Disco Elysium the Final Cut: Finally; the Body! {64}
Welcome back everyone to my blind Let's Play of Disco Elysium the Final Cut!
It's taken an extremely long time; longer than I even care to admit. However, we've finally got the body down from the tree. Now we can learn more about the victim; understand the state of his corpse and see what we can compare from this and what we've learned.

Welcome back everyone to my blind Let's Play of Disco Elysium the Final Cut! It's finally that time. We're going to address the big elephant in the room; the poor unfortunate soul still hanging on a tree. My friend definitely wasn't kidding when he said it'll be a good while before I can take down the body. At least it'll work double-time in also helping us win Cuno's trust. #marcuswolfe #disco...

    JAMAIS VU was the thought thay was supposed to help you get for a +20 bonus to the white check to ask Joice about the world. Since you rolled for it normally, you don't need JAMAIS VU anymore, as its most significant bonus is to give you that bonus and redirect you to Joice again. The question about the world and the pale is, metanarratively speaking, the most important thing for the players to discover in the opinion of the developers. What do you think of that?

    • @MarcusWolfe
      @MarcusWolfe Месяц назад

      I can see the developers seeing it as a very important detail for world-building. I mean, just learning of it does help kind of explain why the world seems to have weak technological advancements in some aspects. Even though it's a part of the game's past, a computer that uses tape to read and record information? But I really do love the world-building that's in this game. My current build of an encyclopedic Harry definitely works well for me. I don't remember the last time I've learned so much meta-information about a game. I get some don't like it; my best friend doesn't. But I definitely love it!

    Though the world resembles parts of our own, and the continents are similar to areas of our globe, it isn't 1:1. Insulinde/Revachol aren't really Europe, probably more like America? Revachol is a melting pot and only discovered later in the history of this world. America obviously isn't a perfect comparison, but that's what I mean by it not being completely like our own Earth.

    Moralism doesn't mean the same thing in real life and Disco Elysium. Moralism is in Disco Elysium is real life Centrism. Ultraliberals in this game also go by different names in this universe, in real life being neoliberals and libertarians.

  • @dodo.mp4
    @dodo.mp4 2 месяца назад

    I believe the boardwalk refers to that area where you talked to that guy about a computer, you know the one that had his son with him. I'm pretty sure in an earlier episode one of your skills told you to check something over there again as well.... ALSO! I'm not sure if you're intentionally leaving it for another time, but when you looked over your quests you overlooked the Ruby one! If you can remember, your shivers skill told you she's somewhere in the area (the area being like out of Martinaise proper).

  • @chiisaiaoiryu
    @chiisaiaoiryu 2 месяца назад

    It's so interesting how some skill checks you can pass so early simply by being lucky. Like with the rich guy in the cargo container; I remember you trying it some time ago. And now he has a skill check that has insanely high pass bar? Either you spoke to him too early, or that check is just based on what skill you chose to level up. Either way, definitely a lot of fun watching you play! Can't wait to see more of your playthrough!

    • @MarcusWolfe
      @MarcusWolfe Месяц назад

      Yeah, it's clear you can never 100% all skill checks. At least, not without what I assume to be some basic save-scumming. But that'd defeat the purpose of playing a game like this. And yeah, it's definitely a lot of fun to play. A bit longer than I'd assume it'd be, but still an immersive experience with lots of meta-information about the world.

    I legit forgot there was a religious organization in the game where the highest official is called "The Innocence". Confused me for a bit when I saw the video title; like what is really all that innocent in this game? But yeah, I would suppose Dolores Dei would equate to a Pope. Except she clearly has much more influence and can make progressive actions move at the drop of a hat. Kind of scary how the world quite literally bends a knee to her.

    It's scenes like this that makes me wonder just what level of technology the world of Disco Elysium is at currently. Granted Trant is talking about a time before the war; it's interesting how there's a concept of a computer running on tape. Your idea makes sense; the tape being a "flash drive" and the device to read and execute commands the "computer". It's why I really like this game! Great world-building, and you really feel like you're slowly becoming a part of the world itself! And the great part is you can know as much or as little of the world as you like by simply choosing whether or not to talk to people. It's great!

  • @dodo.mp4

    Technology is a little different in Disco Elysium to real life, I don't know too much about it, but I don't think they really have that advanced computers so that's why this film thing is rather impressive to this guy.

    You really should get some more thoughts they open up more dialogue options, stat boosts, some of them even have unique quests to shape your character! There’s no real point in hoarding all those points because you’re missing out on content of the game, and you can’t really get stuck in the game. You may have forgotten, but that place where you ate salami with that guy should be repaired by day 3 I believe, you can see it on your map!

    Yay another video!! Moralism in this game is the equivalent of the ideology of the West in the real world (which the game is quite critical of). The moralintern is what i think you call a portmanteau (moralist international), and im pretty sure its inspired by the USSR's Comintern (Communist International), but just like aesthetically opposite. I think the simplest way to describe it and the coalition is like if nato/EU and the UN combined into one organisation

    I like how they gave a more personalized version of history through these two older men. What better way to learn than through those who lived through history? Even if some of it is biased based on the speaker's POV; it's still pretty cool.

There are other ideas for what the Union’s motivations are though, it’s up to a lot of personal interpretation in the game It’s less Marxist than other Communist ideas.

      I can definitely see and hear a lot of the persuasive rhetoric being used to sway others to the dock-workers' cause. How good would it be to become a "member of the board" and sway company politics in the workers' favor? Though I am admittedly curious as to what Evrart Claire's motivation in all of this is. It definitely is a stark difference between gaming graphics of the early 2000s compared to now. Less crisp using PS1 (technically PS2 for me) hardware but still a marvel for its time. Definitely the golden era for 3D gaming. Also, I might play Radical Dreamers. I'm not overly sure yet; I'd have to buy the full Chrono Cross remake just to access that one game. • @MarcusWolfe
      @MarcusWolfe 5 месяцев назад

      Yeah, I realized that. My gripe was that everything on the thought tree required a skill point. Need to forget? Use a point. Need to unlock more thought slots? Use a point. It's all tied to the points, and I'm not a fan of that. Especially when there are skills that would require points to level up, too. If they'd made it that you'd have to spend time re-learning forgotten thoughts; I feel that would've made more sense. Maybe if I get curious enough, I'll randomly choose a thought to see what it does. But right now, I'm not feeling it's worth it.

    I think "La Puta Madre" roughly translates to "The Fudging Mother", to put it in more friendly terms. Most likely just the game's way of saying who the big person in the cartel is. I agree, though, it's odd they used a feminine noun instead of the masculine. And "camionnuer" is a truck driver; probably more towards "lorry" since that's what the game refers them as.

      I'll keep that in mind. Though considering there's been many things that have hurt me and left me in a dying state at some capacity; my cautionary way is just ever so slightly warranted. Perhaps it's a sign I should invest some level points in physical and mental health. Gosh knows I'm going through my mental meds like they're candy.

    Haven't finished your video but when you're asking about what skill, it is empathy. You have +1 from your base (1 in psyche) and you have +1 from leveling it up (learned skill). As there is only one diamond within empathy (and the other psyche skills); your learning cap in those is quite low, meaning the maxed out level is at 2. It can be increased through certain items, drugs, and through internalizing new thoughts in the thought cabinet. Hope this made sense, english isnt my first language. also ive been watching this whole series, and im not gonna tell you how to play your own game, but i would recommend maybe making the episodes a bit longer? its simply at this pace it will take quite a while to finish this series, and i dont want you to get burned out of this game, cus id really like to see you finish it! Anyway have a nice day

      Thanks for the comment and suggestion! It definitely makes sense. Maybe they should have worded it slightly better then; I saw "skill" and thought an actual ability was unlocked. Yeah, my friend did mention that there are certain things that can raise base stats either temporarily or permanently. Doesn't seem too much of a drag yet, but I can already see some low stats becoming a pain later on down the line. And no problem; I was thinking of making things a bit longer. I mean, the next video is unintentionally long because I got so sidetracked by one single item. If the game makes it easy to be distracted by one thing; my videos will definitely need to be a bit longer. Thanks again for the comment and suggestions!

    Daniella is the most memorable of the villains.

      She definitely is. I can play this game again a few years down the line; she will always be my favorite villain in this game. The VA for her really does a wonderful job!
