    I knew exactly where you started the video, the moment I saw the green house on the right, past the intersection. US30/Lincoln Highway, and PA655, even before I saw a route sign. I often pass through Hancock MD on my way home from the Appalachians, and take Timber Ridge road out of that town,which ends up at 655. I seek out twistier roads, but 655 is a pleasant road and good for covering distance.

      Thanks. Agreed. Thirty years of all season riding, fishing, camping, hiking, and exploring in West Virginia and I can whole heartedly say that it is deeply beautiful. This day started out pretty cold (40F) for a motorbike ride, and indeed we changed plans early on with Pat riding due north back to his home in Pennsylvania (vice riding together to my house) before snow hit that night and next morning. I rode with Pat as far as Junction, then we parted ways, me heading east back to northern Virginia.

    Ah so this is what Pennsylvania looks like, Tim. Leafy. Really big landscapes you have out there. Not a dry stone wall in sight 😂. Hardly another vehicle either!! T120 sounds good. Lovely leisurely ride enhanced by the harpsichord. 👌

    • @FelliniMotorcycle
      @FelliniMotorcycle 16 дней назад

      Thanks, Peter. Pennsylvania is a large state, and the landscape changes quite a bit as you make your way through it. This video was from a ride in late June of this year headed north towards the just-west-of-center of the state, for a further ride up into north central Pennsylvania where it is really really forested! Thanks for the feedback. Tim

    • @FelliniMotorcycle
      @FelliniMotorcycle 19 дней назад

      Peter, this highway is still being built. The striking thing about it is that it runs along the tops of the mountains, vice down in the valleys like the old roads. The elevated view is quite different than the valley roads (which still exist). "Surreal" is a great word for it - especially in the fall. Thanks for your feedback. Tim

  • @Lanes-Explorer5733
    @Lanes-Explorer5733 21 день назад

    One thing I've noticed is that your roads as well as being in good condition and very straight (did the Romans have a hand in designing them 😂) is the double yellow lines down the centre, which I take means no overtaking. We only really have them when it's unsafe to do so. You're more safety conscious there perhaps. Lovely piece of music on this, as always 👍

    • @FelliniMotorcycle
      @FelliniMotorcycle 21 день назад

      Correct, double solid yellow means no passing. Solid yellow with a dashed yellow on your side of the road means you can pass, but the oncoming traffic can't. Maybe more safety minded. Maybe more lawyers ..😂

    Your Triumph sounds good, Tim. How far is it from West Virginia to Kansas?

    • @FelliniMotorcycle
      @FelliniMotorcycle 21 день назад

      Peter, from my house in northern Virginia to my daughter's house in northeast Kansas it's 1265 miles if you ride a more or less direct route. I took the less direct route 🙂. So, from the middle-ish of northern West Virginia to northeast Kansas it's about a thousand miles more or less direct route.

    • @FelliniMotorcycle
      @FelliniMotorcycle 21 день назад

      Also, Peter, the Triumph exhaust note is a (now) funny story. Turns out that I made the mistake of having the "Wind Noise Reduction" setting activated on the camera(s) for the whole danged trip. So, I had to flail around a bit to recover some element of the exhaust note recording. Pretty much all we hear in this series of videos now is the putt putt of the exhaust vice the usual additional road, wind, tire, chain, gear, vehicles, etc., noise that got wiped by the wind noise reduction...

    • @Lanes-Explorer5733
      @Lanes-Explorer5733 21 день назад

      Well that's a long way so you must be very fit. It's so annoying isn't it to find out when you get back that something was incorrectly set. At least you recorded the video - I've had a few instances when nothing recorded at all!!

    • @FelliniMotorcycle
      @FelliniMotorcycle 21 день назад

      Oh, I'm not particularly fit 😁. I took my time, turning a two or three day trip into a five day pleasure outing. And I stop and stretch every hour to attend to camera battery swap outs and memory card management. I am safe out of afternoon weather events and into a hotel usually by 3pm.

      @FelliniMotorcycle Месяц назад

      Thanks, Peter. Yes, exhaust note more and more being incorporated. This was a ride from last October actually. Like you, I think, I turned to RUclips a little over a year ago as a place to make my videos more accessible for my family and friends. I had previously posted several videos to my personal website, but the videos didn't run very well from there. So when I started posting them to RUclips, I had something of a backlog. The upshot now is that I am posting videos three days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday). And I still have a backlog, especially given that longer rides result in several videos each. Currently, the Tuesday videos are of a ride my friend Pat and I took last October down a portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway and back up via West Virginia. Thursday videos will start this week with a ride I took later last October meeting up with my son and a friend of his for a two day ride across another portion of West Virginia. And starting this coming Saturday, the Virginia-to-Kansas series begins, which will run for months, as this ride took me five days in May to get to Kansas, several day rides while I was in Kansas (I was there for over two weeks), and then five days to ride back to Virginia getting home about two weeks ago. All this means that I can go on trips or otherwise not scramble to post videos, as I have weeks and months of videos in the RUclips queue at any given time. But it does mean that any changes I make to how I film or edit videos takes a long time to be shared publicly. Sorry for the long winded response, but I hope it clarifies the delayed nature of my videos. I really appreciate your feedback. Thanks again. Tim

    I prefer the sound of the bike Tim, makes you feel more part of the ride. I enjoy classical music, my preference is orchestral, but when riding I like to hear the engine. Is this all natural forest or has it been created? It's certainly well manicured along the roadside. Thanks, Mick

    • @FelliniMotorcycle
      @FelliniMotorcycle Месяц назад

      Thanks, Mick, for the feedback. I like the sound of the bike, too. Fiddling with different approaches for these videos, I mix and match music and bike sound depending on what I am partial to at the time of editing. Some efforts work better than others, but I'm pretty happy with the evolution overall. As for the forest, it's natural. Blue Ridge Parkway is a national park, and the Park Service maintains the forest, including mowing along the edges of the road.

    • @5dTraveller
      @5dTraveller Месяц назад

      Thanks Tim, there are very few large areas of natural forest left in The UK, and nothing on this scale. Just an observation, not a complaint, there's still plenty of wild landscape to enjoy over here. Yes, the Triumph is a 2019. Fuel injection, electric start, the works. Nice bike, but maybe a bit soulless if I'm honest. I just returned home after a month riding the Triumph to Kansas and back (to visit grandkids), and the Triumph is a decent traveler. Secondary roads. Avoided the interstates and bigger cities as much as possible. As for the bridge and road in this particular video, the bridge crosses the Shenandoah River. It is Route 50 that runs east west across many states. It's a decent secondary road, larger in some stretches than others. Thanks for watching and commenting, Peter. Peter, Landmark School back up top of the hill is a private school. The school has some property there, but the properties you see in this video are private farms/estates. It's a wealthy area with beautiful properties. I live about 20 miles east of this area, nice but not nearly as wealthy or picturesque😊. Found Footage identifies a collection of videos recorded about two years ago, before I ventured into RUclips. They were originally lower resolution videos that I have since upscaled to 4k. The found footage videos are the Saturday postings, and they run their course in the next month or so. The other videos, now posting Tuesdays and Thursdays, are pretty recent (there is a backlog from last year) and are filmed in 4k - so not converted or upscaled. Thanks for asking. By the by, I am day three into a motorcycle ride from Virginia to Kansas to visit my grandchildren. Tonight I am in Quincy, Illinois. I see what you did there. I don't want you to think that it didn't go unappreciated ! 😉 The Bach pipes are well made, well tempered. Easy to tune.

    Has the gearbox/gear selector problem ever been sorted out on the bonneville models either by the replacement of the gear sellector or in recent years of manufacture [if so then when] in such a way that the issue won't reoccure?

      My bike is a 2019. No issues. Not sure if how or when gear selector issue was addressed.

    Old State Route 55 from Wardensville to Moorefield remains one of my favorite rides.
