Welcome to Machinist Made. I am a Machinist by trade Turned educator, but love to tinker with anything earth moving and tool related. This channel is about "restoring" older equipment, fixing up my property (it's a mess), and tool reviews and honestly anything else I feel like doing. Like, Sub and hopefully stick around for more content.

Drilling, Tapping and Chamfers in Fusion360
your smoke alarm is beeping, are you black?
Worthless video
Does this operation have to approach the part from the side? If i feel comfortable that it drops on it from top, can i do it? I am missing literally 0.5mm of my cnc workspace to apptoach from the side.
Of course you can...... But it's not recommended. Usually, due to people being inexperienced and a potential crash. But you can always slow the plunge feed rate way down and drop in on top.
@@machinistmade784 Is there a way to do in in Fusion360 setting or I just manually edit the g-code? If you know how you do it in Fusion, please, tell me. All the options I see is using Pocket or Adaptive Clearing. But I am curious how to make it the right way - with Facing.
You didn’t say why
I have the med and large 1/2” dewalt impact wrenches. By default, they came with the little ball detect, so I guess that’s all I’ve ever worked with
do a review!
Yo my boy is that vise you used animated? I try doing this with a kurt model i downloaded but there was no controllers to move the rear jack.
It's not animated. It's just has joint that I can move to fit parts of different sizes.
@@machinistmade784 so is it an assembly then?
Yes
BRRRRRRR U ARE THE BEST
If 3.25in x 3.25in is the stock size, then the 1.35in is the sawn length, not another stock size… unless mills are producing cuboids as a stock product now
We don't actually saw our material in house. However, if we were to saw it in house we would have ordered 1.25in X 3.25in Flat bar and saw to length 3.25in. That way we would not be depending on the saw cut for flatness when we load it in the vise. But our local supplier actually mill sizes our material for our 5 axis jobs. Even thou that would clearly not be needed for this simple part like this.
Lol I've almost done that 😅
Great material! Keep it coming. I've got quite a lot to learn. Thanks
Thanks, will do!
That's a neat trick using a chamfer mill to pierce the material and put the chamfer on before milling out the isogrid pattern.
OK...the 64 dollar question...do you run a keyseat cutter in the climb mode or convention cutting mode.
For me, it depends. For softer materials, I will usually climb cut it (it's faster). For harder materials, always conventional mill. I have found this keeps the cutter truier to the actual size, and you will get better tool life.
Stop doing videos
Using a negative number on the tangential extension is neat trick.....thanks for sharing that. Is there a reason why you use the Contour command versus the Chamfer command for putting chamfers on edges....???
I use both. But I have found that contour gives me more control over my settings.
So could you use this technique for doing 3D chamfers on complex multi angle surfaces…?@@machinistmade784
Detent.
Great video series. I liked most that you shared real life values used in your shop. I too have a low HP mill and was good to have some parameters to use.
'promosm' 💯
109 buck is you catch it on sale. The read out of amps and what it generates isn't TRUE. Put you an AMP clamp on it. You having to turn it up to 90 to get 70 is about right.
What was your reason for turning off the lead in and lead out for your facing op?
No real reason. I just prefer not to use it on a face mill.
@@machinistmade784 It’s nice to have the vertical radii on so it keeps a smooth motion and doesn’t have to slow down for the direction change.
@Mechanical Advantage completely agree. But I have trained A LOT of new operators, and it scares them. Lol, they see a big tool approach a part and suddenly it starts diving towards the part they just loaded 🤣. Also if the saw man is off (part to long), it can actually cause an issue with the face mill hitting and kicking the part up.
Here is my like. I love seeing different folks teach Fusion. As a product manager my direct role is the features we ship. BUT, the truth is, content like this is part of the complete value of Fusion.
Hello infinite machining, i was wondering if you could please show us how to do operation 2 set up. Thank you!!
The video went up yesterday.
I’d like to see that number 21 drill feeding at 70 IPM. HSS or carbide?
Solid Carbide Coolant Thru.
Thank you for the clear end well explanation , Keep up downloading your tutorial's.
You are welcome!
Thank you Your videos are helping me learn Fusion 360.
I'm glad to hear that.
In set up tab why would the stock fixed size value ever change?
It only changes based on the size of the stock you chose to make the part out of. Example: I have 3 X 2 stock on the shelf but not enough of it.... But I also have 3 X 3 as well. I could produce this part with both stocks, and not order material from a material supplier.
Nice to see something updated. Good explanation.
What a neat pipe wrench!
I don't get the whole this brand us better this is worse. I work as a mechanic. I started off with makita power tools and it was before lithium ion. I still have them and they work I just dont use them anymore. It's like a car buy what's best for you. I switched to dewalt due to the variety of tools they have and are easier and cheaper to find vs makita. I am hard on tools both been great brands.
I honestly don't really have a brand preference. But I know a lot of people that do........... I don't get it?
@@machinistmade784 I mean I understand it buying top quality stuff. But what I don't like is the ohh I got dewalt which is better than you ryobi. Not everyone can afford higher named brand stuff. If it works for the job then who cares. I worked with a guy that said makita was inferior to his dewalt stuff. I had makita at the time. I had a weaker ah battery and same style tool. My makita out ran his dewalt he b.c was actually complaining about it. I only left makita because they did no make a battery powered grease gun. I service forklifts and have bad carpal tunnel in both wrist plus bv ad shoulders. So I needed one and dewalt was on sale. A year later makita came out with a grease gun. Little too late I found almost all my batteries and tools at the local pawn shop. Some were still in the original packaging and never used. I have doubled of stuff because I wanted the batteries and the tool was attached. I got things I haven't used and nay never use it.
Probably going to have to replace them in 2 years haha

As kids we would find all kinds of random things in the woods. Later we found out that is where a serial killer would take his victims and do what he does.
Well.....that sucks.
No chip breaker on the flute?
Nope, just a good old cleveland twist drill.
That's a hell of an argument.
Looks great! Quite a project R u going to build?
Not real sure. Got tired of all the snakes lol. But a building would be a good idea.
I dont use a regular drill often but prefer my m18. What i hate about m12 is the batteries
100% agree.
Operator error
@@adamgroves1188 They dont even stand up on their own unless you use the big batteries. Then the tabs break when you drop them. I loved my M12 screwdriver the brushed and then the fuel. Why'd i get rid of the fuel? Not the battery but because the tirgger started to fail, then the gears started grinding. I use Dewalt 12v screwdriver and impacts now. Would never go back.
@Rorchlin I have never had any issues I take care of my tools no hating on Dewalt decent tool
@@rch5991 no hate towards makita either
