1985 Peterbilt 359 Extended Hood Restoration Part 1: The Story, the New Frame, & Paint.
Просмотров 5 тыс.2 года назад
Hello all! New to this RUclips thing but thought you all would like to follow along as I begin the full restoration of this 1985 Peterbilt 359 Extended Hood. I've never done a project of this scale before, so this should be interesting!
keep it old school
Any updates on this project? It's a sweet truck that will be nice when you get it completed.
They make a one piece fiberglass replacement top,
Don’t drill the mirror holes on the passenger side! Electric wipers a must! 4 states truck parts in Joplin, Mo for 359 new dash!
I’ve got the rubber boot for in between the cab and bunk if you’re in need of one.
Great job!
Haven’t rained on Lool
Great looking frame, Sir! It was watching Twin Stick Garage and EZ Rider that led me to your channel. Great job!
Electric is better then air
Excellent work! Hopefully you can fit in a new update soon
Ditch the mirror, they take away from a clean smooth look. If the electric run two switches like air I'd go electric. Individual wipers is part of the old skool cool.
Awesome. Also check out oil farmer. He’s rebuilding an r model mack frame off restoration and it’s pretty interesting
Delete mirror and if not working and keeping original definatly air wipers
Hi what about putting electric windscreen wipers hanging down so when not in use they will be hidden under sun visor 👍
delete the mirror and go electric,, so nice to see you doing a steel roof,,,,,,alot of work no one will know but you but its such a nice skill to have and you'll be able to puff out your chest a little more and be more prouder that it was done right,,,,,,,,just sound dead it
Hey, good to have you back with more updates on the project!! Update the build wherever possible. Electric wipers for example. Mirrors... your choice....
I have the air wipers on mine and they work really good. You can rebuilt your switches, there isn't a lot to them. Either way would be okay.
I would keep it. I have them on my 359's and once you get them set right they come in handy.
I’d delete the mirror, you don’t see much out of them anyway and I’d definitely upgrade to the electric wipers especially if the cost is comparable.
Electric wipers
Glad to see more episodes. You do nice work
Hey merry Christmas
No mirror. Electric wipers.
Delete the mirror & electric wipers
Delete the mirror and go with electric wipers. I’m in the same predicament with my roof, my end caps are good but center section is shot around the horns and lights.
Great to have you back! If truck ain't working, lose the mirror. I believe they help alot with the blind spot, but look like heck. Your attention to detail is amazing!
I'd pick the electric wipers and keep the mirror. Looking forward to the next episode!
Delete the mirror. It really doesn't help that much if you're truly paying attention to your surroundings. If your not working go with electric wipers. Air wipers are higher maintenance. I'm glad to see you are doing a true restoration. Good luck going forward.
This is going to make a factory Peterbilt look shaby.
Have got to wondering if you are still working on the Peterbilt. No videos for a while now. Everything getting back to normal busy for everyone so less time for creative stuff.... hope you find time to post some additional segments.
I sure do miss the 359 I used to drive.
So glad I found your channel and project, the Color is great and being built properly, love it 😍
Wow!!! Talk about attention to detail. Excellent work. Thanks for bringing us along. Look forward to more. Subscribed
Thank you
it's fantastic to see how this old peterbilt gets a new life. Looks like yours is going to be a masterpice! I'm looking forward to it. I like your videos
Thank you
Frame looks awesome cool color
Thanks, it was quite the process
First time watching, subscribed enjoy NICE paint waiting for more good show
Thank you
That is going to be a great project. I have a 359 EXHD that I have owned for over 30 years. I quiit trucking agter 45 years and I am going to redo mine just to drive to truck shows. Good luck on your project.
Hey have you ordered from dansshop inc. pretty decent the #1 for 359 oem parts
Hey I hope your not using that 379 sleeper
That left frame rail looks twisted on camera.
Gorgeous job
Thank you
Just found ur channel.. that leaf on rear drivers side I assume..its painted but messed up way it looks. Looks bent or bowed up in middle more so.. maybe just on video.. but if truck it came off was flopped over
I never noticed, I will have to look at it
As the Professional fleet painter that I am, I would have painted everything in epoxy, sand it, then put it together and paint it all at once. I understand what he is saying about keeping a wet edge, but usually these paint jobs are done with Paint pressure pots and 2 painters at the same time. I myself usually will have everything sandblasted before the paint process.
I did have everything sand blasted before paint, I’m not a professional painter so I did it this way to keep the overspray to a minimum.I’m learning as I go.
Hello from Ohio I am new to your channel and I follow a lot of trucking channel's on here and I really enjoy watching your videos.
I had 310 wb with inserts over 5 years i pulling over weight, no problem 😉
Great, I highly doubt I would have any issues
I have heard that you get better monetization from the algorithm by creating content just over 20 minutes. The trick is to get folks watching straight through. Most people have 22 minutes in the day to watch interesting work taking place. So, do not make rambling 40 minute segments. Edit out the fluff. So far you are doing great! As TwinStick always says "less talk more work" Perhaps look at a wireless clip on microphone with a fuzzy cover to deaden any reverb and to soften sounds being recorded. I have also seen head mount cam so what you see I see for some work situations.
Yeah I need to step it up a notch on a few things for sure.
I agree on the mic
Thank you for your videos I can't wait to see your next one
Thank you,I appreciate it.
Nice work, good to see that you keep things original. Not the easiest or cheapest way, but in the end the most satisfying and valuable way. Can't wait for the next episode, all the best from Holland!
Thank you
Coming along nice!....I watched twin sticks' build and enjoyed it, without sounding too critical of his work, there's something to be said about the attention to detail/extra mile that you're going to make this a more thorough restoration. In the end I think you'll be able to rest easy knowing all the extra effort paid off!! Thanks to cousin Kenny for getting you to film the progress, I think this is gonna be an awesome truck when you get it done!
Thank you, Kenny definitely is the humor and does an awesome job.
Followed Twinsticks all the way thru his builds still follow him, and know ill follow yours.
Thank you,I appreciate it.
