Episode One: Why Rooftop Tents SUCK (probably not what you're thinking)
Just used mine for a two week hunt in Kansas. It was awesome! I see some worries about set up and velcro on the windows but I’ll say it performed great. I set it up in just a few minutes with ease. It withstood some insane Kansas winds and even a thunderstorm. No water got in and it was very solid for the winds. Being insulated made it nice to keep warm too. For me it was a great purchase.
After using this tent several times I'm confused why the side doors open top to bottom and not bottom to top. The door is falling over the ladder if you fold it outside the tent. The door is laying on the bedding and youre crawling on it and over it to enter if you fold it to the inside. If it's wet there's no convenient way to deal with it, if you want to avoid bugs getting in you have to zip it up fully. All of this could be avoided if the doors just had the hindge point at the top. Easier access, no worries about it blocking the ladder or being inside the tent on your bedding getting trampled over, being able to have it unzipped and still hanging closing the opening blocking bugs from getting in and not getting water inside the tent. Very curious why in the world the desing has the doors opening to the bottom as I can't see any benefit from this?
Fun times with friends and family I love it ! 🔥
was this discontinued? it disappeared from your webstore.
Good grief this looks like a bear to setup and tear down to me. No way I’m putting the floor in every single time I put this up and taking the floor out every single time. Y’all need to go back to the drawing board on this one.
Great conversations in this episode, love the transparency between Talon and Ben
Can the poles be stored inside the awning bag?
Nice chill podcast to listen to while trudging through some work. ✌️
such a good podcast, need a 2 hour one next
Wouldn't be talking about Rivian by chance haha
My new favorite podcast
Thanks for having me guys 🤘🏼 let’s do it again soon!
I’d pay money to see Ben get an earth roamer stuck!
Does it come with the floor attachment like the v1?
We decided against the floor in this version because we wanted people to be able to stake out the walls and use them as needed. Our Anywhere Camp Mat can be used if you need a floor for this.
@@gofsrI think the enclosed floor was an awesome idea because it protected against bugs and snakes and such from being able to sneak their way in as easily… I know a lot of us with kids use the bottom annex/room for their sleeping area. I think if you guys had the option for a floor on the V2 they’d sell!
I just got mine today! I don’t see a lot of videos of this so I’ll probably be the first when I get to Utah.
Would love to have this for the Odyssey V2 XL. Will you be releasing one for that tent as well?
We are considering it. Still working through design and what will make the most sense to tie in with the rainfly. Stay tuned!
Slick Design! Something similar for the Aspen v2? Maybe comes off the rear? Good work Guys!
Possibly! It's not as easy to create something with that angle of the Aspen but we are considering it.
Whats the max unsupported length allowed? I have a gladiator and I have to run a mid height rack so there will be over hang on the back of the truck
We always recommend no more than 30" from the bottom of the mounting rails.
Great product! For non-Evo RTT customers, this would an amazing and innovative 90 degree pull out awning + room product! A lock out awning, fold down legs, with the fabric to create an enclosed room, all self contained in one bag, and already lightweight under 25 lbs. Would love potentially see variants of this in the future!
Great suggestion!
Do you guys have an upgrade discount? I would love to trade up my Odyssey for the Evo so I can have this feature. Or do you make something like this for the Odyssey?
Our lowest prices of the year are happening now! You'd be better off selling your current tent and taking advantage of our prices this month. If you have any questions or need more info, you can reach out to customerservice@gofsr.com.
Is it compatible with the Evo 1?
Yes, the 55" model specifically.
i msged them and they said yes but only for the 55".
Awesome, that's what we have, wonder how it would hold up in our pnw rain and storms.
@@ourpnwadventures im sure itll be fine, i have the 49" but they said they might release that later. Stoked to have the ladder stay dry.
Does the ladder still attach and function if the Awn-X is installed but not deployed?
If you have Evo V2, you can utilize the rear door for this with the extra set of ladder brackets provided with the tent.
I was wondering the exact same thing, thanks!
@@gofsrso if I have 270 awning on one side and awn-x on the other, the awn-x will have to be deployed in order to be able to get into the tent, correct?
Great product and great video! I just bought the 270 walls. I’m debating on awn-x for privacy, inclement weather hang out spot, or the 270. I want them both. Haha.
You'll have a much larger footprint with the 270 & walls although no coverage in and out of your tent. All the choices!
Hopefully, the king 🤴 will have one
It's cool
Man I love this a lot! Definitely adds a lot more privacy with your own room. Looks really simple to install too. 🤙🏾
just curious, how many inches lifted is the Yota? and are those 33s?
You guys should use Reign System. They have a great ceramic waterless wash.
Ryan is a 💯 stand up guy!Hope all is well man.
Can't find this on your website. Is it discontinue?
Bug screens are useless if you don't install all the walls. I also wish the inside was silver or a lighter colour.
Can’t wait to buy one. Love the black out color
This was a great podcast. Thank you! These subjects were very helpful for myself and hopefully others. Keep it up!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. More to come!
Loving the podcast!!!!
Thank you!!! 🙏
Can we get a detailed video of the V2 and all of its features?
Anyone here have the XLs on a 4runner? Seems like there is some significant overhang on the sides. Is this an issue?
Velcro for the floor seems like a cost savings as opposed to a zipper which would be much more effective at keeping stuff out of the tent. Given how expensive these are
Yeah honestly I was actually interested in the tent until I saw that... A non-removeable floor would actually be much better than this. sucks because I really liked how the walls are all mesh for maximum breeze when camping in the heat. All the other similar style tents have closed walls and tiny windows. but I'd rather be hot and sweaty than allow bugs and critters to get in.
Having to take the floor out “recommended” kills this for me.
I have the V1 as well. What’s new with V2?
@@MrDoeMai think lights, stronger material maybe, and color, also the branding on the bag just says FSR. DoMa! 😝
Love this, I have the V1 on my FJ and can’t wait to be able to buy just the lights to put on my awning!
Stove jack size? What size pipe fits?
Oh wow. I had noticed in my ALite that the mattress was slightly shorter than the footprint. I liked to stuff puffies down at my feet and arbitrarily enjoyed it but I didn't know it was intentionally designed that way. Neato! But I gotta disagree with the only fabric color option being black. If I left the tent deployed for a late hot morning, putting down the u-bar is like sticking my hand in a furnace and burns my knuckles as the rainfly heats up. Also most of the surface of the tent in the hot sun is incredibly hot by 9am so being an early riser has its advantages.
This is exactly what I had to do - same tent, same rack. Worked like a charm!
The one thing that is making me hold off buying and Aspen Lite for my FJ Cruiser is that I wish there was a skylight window. Even if there’s a bar in the way it would still be nice to see the stars as that’s my main reason for camping.
Why would you make this tent all black????? The walls are a big miss too. Velcro attachment and not zippered. Way too much area to allow water or wind in. Learn from shiftpods mistakes don’t make new ones.
