2024 - COLORADO RIVER 100 - Kayak and Canoe Race
The Colorado River 100 is BACK! September 14, 2024 marked the return of the popular paddle race which has been on hiatus since 2020. Starting in Bastrop, Texas the 100 Kilometers (62 Miles) of unsuspectingly challenging course over shallows, shoals, and aquatic vegetation. Vegetation which had been reduced since Hurricane Harvey in 2017 (prompting race cancellation) has returned to add an extra obstacle for paddlers to surmount on their way to La Grange, Texas. Race class starts were at 5:00 am (Adventure Class) and 7:00 am (Competition Class) which was two hours earlier than the previously established course starts. Up and Back paddle race hosted by Dalan and Linda Moss, now in it's 7th year, brought out competitors from across Texas to brave the upstream battle against nature. Paddlers have 12 hours to traverse shoals, gravel beds, chutes, and pools to the turnaround bell 17 miles upstream and return to the 481 bridge in Junction, Texas.

Nextdoor was looking at Creekside RV Park construction thinking it was The Ville. Didn't even know this site was in the beginning stages so had to go take a peek with the drone. Looks like clearing has started, The Ville address is marked on Google Maps, but no grading has begun. Looks like a trench is being dug for soil testing, septic or sewer hook up.
