Hey, thanks for checking out my channel. I hope you find some useful information and don’t forget to subscribe so you won’t miss any new videos.
With the Holiday coming up unfortunately I'll only be posting 1 video a week on Fridays. I'll get back to twice a week in February 2024. Thanks again to everyone who has subscribed and watched my videos!
The reason for this channel is I have had projects that I feel I have wasted so much time trying to research online and on RUclips because the information is either not there or incomplete. My goal is to provide detailed videos with links to everything that I use to make your life a little easier.
I have been doing woodworking since I was in high school (a while) and I also enjoy making 3D projects and general projects so the videos I post will be basically what projects I have going on and how I go about getting them done.

Say Goodbye to Sweaty Ears: Custom Earplugs for Woodworkers!
In this video, I dive into my experience with Decibullz custom-molded ear protection designed for power tool users like us. As someone who spends a lot of time in the shop with routers, table saws, and sanders, I know the importance of protecting my hearing. Traditionally, I've relied on bulky headphones that often leave my ears sweaty and uncomfortable during long work sessions. So when Decibullz reached out to offer their product, I was excited to see if their custom-molded earplugs could provide a more comfortable solution.
Join me as I walk you through the molding process and share my first impressions of using these earplugs while working on various projects. I tested them out with my...

Batching Cutting Boards for a Craft Show - Tips, Tricks, and Hurricane Hustle!
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.21 день назад
I’ve got a craft show coming up in mid-November, so I figured it’d be a good idea to batch out a few cutting boards. Batching really saves time because you’re doing all the steps at once-everything from gluing to clamping goes smoother when you’ve got all your tools out and ready. For these boards, I used a mix of walnut, maple, and cherry, and they’re around 12.5 inches wide by 19-20 inches lo...

Sorry, I had no idea there was going to be a LIVE. I think there's a way to post an advance notice.
Saludos yo tengo una falcón2 de 40 w, quisiera que hicieras un tutorial para cambiar la manguera de aire
Oooh
Riveting with these things is a bloody nightmare. I spent a couple of hours using one while working on a van roller shutter, great hand strength workout tho. Thanks for the shout out too.
Shout out to you on my latest video buddy, dropping about 3pm GMT today. 🙂
Awesome thank you!
I got your design online - I tried first doing my own and it was a good experience - I am very new at this - the 2nd rain deer did not stay attached to the other ones - Any advises?
The small little lines can be difficult if you don't have your cut settings dialed in. There are 2 things I would suggest trying. 1. Try cutting the layer at a lower power with multiple passes so that the deer stays intact. 2 when you have the file in lightburn ungroup the ornament and select the top of the inner circle (where the deer heads are) and do an offset inward at about 0.0090 and this will make the design a little thicker and should allow for the cut without any issues. Let me know if this helps or if you would like a short video showing how to make the changes.
@@wilmerwoodworks Thank you so much let me try first
This is awesome. I shall try it. Well done.
Go for it!
Hi Steve, thanks for your great and detailed instruction, this was great. Kind of a newbie for laser stuff. I haven't got a machine yet, just learning at the moment. So thanks, trying to learn lots.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that my instructions are helping you as you dive into the world of lasers. Keep learning and asking questions!
Keep pushing dear, soon we will be there 🎉
Thank you for the encouragement! Together, we’ll reach our goals sooner than we think!
Thanks for sharing,a great video 🎉
Thanks!
Hello Steve. I have a question not related to this video, but since you asked for questions, I need to ask you to see if you can help me out. I made a cribbage board out of purple heart and maple and don't to mess it up. I want to engrave the lines around the tracks but my laser has only a 16" x 16" bed. I have a longer 5 10w laser. Do you have any ideas or thoughts on how to do that? Thanks
I would use register marks and the Print and Cut feature. I'll put a video out soon showing that feature but until then check out this video ruclips.net/video/n__saOKVupA/видео.html
Thank you very much for answering
the boolean union is not working for me. wonder if it's because i'm running ver 1.401
It should still work with v1.4. I'm using v1.7 myself. What is it doing? Did you select only 2 objects at 1 time?
so when i click the 2 welded outer circles then the exact same snowflake you have. the boolean function grays out. the only way i can get it to work is if i ungroup the snowflake and then click 2 circles then outer most vector of the snowflake. i can send you a video if you tell me where to send it
Weird, but we'll figure this out. Please send me a video and I'll see if I can see what's going on; Steve@WilmerWoodWorks.com
Good idea using the laser to mark the centreline and cut the hole for the pegboard. The tape works well too!
Thanks! I hope to add the laser to more of my shop templates and storage solutions in the future. The tape worked a lot better than I expected.
Great video. Really helped me.
Glad to hear it!
Why did you put glue on the Santa and Reindeer? They're not touching anything.. Their free-floating..
Because I get excited and don’t always pay attention 😂
@@wilmerwoodworks I get that.. Welcome to my world!!
I’m just learning LightBurn too. This video was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Didn’t see any upgrade? Did I miss it?
😂
Highly beneficial appreciate the step by step tutorial
I’m glad it helped you
Thank you. Great lesson for an old newbie. Where can I get the download?
Newbie here from Charleston SC. I have a co2 laser and very new to the laser world so any and all laser and engraving videos are very helpful. Thanks for this easy step by step video
Welcome aboard! A CO2 Laser, SWEET! You can definitely do more than me with that. I'll have more tutorials up soon. It looks like I can get about 1 uploaded per week so stay tuned for Friday.
Good tutorial and I'm just beginning. What I don't know is what wood/material is best to use for something like this? 1/8" or 1/16" - mdf or plywood?
It depends what you plan to do. If you are going to make ornaments like the one in this tutorial I would suggest 1/8" or 3mm because that is what I found works best. It will also depend on what type of laser you have a 10w or 12w would be fine with 1/8". I would start with basswood ply and don't forget to run a test pattern to get your settings dialed in.
Thank you for this video. Subscribed and thank you for the free file. Tried today and after a few tries. I was able to cut it out. Again thank you.
Thanks for the sub! I'm glad it helped
The music isn't loud enough.
Good to know!
Thank you so much for this video. I am a total newbie, but I learn real fast. I was able to make my own version, Egyptian style!
Wonderful!
Wouldn't it be easier to make 2 tabs on each side for putting the dollar in instead of rolling it up?
Great idea. I think I'll redesign this for 1 tab so you only have to worry about sliding it on one side.
Please work on your audio. I had to turn up my volume quite a bit then, when the ads interrupted it was really loud. But, love the design and tutorial.
Sorry about that. This is something I struggle with, hang in there I'll get better.
So creative! Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Your setup showed that the letters were in the RED color which showed 250/100, cutout, but when you showed the item, the letters were not cut out, they were engraved. Did you change something before you engraved it?
Yes I thought 💭 I changed that on the DL the letters should be the same as the center engraving 3600/20
Love it! ❤😮
Thanks! I just finished up the full video. Next project is a Santa Charcuterie board!
@@wilmerwoodworks YAY!!!!
Great video_ what was the Cut time?
Sorry it took so long for me to respond. It was about 18 to 20 minutes.
I am a new in the laser world. I have a P2 and the m1 ultra This is amazing I'm using the XCS and I was wondering should I get the Lightburn software and would easy to set up the project in Lightburn better then XCS. Is a lot to learn because I have to learn what setting and everything else. For sure do more videos on ornaments and Christmas idea. I will be asking questions for sure. Glad I found you. God bless you. Oh love the DIY. Thanks
I have never used XCS (I don't have an X-tool - but if they want to send me one 🎁👍) I like Lightburn it does everything I need it to do and works well with my current setup. Happy you found the channel and yes I have more Christmas Ideas I'm working on now so I'll have more videos soon.
@@wilmerwoodworks Thank you for your responding back. Which one of the Lightburn if I purchase the Pro.
Nice
Thanks
Love the background music! Great video.
Thanks 👍
Thanks for taking the time to make this video and the snowflake files,,,
You're welcome. I'll have more Christmas videos and projects soon!
Congrats on the monetisation bro! Stay safe in that dodgy weather!
Thanks! Will do!
I hope your craft shows are a huge success! 😁
I hope so too!
Love this and I’ve stayed away from ornaments because my availability to affordable 1/8 wood in my area. You are making me want to start looking again.
Wonderful! I use my planer to reduce the thickness of scraps I have or I purchase the ply off of Amazon they aren't terrible on price.
First craft shows?!? Good luck Steve! Also so awesome to see your channel growing. Well done sir :D
Fingers crossed!
Good luck with the fares. It’s great to see the subs growth is still going well.
Much appreciated
Hello Steve, just found your channel, I have watched several tutorials on similar builds and I must congratulate you on the way you explain the different aspects of the build, I understood everything you said and demonstrated. By far the best tutorial on You Tube, thank you sir and keep up the good work. New subscriber here mate..
Thanks and welcome. I hope to have more tutorials uploaded soon.
Great job but, the glue on the reindeer was not necessary!! :)
😂lol I know right
Good luck with your upcoming shows!!! I’m sure you will do great! 😊
Thank you, I've never done one so hopefully I'll be prepared. Also, I had no idea I published this video I thought I had it scheduled for 9am this morning, not 9pm last 😱
@@wilmerwoodworks lol that explains the title change haha, I noticed the original title was just the date :D
Still using the trial version of Lightburn. But learning what other functions do is very helpful. I use Flex sign for my sign shop so some of this is similar to me but, it's still nice to watch some of the more advanced functions. Subscribed.
Nice I'm glad this helps I'll have more soon.
I got the black ones too. They were a bitch to get on, but I found a small flathead screwdriver, 1/4" head, and a heatgun finally worked for me. I put it around the small wheel and place the screwdriver between the larger wheel and the belt and use the screwdriver to pull it around while I kept heating the belt until it was fully on.
I’m glad you got them to work I just struggled and then they ripped so I’m sticking with the orange ones from now on
@@wilmerwoodworks I am hoping all the struggle to get them on didn't weaken them so that they fall apart after a little bit of work. But we'll see.
This thing will not engrave these small pieces of wood it engraves on this foam board but not basswood
What thickness basswood are you trying to cut? 3mm(1/8") I set my 12w to 250mm at 100% and sometimes have to do 2 passes but it will cut. I have even cut 1/4" ply using 5 passes. You will also need the air assist on to avoid any burning.
I've melting pads as well. It sucks, it's sanding with an oscillating tool is often the best way
Thanks for watching! I guess I'll just have to invest in more pads
Great instruction, What's a good price to sell these? Thanks
This depends on a few things one of which is your location, are you selling online or at a craft show? I would suggest between $10 - $15 but that is just my thoughts I currently struggle with pricing and hope after I sell at a few more craft shows I'll have a better handle on it. I tend to price my items too low (at least that is what I've been told)
Thank you! I'm a newbie laser user and these videos are very helpful!
Great to hear! Glad it helped.
Very Helpfull, maybe like floral shapes like earings ect would be nice😁
Great idea!!
