thanks for watching
Im thinking about getting a 2017
They are great trucks. If you plan on towing a lot I would recommend getting something else though. The truck has plenty of power to tow. But the suspension just isn’t meant for that.
Thanks again for the detailed video. Question, when you went to splice in the new negative and positive 10 gauge wires to the original fuel pump harness. How did you tell which was the negative wire from the positive wire on the original harness? By the color of the wires or...?
Yes. However as with any foxbody wiring, make sure you’re looking up the right year schematic whenever dealing with wiring.
Great and detailed video. What size gauge wire did you use to extend the short trigger wire. Thanks.
Which trigger wire are you referring to? Sorry been a long hot day at Ford Takeover
It's the one that you connected to the inertia switch But I just watched the lmr video and if I remember correctly, it's a 16 gauge wire that you probably used to extend so you could tap into the inertia switch.
Yea I think that’s correct IIRC
Hopefully I am getting a low mile Terminator tomorrow. Thx for the tips.
Good luck with your purchase!
What size is your stock throttle body can I upgrade to 70mm or75mm from 65mm stock on my mustang 5.0 1988
The stock throttle body is 57mm. You can but you will need to purchase the matching size egr spacer also. And depending on what intake manifold you have and what air filter intake, it may or may not be worth it.
For that price and shape, man I'm jealous. Great buy!
Thanks!
We used to unplug the distributor take out the number one plug put our thumb over the hole bump the starter until the compression blew out passed our thumb but we also was pulling motors out using a tree as a engine hoist shade tree mechanic at is best keep wrenchin stay safe 👍
Hey If it works
My fox mustang 5.0 stall every time when I take out the spout and don’t want to start back up have any idea thank you
The base timing is probably retarded too much. My guess your base timing is probably at around 0. Trying advancing the timing with it on. But be cautious, I’m talking a fine adjustment
About to install this kit on my ford escort
Good luck with the install!
Would you say overall it's mostly your standard SA 1911? I've seen one or two going for the $1300-$1400 range. A far cry from 3 years ago when it was closer to 2K. It's a handsome blaster, but I know that I would start replacing the MIM parts with Bar stock. SA Extractors are notorious for loosing spring tension by the 1K mark. Still, I find myself drawn to it. Good luck with it.
I’d say it’s better than that. Having the Wilson parts where it counts makes it better inherently. Do I think it’s a custom 1911, no. But for the money IMHO it’s probably one of the best Non-railed 1911 for the price range.
I need to do a flush soon. I've been running for two years without a thermostat because it won't open. I'll try your method this go round.
Hope you get it sorted out!
What about the condenser? Would the smaller condenser affect rad temp?
I bigger condenser potentially could block radiator airflow so yes it “could”.
Excellent! This is the best explanation of the order it needs to be done in that I have seen. Thank you for helping us.
Thank you! I’m glad it makes sense and helps
Pennock's Fiero Forum
what does it mean when there is condensation around the drier?
That’s supposed to happen, it is the same as a cold drink sweating outside. If it’s freezing over though there is an issue.
Thx for the video will be doing this in my 86 gt soon, i have to replace all hoses and the waterpump, looking forward to more fiero vids!
Thanks for watching! They are coming, work has just been crazy lately
@chiefrino6890 Gotta get the fat-fox tfi relocation kit. It’s a must have. The tfi overheats in the stock location attached to the dizzy
I also have an install video for that.
Congratulations. Nice 1911.
Thank you
Thanks for the video!
Thank you for watching
put a light so ppl can see
Will do
302 "base" as you say is not 13726548, thats the 302 HO (mustang) to 94 and the 351. The 302 "base" is 15426387. Its based on the cam grind.
The car in the video is 13726548.
Ok really dumb to pull them all at one time especially when you have to cut the new ones to fit. So easy to mess them up. Seen it many times.
Thanks for watching
@chiefrino6890 I guess he didn't here why you pulled all of them at the beginning of your video 🤔🤔🤔
@@epitt906🤷🏼♂️
I’ve never heard anyone say my dream and this car in the same sentence lmao 🤣 cool man
Thanks for watching!
I had no idea you had a Fiero GT.. Nice 👍
Thanks!
There are plenty of GM front wheel engines that can be swapped in there. 3800 Superchargered or the LQ1 can be swapped in there, and LS4 engine and 6 spd trans axles (from Buick GS) can be swapped in there. The LQ1 engine was downtuned to save the transaxles from the 270 hp. I would recommend the Fiero forum.
Yea I’ve swapped multiple fieros over the years. I’m still undecided on the route I want to take with it.
