    Years ago I was hit on the side of he knee. It was a high level shooter that I practiced with often. I was wearing the most basic bauer knee guards at the time. They were basically fabric lol. Comfort from the butterfly was more important at the time and I felt like I was protected enough. Little did I realize, I was completely wrong. My buddy took a ripper of a shot below the goal line in a perfectly placed hole at my knee. I didn't know I was leaving that spot but he sure as hell did! I left the locker room not able to pick up my bag and needed help out to the parking lol. About 2 months later i returned to the ice on a stick time. Had to hit them up for bit. I will always use a pro knee guards to this day.

    Would you recommend this for someone who just broke their mark 2f and wants something more flexible?

    • @ChikenMastr
      @ChikenMastr 2 месяца назад

      I would say yes. It’s stiff to start, but really softens up once it gets going and keeps its shape a lot better than the 2F.

  • @Flygoalieman
    @Flygoalieman 2 месяца назад

    looking for some review of the sidewall stiffness. I assume it meets Bauers standards, but I want to be sure before I purchase. like if you try to bend it would you say it's hard or soft?

    • @ChikenMastr
      @ChikenMastr 2 месяца назад

      The sidewall of the blocker is a thin piece, so over time it has started to flex in, especially closer to the wrist. For how thin it is, it’s got some stiffness to it. There’s a lot of space between the sidewall and the thumb and wrist areas, so that’s where it’s flexing and “falling in”

    • @Flygoalieman

      @ cool I might get the Mach or this. I still have the Reebok larceny and the 6 hole coverage was great and it’s hard to find a replacement tbh

    Thanks for the review, pretty helpful. How do you find the slide of these pads? I've heard some bad things about that side of the pad but otherwise they seem good.

    • @ChikenMastr
      @ChikenMastr 2 месяца назад

      I personally have really enjoyed the slide of these pads, but it is pretty generic for other pads within a similar price range, so to some that's just not good enough. One of the factors that will make a noticeable difference is how stiff the pad is on the part that goes on the ice. I have gotten stuck mid-slide, but I've also had that happen in my Bauer X5 Pro's, so I can't say if it's a problem with either set of pads or if it's just the ice. Glad you liked the review!

    Hi, I am getting a faceoff head for this next up and coming season, ive been usng my teamates mark 2f and I love it but there are a few cons. I don't like the clamp I feel like i dont have much control of the ball. Second is I don't really like how it sorta fights back against you. Lastly is the durabaility and warp ristance ,that 2f hasn't broken yet but I heard from a lot of other people that 2fs break after a season or 2 and thats why i was kinda leaning towards the weapon x before this came out becasue ive heard it lasted people almost there whole HS career and still have a amazing face shape and isnt really warped but the one thing about the weapon x im worried about is the weight. I am in my sophmore year of HS and want it to last till I graduate pls lmk if this head is a good fit.

    • @ChikenMastr
      @ChikenMastr 3 месяца назад

      My biggest issue with the Mark 2F has always been it's warping and durability. I would say that the Weapon X is a very good option for durability and shape retention, but it is 1. heavy, and 2. thicc. I wasn't as interested in how stiff it is and how much work is needed to make it softer. I have found the both the Burn FO Recovery and Burn FOrmula have proven to be very durable. My Recovery is well over a year old and has seen regular use and the FOrmula is looking like it will continue down that path. The FOrmula is pretty soft once worked and I'd say the flex will feel somewhat similar to the 2F in both shape and how much power is needed (while adding the option for some faceflex as well). The most important thing will be maintenance (ie. softball, occasional flexing back to shape). in order to keep this head rolling and keeping it consistent. Hope that helps!

    Can you tell me the width of these pads? Most Intermediate pads are 10.5 inches wide but I heard True are thinner. Have you measured and can you confirm? I am thinking of buying a set, coming from senior bauers. I don't want to lose more than .5 inch in width. Thanks!

    • @ChikenMastr
      @ChikenMastr 4 месяца назад

      They are in fact narrower! At the knee, the intermediate True Catalyst 7x3 pads are 10 inches across the face. I went ahead and compared these to my intermediate-sized Bauer X5 Pro pads and those are also 10 inches across at the knee!! Hope this helps!

    Thanks for the video! I have the older version of the bauer knee pads before the gsx that's all 1 solid piece without the hinge. I always look at the bulkyness of the pro pads and can't bring myself to like them. Way to bulky and seems like to much pad going on for the 1/2 shots a season to the knee I've ever taken

    Is there any rule agaisnt just using a stick "backwards" (back of the curve facing out) so that when playing the puck the curve is more natural? Hopefully that made sense. Wasn't really sure how else to describe it😅😅

    • @ChikenMastr
      @ChikenMastr 8 месяцев назад

      That’s an interesting question. I don’t exactly know for sure, but I will say that having the stick blade facing the correct way helps with redirecting shots that are low on the ice. I have seen some people put the butt end of the stick in the T of their glove with the blade backwards to achieve a familiar feeling when playing the puck. I don’t think there’s an official ruling, but using the stick as intended has more benefits, but if you really think it’ll help then I can’t stop ya lol Hope that helps!

    • @brandon_crow1291
      @brandon_crow1291 8 месяцев назад

      @@ChikenMastr oh ya no I'm sure using it the correct way is way better. I just remember when I was playing (trying to get back into it, just need the gloves and I'm solid😁) thinking "why don't I just use a left handed goalie stick so I can actually play the puck well?" 😂. Never did but its always been in the back of my mind. If there's not an actual rule and I can find a used stick for cheap enough I might give it a shot when I'm back out on the ice. Kinda experiment and weigh out the pros and cons. If nothing just for the fun of it.

  • @bodymaker16
    @bodymaker16 8 месяцев назад

    the vest looks kinda bulky, can you touch your ear? I wear a head scarf to help with the sweat (i sweat a lot and the padding in the mask is not enough) and everytime i need to adjust it, its a big trouble with the bulkyness of vapor x2.9 that I have. One.7 allowed for a lot move mobility. But I changed cause the puck cought my elbow a few times in a nasty way that took me out of the game for weeks. Still...the bulky X2.9 is good for protection, but the mobility is a nightmare.

    • @ChikenMastr
      @ChikenMastr 8 месяцев назад

      I guess I haven’t really tried to touch my head much with these. I’d agree that mine are on the bulkier side. Battle as old as time between more mobility and less protection vs more protection and less mobility.

    I’m currently a 14 year old in 8th grade as a foso and i my parents won’t buy me a new head because they don’t think I will make jv next year. I have 2 things I want to ask. One is I’m looking at a weapon x and you talked about it saying it was good so I want to get it. And 2 do you still use all the heads you have?

    • @ChikenMastr
      @ChikenMastr 9 месяцев назад

      First thing: have some confidence in yourself and your craft. Push yourself and I know you can get there! I’d say make a bet with them. Make JV and they owe you a head! I do like the Weapon X. It’s a tough, consistent head. If you like stiffer head then I’d say it’s perfect. I would also check out the natural version of you want a softer head built with the same features. For your other question: I regularly use the Burn FOs and Duel 3. Some of the heads in the video have broken (weapon X and Duel). I’ve gone through a lot of heads trying to find the perfect one for me. Some just aren’t for me as much as others, but I keep them around every once in a while.
