2.20 Skewb PR Average (WR29 ER15 NR2) | Portugalete Warm Up 2024

It’s PR I guess. Finally NR2 but it feels like a chance wasted at ER. First solve should have been a 1.6, solve 3 I ran out of time onelooking the better solution and had to go back to the L5C and solve 4 is pretty bad. Happy to finally get a shot at ER though.
Hopefully this average doesn’t last long because it’s still very easy to beat. Next stop, Euros.

Pretty happy with this average. Solve 1 was a bit locky, solve 2 I found the EG layer quite late so I hesitated but besides that I’m really happy to have used EG-2 on some otherwise fairly normal scrambles. Also won the round by over half a second which I did not expect. Was 0.01 away from PR but I beat it later on so I don’t care.

Honestly can’t express how happy I am with this. I really wanted to be the first person in Spain to break the sub-3 barrier and I managed to do it. You can see how my eyes light up with excitement when I saw it was a 2 as well as my eagerness saying “gira gira gira”😅 Thank you to everyone for the support I received in this comp. 2.13, 2.23, (4.79), (1.88), 2.72 = 2.36 Yeah this hurts. 1st solve should have been 1.7, onelooked 3 wrong and then solve 5 had probably the NS case I hate the most. Best average this year and still really trash.

2.33 2.50 4.00 (4.74) (1.81) Bottlejob FC back again. Not going to lie, this one hurt a lot. Solve 2 was 3 moves into a decent EG-2 and it was heading for a 1.5x and then I locked up massively. Solve 3 was also a really simple solution and I decided to be stupid. This was definitely my best chance at sub-2 and I completely blew it and didn’t even come away with PR. Hopefully something good soon...

Finally broke NR single for the first time since 2022! First NR with 7 Simul after switching back in August. It took a long time but finally I got something with it. This is still extremely beatable, the scramble, despite being 6 simul, was not even that good as it had very long moves so hopefully I can take advantage of an even better scramble soon!

Really nice case but confidence is still not quite there. Still happy I had the nerve to do EG-2 officially. 2nd best time on the scramble was a 3.01 so it seems like it was the best solution😁

Average is nothing special but still cool to use a couple of EG-2 algs (solves 3 and 5). Solve 3 had something really good with NS but not too mad as right now the focus has to be on getting used to these new algs. Hopefully I can get something decent officially soon! 2.68 2.49 (4.01) 2.92 (2.34) Not the result I wanted but very happy with my performance in the final. A few weeks ago getting a 2.7 average in Nationals finals seemed like a pipe dream yet I managed to pull this off. Gives me hope that I can pull off something cool in 2024 and hopefully finally be Skewb National Champ!

5.02, 4.30, (5.13), 4.38, (4.30) = 4.57 Done in 1st Round of Spanish Championship 2023. First round I haven’t had to flip to check the back. Pretty happy considering it’s Nationals so added pressure. Unfortunately missed a C-U skip on the 4th but oh well it wasn’t a terrible time.

4.40, 4.00, (3.92), (DNF (4.15)), 4.61 = 4.34 Quite sad but also fills me with confidence. I panicked on solve 4 with my memo because I made a mistake and had to flip and unfortunately I hadn’t put the cross to 12 on the back. Considering it’s only been 3 months, it’s not bad that I’m already getting close to NR with a new method. As Arsenal fans like to say, trust the process :)

Great job! Also I’m your 200th sub Why do you think so many people are moving to EG2 in Skewb now? Is it a more available alg sheet or something?
Hey man I appreciate it! Interesting question on EG-2, I think obviously the fact there’s a public spreadsheet has encouraged more people to take it on. I think it’s taken time to catch on because it’s a new concept and some of the algs have really odd fingertricks which take time to get used to so not everyone was 100% convinced it was worth it. I was willing to take the risk of learning 136 algs and I feel like it will pay off but it’s definitely something that will take time to get used to properly.
