Great video, but I must admit I just like the new version
I love your video Max. I got mine in 2000. Still runs like a champ! I’m still in love with this time piece, and out of all my watches, this one gets the most wrist time. I’ll never sell it, and will eventually give it to one of my boys! It’s a timeless piece, and Nobody beats the pierce Brosnan- James Bond! Right? Great vid😃😃👍👍✌️
Hey man, thank you so much for checking my video out. I don't really make a ton of stuff anymore unfortunately. But this comment made my day. While I don't make videos, I still love my watches, the collection has changed a lot in the last few years but my 2531.80 will never leave. I love that you're going to share the hobby with your sons. That brought a tear to my eye. I wish you nothing but the best and I hope you wear your Seamaster in good health. May many fond memories be attached to yours, I know they are to mine.
@@ttmhog15 your welcome, I hope you Enjoy your classic time pieces, and thank you for responding. Cheers, Matt
My favorite watch as well. I have the Quartz version I've bought in 1999. Still going strong. The more I use it, the nicer it looks, will all its scratches and wear. The most comfortable bracelet I've ever worn. I really disagree with you on that point.
I'm the same, have tbe quartz and love it. The bezel is "ghosting" now and it is sometimes a milky blue but sometimes in some light it's original dark blue. Agree totally on the bracelet - IMO one of the best ever made and by far the most comfortable
I bought mine in 1998 and has been with me since. Still keeping good time even though never been serviced. Love it very much. Bond watch indeed. Prince William got one too given by Princess Diana and he wear it ever since.
Great video. I just bought one for myself!
So the day wheel on seiko 7s26 movement is compatible with the nh36 movement can you confirm?? Thank you
Very nice review. This is one of my favorite Nomos models. Very beautiful, discreet and high quality watch. I love the elegant, slim shape of the lugs that follow the curve of the wrist and are as long as needed. I own the metro gangreserve, and this model with the Lambda is my next target.
I stand corrected, but the 1953 Smiths Deluxe A408 sumitted with Hillary according to him many years later. I read that he left the explorer at one of the camps during accent or Tenzing wore it...
This video DOES NOT show new crown & stem trimming which leads people to think you don't need to replace crown & trim the stem.
It doesn't show it because I didn't do it. I bought a crown that was already cut for the watch. Which is definitely an option that people have. But thanks for the comment I guess.
@@ttmhog15 you mean u bought a STEM or crown ?
@@bernardtan1 Both
❤❤❤ very nice 👍🏻
I just got mine few days ago.....beats them all!
hello, do you happen to know where to buy the nh36 movement?
Did the same crown from the old movement work ?
Really enjoyed your video! Thanks for posting, I'll probably try this now. I have been hesitant. Can you post links to tools used here? Crystal times for movement? Pre-sized stem? TIA
I’ve noticed a lot of enthusiasts have a G-Shock, SKX and a Speedmaster. I guess we all love icon, tool watches.
Nice 👍 but unfortunately that is no longer an original SKX007 watch……
Good job you told him that. He probably wouldn't have known otherwise.
My favorite Nomos color and all. Wish it was hand-wind but other than that I can't get past the price.
In fairness to the quartz goldeneye SMP 300, it had a laser that cut through the floor of a train. It's reasonable that its not fully mechanical :p
Are those magnums ?
Also I didn’t swap rings and it fit perfect
Y’all know we can get an nh36 a that has crown at 4-ish position and requires no date wheel swaps?
Just use 18mm straps, you can always go up 1mm, you'll never notice the difference.
💙
I think James Bond wore the quartz model.
Still have this watch? Interested in selling it? ;)
Great review… However there are 6 versions of this Explorer. In 1989/1990 while the Blackout was in production there was a very limited 6 month to 1 year production run of the 14270 tritium dial. This Explorer had a holes case and flat clasp. Which is the rarest. So we have… 1) The Blackout holes case flat clasp hollow end links Cal 3000 2) Tritium dial holes case flat clasp hollow end links Cal 3000 3) Tritium dial no holes case stamped clasp hollow end links Cal 3000 4) Swiss only Luminova dial no holes case stamped clasp hollow end links Cal 3000 5) Super Luminova dial stamped clasp hollow end links Cal 3130 6) Super Luminova dial stamped clasp solid end links Rolex Rolex Rolex engraved rehaute Cal 3130
How do you think this compares to the 2254.50? I’m torn between the 2531.80 and 2254.50. I love the sword hands and more “modern” bracelet of the 2254.50. But the 2531.80 has that cool vintage vibe.
Did you use the stock Seiko 7S26 crown and stem and did they fit correctly on the NH36 movement without any adjustments? From other videos I have seen they used the NH36 crown and stem which had to be shortened.
I personally prefer the new version of this watch
Why do you think you need tunes with a drum beat in the background, very distracting, let me know when they're removed and I'll come back
Duh,? No.
It's a dress watch. 3atm is more than enough for work, on a hot date, to a family gathering. Wear a different watch to your beach vacation
Cool take.
you made it look easy, I still cannot fit the second hand, Grrr. I did not think you could wind up with this swap?
The way the seconds hand patinas into an off shade of white really compliments the rest of the look, to be honest I think it should have came that way new.
I 100% agree with you. I think the serendipity is incredible
How can there be scratches in the AR coating on the inside?? (mine has one too)
Hello, do you think there will be a date alignment problem with my skx023? if I don't change the days?
Wish I had kept mine..
Molequin has quite a number of 17mm straps.
Or just get 18mm straps, they fit just fine.
Hi, thanks for the excellent video. I needed to replace my stem after the jeweler broke the crown off my stem while replacing the battery. Obviously, she said it was missing when I brought it in. So, I ordered a new stem and crown from Esslinger and fit the stem to my watch per the instructional video by Darak Watches. I carefully inserted the stem as shown in the video and everything went together fine, but the date will not change when I pull the stem out to the first stop and rotate, but it will change as the hands pass the midnight hour. Pulling the stem out to the second stop works fine to set the time. Can you offer any suggestions as to what I might have done wrong? Thanks in advance for any help. Movement: Seiko 7N42C
Unfortunately I have no idea, I'm not much of a watchmaker, just a hobbyist. Best of luck though
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'm thinking my best bet will be to order a new movement. After watching your video, I think I've gained enough confidence to give it a try.
The watch is a Seiko with a 7N42 movement which is battery powered. I believe I already tried the stem without the case but it's been so long I can't really remember. Maybe I'll give it a try again. I've also been tempted to buy a new movement which could be had for less than $20 the last time I looked, but that would be a real chore. I know I should just give up but the watch has special meaning to me. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I used to change watch batteries as part of my work, you would not belive the state of some watches brought in. Hands off and hour markers rolling about behind the glass, no glass (yes really), bent winders and winders dropping out. Every watch had to be inspected and faults pointed out to the customer before they went to the watch bench.
I love that faded bezel!! I don’t like that some people replace it in service
Love mine with the ghost bezel!
Just bought this as my birth year watch! Wondering if you still own this? I’ve bought and got it service but decided not to polish at all
Congrats dude! Rocking mine right now
Great Video Max. I have a ‘Swiss’ only dial as well to mark the birth of my daughter in 98 . Just a point of note re the transition into the 114270 it’s not just the change to solid end links, but also an upgraded movement from cal 3000 to 3130 . I hope you still love your acquisition 👌
I got a Speedmaster Professional 42mm that I really love! But the next and last watch I want to buy is the 14270 for sure, hope one day... 🙏
I love my 14270 from 96. Do you still own this one ?
You betcha!
What year is this omega?
Go to 20 seconds in. I say it around 25 seconds
It’s 1993
Great watch and am sure you’ll have many years (if not a lifetime) of enjoyment. Only question: you say you like a slower beat and stuttering second hand? Rolex buyers generally go the opposite wanting a 28800 with smooth second hand.
Yup. I much prefer a slower beat rate. It's just something I had to learn to live with when buying neovintage rolexes. My other option is a 1016 but I do not have that kind of money
Thank you for a wonderfully detailed review. This watch looks to be a gem.
Nice review only AR coating on inside
So the movement is ETA not Omega ??
Omega movement based on an ETA caliber. Technically not Omega
@@ttmhog15 thanks
I believe there is no coating on the outside of the crystal so the scratches wouldn't be in the coating.
Hold on, if you sweat in it you have a paper weight? really? is 3 ATM that vunerable to moisture?I want this watch but this scares the hell out of me!!
It was a joke
