Hello great info..💯👍, is it the same for Tenerife? bit confused thank you so much 👋🏻☀️😀
@@Paola11852 Thanks. Yes the rules are Spanish National rules so apply to Tenerife as well. However, sometimes you may find different provinces have slightly different procedures.
@ Hi 👋🏻. Aw…thank you for letting me know 🤗😀
The first time watching your channel. I like your presentation, and also the music in the background. Very relaxing. We are coming to Faro Park in January. Can't wait.
@@grahamhall2105 Thanks very much for your comments. Glad you enjoyed the video and hope you have a great time in January. 😎
Just found your channel and subscribed
Thanks 😊 I’ve returned the compliment.
Hotel whar?
Hotel Diamar.
In the video I mentioned the financial requirements for long term residency EU are 150% of IPREM for the first applicant and 50% for each dependent. It is actually 150% IPREM for a COUPLE, not each, and 50% for each dependent thereafter.
Hello, this question is off topic I know. How much is a KWH of electric and how much is the equal of council tax? I will be in the Biker Bar every day from the 10 Jan, where I leave my wife while I have a swim at Dorada, hope to catch you there.
@@12alocin Hi again, electricity varies depending on the plan you have. Some plans have the same rate 24/7 while others have 3 different rates depending on when you use it. Average is probably around 10 to 12 céntimos per kWh. I’ve seen some advertising 9 centimos with Endesa but not sure of the contract details. Council tax equivalent is called IBI and rubbish collection is usually extra. We pay 420€ a year for IBI and rubbish collection is included in our community fees, which are about the same amount.
@@HolaLanzarote2024 Thanks for that. Our first night will be dinner in the Chinese overlooking Flamingo beach around 6.30.
Great video of a very eclectic night David. Not sure the "screamer" on stage at 6.10 is quite my taste though. 🤣🤣🤣
@@watchthis7620 Thanjs again for watching and commenting. Yes, a real mix of music. I perhaps didn’t really get the best of the singer, she sang Alleluia beautifully but I was a bit bothered about copyright issues if I put more of the song in the video. Swan Lake next week 😀
Really good video David - thank you. I will definitely hop in the car and do that walk next week myself. Also good use of stock drone footage - have you considered getting one of your own? 👍
Thanks again for watching and for the comments. Hope you enjoy it. I did think about getting a drone as it really adds something to videos - but I think I might be dangerous with it! It's good to be able to use stock footage , although I would prefer it to be all my own work.

Thank you 😎
The application for a NLV is it interpreted the same in the canary’s as in the main land ?
When you initially apply for an NLV you apply in your country of residence, so UK if you are in the UK. There are three consulates in the UK and whilst they all have to follow the same rules, there may be some slightly different requirements between consulates. Although you have to state which province of Spain you intend to live in, you are applying for the national visa of Spain so it makes no difference whether it's the mainland or the islands. When it comes to renewals though, different provinces may again have slightly different procedures, although they al follow the same law.
Hi Dave, congrats on the channel. Can I ask why ye picked Lanzarotte above the other islands and why not the Spainish mainland? Best of luck with the videos. T.
Thanks for watching and your supportive comments. I always preferred the mainland but my wife can't put up with the extreme summer heat. She likes the breeze here and I liked the idea of all year round sunshine. Of the canary Islands, we've only ever been to Fuerteventura and Lanzarote so wanting to choose somewhere we knew, we decided on Lanzarote, just felt it was a bit nicer and easier to get around the island.
Great Post David. I've shared to friends currently in year 1 NLV 😎
@@garethhull5905 thanks Gareth
I'm very curious, How old are you ? have you got grandchildren, if so, how often do you seen them? We are all set to come out for eight weeks 9 Jan.

@@HolaLanzarote2024 Thanks for that, now I understand.
hi Dave are you renting in Lanzarote or did you end up buying ?
@@TracyFalconerWilliams We rented for 12 months while we looked for somewhere to buy. Bought our house just over 2 years ago. Long term rentals are quite hard to find, particularly in the more touristy areas.
Thanks for the video. Back in 8 days 23 hours lol 😆
Not that you're counting!! Thanks for watching and for the comments. Glad you enjoyed it.
Well done!
@@f.k.3762 Thank you. I enjoyed the early morning walk and doing the video. Glad you enjoyed it.
Great video David. Think me and my three brothers walked up there about 10 years ago. Great memories. Love the sunrise 🌅
@@bammeruk1 Thanks again. Yes it’s a nice walk and more interesting from the top.
Another great video David. Especially like the time lapse section showing the Fred Olsen come in at 7.00. I bet a full day time lapse from the mountain top showing the boats going too and from Corralejo would be quite something! By the way, this is the first time I've seen you eating food without a beer! 🍺🍺🍺🤣🤣🤣
@@watchthis7620 Thanks again. I really appreciate your comments and support. Yes I was thinking when I saw the ferry coming in something like that might be fun. A bit too early for a beer though 😀
Another great video. Top notch. Any idea if the port at playa blanch was originally meant for cruise liners but was built incorrectly?
@@bammeruk1 Thanks again. I believe they built it intending to attract the smaller cruise liners but I read recently that it wasn’t being supported by the cruise authorities and the local mayor has made a complaint about that. Not heard anything about it not being suitable.
Excellent video. Me and my wife (37 years old) having a glass of wine watching before we head over to playa blanca in 2 weeks. Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks for your support and encouragement. Glad you enjoyed the video and hope you have a great time in Playa Blanca.
Yes I have wondered about playing up there. I've always discounted it because of the thought of dragging my bag of clubs on holiday with us 😂but I may take a run up there to have a go on the range if you can hire clubs. Nice one.
@@bryanneighbour6978 The range costs 2€ for 32 balls and you can hire 3 clubs for 7€. Full set for 35€. If you’re really into it there is a PB golf society for residents and regular visitors.
Smashing! I'm sure your Missus raises her eyebrows as you step away to record a little snippet in the middle of dinner 😊but honestly, I smiled all the way through. Nice to see you enjoying the sunshine and life on the Island. And now you've made me hungry 😂
@@bryanneighbour6978 Thanks Bryan. Yes she does make a few pointed comments but on the whole is very supportive.
When I first saw this upload I thought you were going to stroll down to the benches for the sunrise. Perfect timing! Missed a trick there my friend. Slightly reflective sounding? Hope you're ok. As we get older, we all need a hobby and a distraction. So, these videos you post hopefully are a positive for you. They are for us your subscribers. Where you are based is somewhere we've holidayed as a family for over 15 years, so what you post has been of great interest to me for sure. Every year as we sit by the pool we have that discussion. Wouldn't it be nice to live here. But then we had the very same discussion up in Scotland a few months ago. And in Northumberland the year before. For us and probably everybody else it's our circumstances of course. Would we want to live miles away from our kids? Elderly parents etc? If we were to move to Scotland (we live in Essex at the moment) for example and then grandchildren appear. We would want to be a huge part of that. So, the distance wouldn't work. But if my circumstances were very different, I can fully see me finding somewhere quieter to settle. So, I fully understand your decision to make that move. And as you say you made that move at the right time. I would think many people would be interested in what it would take to do that. An excellent idea for a few videos. Take care.
Thanks once again Bryan. This was just a spontaneous video with not much thought beforehand so I just said a few things off the top of my head. I appreciate your comments- move by doesn’t suit everyone and often the time is not right- as it was not right for us when I wanted to make the move years ago but Anne wasn’t ready. Glad you find my videos helpful- I enjoy making them.
Beautifully photographed David, but your video did suffer from wind noise on the ship - probably the fillet steak and beer combo! Ha Ha.
@@watchthis7620 😂 Thanks again for your support. It means a lot to me. I think there’s some kind of electronic interference. Will have to convince my wife I need to upgrade 😀
Thanks ,look forward to the bus travel.

Hi David. Another great video and a belated Happy Birthday. Try the Armas next time - old school, but there is loads of outside deck space and you really feel like you are on a boat (rather than in the Fred Olsen "tin can"). 🤣🤣🤣
@@watchthis7620 Thanks again, I’ll definitely try the Armas next time - more my kind of ferry. Thanks for the birthday greetings too.
There are no changes to the Non lucrative visa requirements...2 years is the requirement across Spain for income on the current 2 and 4 years. Spain won't pass the 4 year rule as it will discourage too many people due to financial implications . This was identified by the tourist Minister in Parliament this week. 90 days won't be changed, France killed it in the recent European review on visas for holiday home owners. Good informative video.
Thanks for that Michael. It does seem the 4 years, if implemented, could be an issue as regards finances.
Thank you for an informative video.
Glad it was helpful!
Where did you get this info regarding the NLV changing to 4 year renewal please ?
@@edwardospells7477 It’s a proposed change, so is not yet confirmed, and is found in this document - article 64 paragraph 7. Smashing video. May I say some rather excellent camera work too. I always find it sad to see the unfinished buildings by the lighthouse. But money talks of course. I do understand the previous comment about making the move permanent. Its a massive step to live in another country. Language barrier. Moving away from everything youre used to etc. And family ties maybe? Really looking forward to your ferry insights. Would you believe in the 15 years weve been coming to PB weve never done that. So looking forward to your video. Thanks for the name check 😉
@@bryanneighbour6978 Thanks for the comments. I”m trying to do something better than the usual walkthrough viciemos you often see on RUclips. Takes longer but I enjoy doing it. Yes it is a big step to make the move but just over 3 years here and we’re really happy. Hopefully I can do a decent video on the ferry trip. 😀
Done that very walk many many times over the years and ended with a swim at Dorada. I have a feeling you live in the area of Faro. Loved Playa blanca for years, and wanted to live there but my missus was afraid and against the idea although she also loves it. Be there for eight weeks from 9 Jan.
@12alocin We moved here to Playa Blanca full time in Dec 2020 (just squeezed in pre Brexit). What was your missus "afraid and against the idea" of? We love it. It is really peaceful (versus where we used to live in North West England) and much cheaper (and safer) than living back in the UK. We have not regretted a single moment in the past four years . 😎😎😎
@@12alocin Yes I live around there. We used to have a house in south Alicante and I wanted to retire there. My wife was dead against it so we sold it and retired to the Lancashire countryside instead. But I worked on it over the years and she eventually came round to the idea, but said it’s Playa Blanca or nowhere - so I opted for Playa Blanca. Enjoy your stay.

Yes, you are right.
The Spanish officials do not get to see the detail of the ACRO report. They only see the summary such as Trace, No Active Trace or No Trace. Convictions are stepped down over time by the authorities in the UK in order to come to one of those summary conclusions - so if you were a naughty boy as a youngster and the offence was not serious, it would potentially be summarised by ACRO as no active trace - that is all, no detail on the specific offences or timeframes / age. Look at the ACRO certificate, I.e., the only thing you submit to the consulate and you will see this is the case. At the time my visa was done the Spanish consulate were only accepting ACROs showing no active trace or no trace.
@@kevtheargonut Thanks for you comment. Yes you are absolutely right about the step down model.
In year 5 you do have an alternative to to the Spanish residency visa, the EU residency which allows you to move to another EU country. A few more hoops to go through but our solicitors are making all their clients away of this
@@Simon-jj2pu Thanks Simon. My next video is about long term residency at year 5, which is my next step so I’m getting all clued up on it. There used to be some confusion about the requirements but I’ll be exploring all that. Thanks again for your comment.
In Almeria I had to provide 2 years medical insurance paid up front for the year 2 renewal, this was 2 months ago. Four years is going to be expensive for those not on a S1 (for us it is 1400 for a couple per year)
Yes it will be interesting to see how the detail is interpreted. No doubt there will be inconsistency across the country.
Good info thanks
You’re right about taking caps off, I lost one over the edge a few years ago.😂 Love the channel.
@@neilbedford2756 Thanks Neil, great to hear you’re enjoying it.
Hello, I would like to do the move like you have. I have a question. My pension is 30k per year plus I have enough money in the bank to qualify for the 5 years. Do you have any idea how much income tax I would pay on my pension? Do Spain have a tax threshold like the UK or do you pay tax on the full amount of the pension.
@@philipderbyshire1459 Hi Philip, thanks for watching and for your question. Yes there are tax allowances in Spain and the general tax free allowance is around 5500€ and 6700€ for those aged over 65. I think it goes up to 8100€ when you are 70. There are also regional differences with tax rates so it’s difficult to say what you would pay. But generally, the first 12450€ of taxable income (after allowances) you would pay 19%, then 24% on taxable income up to 20200€ and 30% up to 35200€. If your pension is a UK government pension, i.e. civil service, teacher, police, military, etc, you will be taxed in the UK on that pension and not in Spain, although you still declare it. There are various tax guides online that should give you a good idea. Income from savings is taxed at 19% on the first 6000€ of income and it gets progressively higher. So you may pay a little more tax on your pension in Spain than in the UK but our ‘council tax’ is 400€ a year (2000 in the UK) and road tax 16€ a year, so there are savings to be had as well. We spoke to a professional tax advisor before we came and it cost 75€ for a video chat which I would recommend for proper advice. Hope this helps. Good luck with the move.
There are tax calculators via google. There isn’t a threshold, you calculate the tax then deduct the allowance (which is very small ). You pay this in the July following the calendar year. You still pay the U.K. tax on your non state pension, until you pay the Spanish tax on the same amount. You then fill in a HMRC form to claim the tax back and get a U.K. NT tax code and wait and wait for the cheque!!
@@Simon-jj2pu Thank you for the reply. It seems then that I will pay more tax in Spain than I do in the UK due to having no threshold. Also health Insurance will be heavy for a 66 year old. Maybe it is not worth the move. Perhaps I will look elsewhere to retire. I see Cyprus has a low taxation and even a non dom status. Thank you for your help.
@@philipderbyshire1459we looked at Cyprus but the cost of living and cost of housing made us choose inland Spain. At aged 66 medical insurance is free if you have a U.K. state pension and aquire the S1
@@philipderbyshire1459your taxes if you are in Andalusia on 35700 euro (30k GBP at todays fx rate) will be 6573 euros per year. Approx meant as a guide
