WT induces people to make a commitment to their imposter god AND the organization under false pretences, and therefore the contract entered into at baptism is invalid. WT has no religious, scriptural, spiritual or moral authority, and so disfellowshiping is not a valid or true expression of the true God's will, and a letter of disassociation is not required. WT claims to be a Christian ogranization even though they deny Jesus and rarely refer to Jesus in their teachings. True Christians follow and obey Jesus and are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

When WatchTower political rules state that a disassociated person to return must REPENT just as a wrongful disfellowshipped person is required, how is the USA freedom to quit, regarded as a wrong needing to repent when USA law says you did no wrong? What are YOU repenting from other than the fact you left, and if required to REPENT from that, then the WT has broken the constitution law. IN teh end matter they are saying if youre OUT (even a nonMember if you wrote a disassociate letter) they can put those rules on you to come back and claim you have to REPENT just because you gave them a QUIT letter.

You said write no letter because being unbaptized means your a nonMember (but not if youre baptized so then theyll create any reason to DF you without 2 witnesses).

Jesus spoke an illustration recorded at Matthew 24: 45-51 which well illustrates this thesis. Jesus asked, “Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over all his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time? Happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so. Truly I say to you, He will appoint him over all his belongings. But if ever that evil slave should say in his heart, ‘My master is delaying,’ and should start to beat his fellow slaves and should eat and drink with the confirmed drunkards, the master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect and in an hour that he does not know, and will punish him with the greatest severity and will assign him his part with the hypocrites. There is where his weeping and the gnashing of his teeth will be.” Watchtower teaches that Jesus was foretelling a time when he would appoint a faithful and discreet slave class over his followers on earth. However, nowhere did Jesus identify himself as the master in his illustration. Furthermore, Matt. 24:45-51 does not discuss two separate slaves, but only one slave. The examination by the master upon his return would determine if the slave was, in fact, faithful and discreet or evil. There are two features which must be fulfilled for one to fit Jesus’ model of a faithful and discreet slave, and both features were fulfilled by Jesus before he ascended to heaven. First, the slave must give the master’s domestics their food at the proper time. That 2013 Watchtower article arrogantly boasted that, “When Jesus comes for judgment during the great tribulation, he will find that the faithful slave has been loyally dispensing timely spiritual food to the domestics. Jesus will then delight in making the second appointment-over all his belongings. Those who make up the faithful slave will get this appointment when they receive their heavenly reward, becoming corulers with Christ.” Do those sound like the words of a humble slave who has yet to be examined, much less judged? Or, rather, do they sound like the boasting of the evil slave in Jesus’ illustration?

@WatchStayAwake, with all due respect, your reasoning is based on your misunderstanding of the facts. This is not correct, neither in a legal sense nor in a practical sense. The only persons who fall into the non-member category are those who were never baptized as a JW. Once one takes the voluntary step of getting baptized as a JW, one remains subject to Watchtower's rules even when one withdraws from associating with the congregation and can be disfellowshiped if one decides to celebrate birthdays, holidays, attend a service of another religious organization, join the military, or take a blood transfusion. Any such actions make one liable to disfellowshiping action and shunning. The only way to become free of interference from Watchtower or its agents is to officially disassociate, either verbally or in writing. Personally, I chose to disfellowship Watchtower and Jehovah's Witnesses from my life by writing a letter of disassociation. I was not going to keep quiet about what I had learned about Watchtower hypocrisy and false teachings, and that alone would have made me subject to being disfellowshiped.

My thoughts. If one decides to walk away instead of DAing, that person can still be disfellowshipped. Nothing would have been gained. To illustrate, most likely one who walks away will gradually be accepting, embracing, or participating in one of the miriad JW forbidden behaviors or beliefs. If someone leaves the area and there is no likelihood or coming into contact with JWs who knew them, they're safe. However, if one remains in the area, you can be sure that busy body, do-gooder JWs will be joyfully watching the person to report to the local congregation any JW infraction. The person will with close to 100% assurance be DFd. The exception to this is if the local congregation deems that others in the territory don't view the person as being a JW. I wouldn't defend on that from prior experience as an Elder. Such a person was DFd in a Congregation I attended. The only way to not have to constantly "look over one's shoulder" is to cut ties and DA. Of course, that person needs to weigh the benefit of being able to retain contact against the stress of trying to maintain a JW accepted appearance in word and deed.

So, it sounds like unless your name is read at the K Hall as being disfellowshipped or disassociated, you are still counted as a member? We all know that more are leaving than joining, so that would explain why their membership is still 8 million since 2014. They are counting the thousands of us who faded as members. I personally think they are around 6 million by now.

I have helped some folks defend themselves from elders who don't follow WT's own rules. Of course, how can the average rank & file witness defend against rules they have no access to? I often wondered why someone hadn't sued them for breaking these "secret" rules. And what does the law say about an org having secret rules? Maybe it's time we did that!.

Thank you for exposing WT as the enemies they are. Personally, I do not recognize WT or any congregation as having religious, spiritual or scriptural authority over anyone because a close examination of their doctrines and scripture reveals that they are an apostate organization. I have therefore been shunning them, as an organization, in accordance with the scriptures that they themselves quote to have nothing to do with apostates. As they do not have any religious authority, I am under no obligation to communicate with them concerning their apostate regulations.

She would shun me if I left so I have to stay PIMO. Two things. Every congregation is set up technically as a nonprofit. In United States, they’re called an NGO, Here in Canada, they just called nonprofit organizations. They have to do that for their nonprofit status to avoid taxes on all the donations. Second thing, have you ever thought about finding the right kind of lawyers that specialize in this stuff in the religious field and maybe getting half our consultation to get some more answers clarified and then you could share with us?

The problem with all the legal issues against the Watchtower is that Watchtower is not responsible or can be held accountable for any policies! One needs to sue "The Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses" the governing body falls under this legal entity.

I haven’t preached or attended meetings since 2018. I have no YT channel or any other public platform to speak out publicly about the org, except for commenting occasionally. I have not joined another religion, or political party, I simply faded. So according to their guidelines you read I am weak in faith, “suffering discouragement”. I have received no “consolation or support” as they claim to give. The elders have done nothing to “provide spiritual assistance” in any way. In reality I am being soft shunned. Some in the congregation will avoid my wife and I if we see them in the street. Not one JW has taken the initiative to approach, help or support us, if there is any interaction it is initiated by us. So no matter what they claim to do, in reality it’s a lie. We’re not the only ones. Other ex witnesses have said the same. They are deceiptful liars! So who is their father?

They called in person, to persuade me to return, with my five word DA letter in hand. “I would be welcomed back.” is what the MS said. Would there be a long back seat shunning gong show first? I don’t know. What do you think? So happy to be out.

I simply faded 25yrs ago..no need to write any disassociation letter. And I've kept my JW family members.

I happily wrote a dis letter. If you are considered a member ( not a word they like you to use now ) the congregationa are obligated to send X amount of $ per member, so you are financially aiding the cult whether you plan to or not. Some have families, they don't want to loose so they just pretend...that would be stressful...I wish the activist would all get together and promote a PIMO walk out day. Just think how that could wake up a lot of sheeple if the PIMOs would just stop pretending and tell out and walk out!!

I felt compelled to write that I was repenting of my unscriptural baptism and wish them the best. Although I haven't spoken to most of my family in years I feel absolutely no regrets because I encountered the true Jesus a couple of years later. True christianity is a relationship with God, not a religion.
