Replace Your Nose-Bobb
Просмотров 8217 месяцев назад
De-solder and remove an old leaky hose bibb. De-soldering requires some patience because it requires a lot of heat to melt the existing solder. More often than not, the excess water will keep the copper cool enough to prevent the solder from melting. In this video, we use a shop vac to remove any excess water and a torch to heat the pipe which allows the solder to melt for easy removal from the...

Replacing a Grundfos Recirculating Pump
Comes in black now. Interesting. I have a 1.0 and love it in white. Doctors always recommend a white bowl for "health" reasons. Probably not necessary to elaborate on that.
@@kennixox262 Yes, it comes in both black and white. The Numi 2.0 has a better integrated wall mounted Bluetooth remote that runs on batteries which makes it easy for the home owner.
@@redhorseplumbing Very nice. Mine as you may know is (remote) hard wired and works very well. Love the black but from a "doctor's perspective" they suggest that a white bowl in order to be able to better "see" things down there should a health concern arise or just ensure that things look "normal". A black bowl, it is more difficult to examine whatever needs to be checked. Much like a cooking vessel, a stainless steel or a white or off white enamel pan, pot, to see how the food is browning/cooking etc. Love my Numi and it was installed back in 2016 during a gut job remodel. I understand there there is a wall mounted version and will have that in the next house. Everyone should have a "robot" toilet.
@@redhorseplumbing BTW, we had a rep from Kholer who supervised the rough in, water valve and wall plug, and the final installation as it was a relatively new product at the time. No real gap between the unit and the wall. Using it at first was a little strange as it was like sitting on a square box.
what is the yellow plastic line called m thta is what I want to use vs steel piping thanks
Polyethylene Pipe
Need to take off plastic bib for proper flow and leak protection Those things crack off
Nice job. FYI, they have Grundfos recircurt pumps with built in check valves and unions with shut offs to isolate the pump.
Or you can just look at the footage numbers at each end of the pipe ,most gas line has footage numbers on it
More than one way to skin a cat. Not all PE pipe have those markings. And if you have more than a couple spirals, counting tick marks or numbers could be cumbersome. But good call
pi times diameter.
Yup, simple
What specific tables are ok with natural gas or gas line?
Somewhere warm 😅, last place I had was 130lbs.
Yup, that’s HIGH
To the HORSE!
To the HORSE!
I'm in Chandler AZ and looking to do the same. Question: Can an interior gas source be tee-ed and then passed through an exterior wall? My kitchen stove is 25 feet from where I want my bbq, but it would probably be impossible to run a line from the meter due to all of the hardscape in the way.
You need to consider a few things; the total BTUs consumed, the total length of pipe from the meter to the point of use and the material of pipe. This gives you the required size. Also, unions are not permitted inside a wall. I would suggest a licensed and reliable plumber visit your home.
Why those gal. fittings on the black iron gas line? That’s against code! Hello?
It’s not against code. If anything, its a WIN for the customer. They benefit from higher quality materials that wont rust as fast. Please reference the specific code to your proposition. I'd like to hear what you find.
Where's your regulator???
There are two regulators serving the fire pit - the first is the main house gas regulator (as seen at the beginning of the video), the other is at the fire pit, below the sand and glass, included with the burner assembly. As you're already familiar, regulators are packaged from the manufacturer as part of the burner assembly. Notice the key for the valve?
@@redhorseplumbing that's just a ball valve, you don't need another one?
@@redhorseplumbing also without a thermocouple what shuts off the gas when it goes out?
You are correct sir, that key operates a ball valve. Short answer - there is a regulator. Please read the comment above as I already addressed this. The regulator is provided by the manufacturer with the burner and has been installed. It’s below the sand and glass - which is why it can’t be seen in the video.
Should have used tee and plug instead of elbow at the house.
Great comment, however, it passed city inspection. I suppose a tee/plug would also be correct. Please comment where in the IFGC that it requires a tee/elbow in lieu of a elbow? I'd love to learn more about your solution.
@@redhorseplumbing Not illegal. But the gas company likes to use that plug for their own purpose. Told to me by a meter setter after i did one like you did! He did not make me change it though. For future reference.
@@gusty60 If you look closely, there’s a tee with plug after the elbow.
HI...my home only connect the copper line to the pressure relief valve but do not have one for the bottom. Can i connect a tee to this line and connect to a pan? who could do this kind of work for me?
Typically, the T&P drain and the pan drain line are installed separately and ideally should terminate outdoors to prevent water damage inside. A licensed plumber is always best.
My water heater doesn't have a pan, the room it's in has a drain in the center so a pan is pointless.
Check with your local codes. Typically, the code requires a pan or approved material (galvanized sheeting) to prevent damage to drywall or studs in the event of a failure. Your drain may be sufficient to prevent water damage to nearby drywall.
Great video, B!
Thanks! Appreciate the feedback!
Very good video, I have a question,I am going to do a fire pit and a BBQ grill on my backyard and my question is, can the gas and electricity lines go together so as not to dig another ditch? And I will need two gas lines if I am going to make a fire pit and a BBQ grill or just need one gas pipe ? the fire fit and the BBQ will be separated from each other 25 feet
A minimum of 24 inches between gas and electrical may be required if within the same trench. Check with your local jurisdiction for codes and guidance.
Super helpful video. I'm about to try and install my own water softener system and I'll need to cut into the copper water line loop and then install some fittings on there I think, so I can attach lines going to the softener. Thanks for your help!
Thank you for watching.
What size gas line would you use for a bbq that is 50 feet away and a fire pit next to it but then three pillars with fire another 20-30 feet away at the farthest pillar
Factors to consider; existing gas pressure after the regulator, pressure drop, material of pipe you plan to install (metallic pipe, semirigid copper corrugated stainless steel PE pipe), the length of pipe for each appliance and the BTU rating of each appliance on the same gas pipe, including your BBQ. For a complete answer, reference a gas code book (i.e., IFGC) and check with your local jurisdiction for codes and guidance.

Why not cap it at the ball valve?
Great question! They have a couple outdoor fire pits still on the line.
Use scotch bright instead of Emory cloth to clean the pipe. Much quicker and works great. Good gob brother.
I’ve use both but the emery cloth was in my solder kit. Guess I’m just used to the emery cloth. Thanks dude!
