so, and i mean this very diplomatically, the vocals here (and literally just the vocals) were produced with the current generation of software that descended from hatsune miku and other vocaloids. it is probably not what you think it is. here is a brief overview of how this generation of software expanded on vocaloid's basic premise. instead of just paying an artist to come in and record vocal samples, artists are paid for both their vocal samples and other vocal data that is then used to train an "AI" to control pitch. the final product we pay for is a combination of the original voice samples, but also that trained model that lets the final software generate "takes" of pitch data (inflection/vibrato) based on the word syllables you have manually entered into a MIDI scroll and how it thinks the original vocalist would tackle that phrase. it doesn't do anything else. i wrote the melodies and plugged in the words and adjusted the phonemes and stresses. and then the program generated a take of pitch data. it is not running on a gas guzzling cloud, there is no magic make nice music button, it is just a program in my computer that decides how the pitch of the notes should bend that was trained off of a specific vocalist's training data. that they were paid to provide. everyone is paid for this. if i can speak for other vocal synth & vocaloid fans briefly, i think we would all immediately abandon the software if it ever became obvious data was being stolen or used in ways the voice providers didn't consent to. you don't have to like it or think it sounds good! i just wanted to make sure you know what you're hating.

@@hpheisler actually pretty fair take. As long as said artists were paid in the end then there's no really big reason to hate/dislike this except simply having different tastes.

@@lucky4d725 it's a really serious conversation within the community and we've all got our eyes out for bad behavior. pretty recently a voice library (KAFU) was pulled late in development because the artist wasn't comfortable with the final product sounding so much like her real voice. the company complied with her wishes, and literally the entire community rallied supportively behind the decision to not release anything she didn't consent to.

​@@hpheisler tbh, more reasonable and respectful replies here than I anticipated so good on you keeping a cool. however, "vocaloid" as such, referring here to artists such as hatsune miku, is a synthesizer that synthesizes things from individual tones like synthesizers do. All Synthesizer V is is a neural network, they say they're different to it but most of everyone still refers to what it does as voice cloning, entirely different to what vocaloid is. That's my complaint/criticism. Not that it's guzzling up however much power (I can't prove that, nor will try), but rather that the original method of producing vocals with vocaloid requires far more effort than this does. considering you're knocking these out left and right while renowned vocaloid ...artists? utilizers? take way longer to release new music. Additionally, as you said at the end of the first reply, I'd never insult someone's creativity because that's not the point. it's the methods, this isn't vocaloid.
