Brunel desperately needs a goods shed, or at least a goods platform, for the benefit of the town's commerce. On my layout, the foundry's LNER Y4 0-4-0T shunter (a 1960's/1970's Welso Brimtoy clockwork Y4 body on a Lima American Porter 0-4-0T chassis) has been returned from the workshops following repairs to the brakes & throttle controls (the 40 year old Hornby Zero One DCC loco module had internally locked itself into inertia mode 4 = big, heavy loco and so was replaced). Some kind of a international justice league in action - your impersionation of different characters was fun to watch. Fine parody of the modern times. Long life honesty, in the state of Brunel and everywhere!

Maybe the State of Brunel has been formed by a multinational population who are trying to create the ideal society, the implementation of utopia... who knows, we might all be inhabitants of Brunel in a corner of our minds. Brilliant! Chapeau (all of them) bas! Glad to see Montalbano, Militaru and all the guys in action, but hearing that Clouseau is also involved gave me a special sort of inner peace and confidence. The leit-motif of hiding money in the toilet water tank is a horrendous fact, which shows us how far the knavishness of these counselors can go! Luckily the police forces - special thanks to the helicopter force (a stick in the fan?) - intervene and arrested this nightmarish gang... Chapeau bas once again, thanks for a big fun and a ludic feast, Patrick!

@@Cristake1974Thank you! I really enjoyed making this one. Hiding money in the toilet is a classic, just like block administrator Bosoy in Bulgakov's masterpiece "Master and Margareta": he accepted a bribe in roubles, hid it in the toilet ventilation...but when the NKVD showed up the roubles had turned into dollars...a toilet with a money changing service included... I made the helicopter effect by playing a 5 minute helicopter sound video on my computer and wobbling my phone. The helicopter is a Mil Mi8 of course. I guess you recognise Major General Militaru's helmet.

That's a great tip. I have a Jouef/Playcraft North British shunter with brass wheels - I'll give that a try. This shunter has a clear plastic motor - I call it a 'rattle can' as it sounds like an aerosol paint can being shaken while it zooms around the layout!

I have a few Playcraft North British 0-4-0 diesel shunters, an early one with both axles driven, one converted to Hornby Zero One 1st generation DCC & Jouef Triang coupling conversion kit and one that has a replacement Keyser motor, Romford wheels & worm gears plus an inside frame chassis. They do require constant wheel cleaning. Adding a lot of weight improves track power pick up, as they are too light.

Time for some Peco Track Rubber action!! Traction tyres are the numero uno culprit for creating a layer of muck on rails. Or, if you had an old Jouef / Playcraft 708 tank loco, with the sausage motor and brass wheels, you could run that over the track a few times because the brass wheels act like magnets for track dirt & oxidation. My first electric loco was one of these and it was soon discovered that running it around a layout moved track dirt onto its wheels, which were easier to clean off. I have quite a few Jouef / Playcraft 708 tank locos, with sausage motors & brass wheels, solely for track cleaning purposes. One is still in its original 1960's box.

    • @patricksmodels

The old Jouef tank loco with brass wheels sound better fun than the track rubber! Wait a minute! My scratch-built railcar has a Jouef chassis with brass wheels! I'll put it to work. I usually clean my track with cotton buds and lighter fluid. Besides traction tyres I've noticed that rolling stock with plastic wheels also contributes to leaving muck on the track. Thanks for the tip!

I like a lot the corner roadway, both in the filming point and in the opposite corner. They combine in harmony with the rest of the layout, somehow like the road that goes parallel with the train track for a good distance. How will you solve the problem of the Lima street light poles (bloody Poles again), if the layout would be hosted behind the door? As long as they will be wired, it would be quite hard to remove them (them setting up again and so on). Hard, but not impossible (I am thinking for example of using some small magnets to set them up and easy remove, and some jacks to wire/unwire). Nice evening, thanks for the video!

    • @patricksmodels

I've been raking through my brain on how to fit those lamps and keep them out of harm's way when the layout is standing behind the door. Connecting them every time might become slightly annoying, with consequent bad language in Italian, English and even Romanian. The magnets might be a good solution, I had also thought of velcro. But I think magnets are a better idea. Mulțumesc! 👍😊
