Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is impactful because it was about the dark side of Romanticism. The original subtitle is "Or the Modern Prometheus." Prometheus aimed for the romantic ideal, reaching for what was out of the hands of humans, taking fire from the gods but paying dearly for it. Victor got so obsessed with creating life, reaching for that fire, that he never considered the ethics of what happens if he succeeded. He created a living, breathing, feeling and thinking being, and he was horrified and abandoned this creation. Showing no patience, love, purpose, education, or anything. Denied its humanity, the creature felt that others' life and humanity did not matter. We see this come up with the topics of childbirth and even eventual sentient AI. If created for the heck of it, or just as a tool, what reason would these beings have to see the humanity in us? This ending is silly but heartwarming because like Frederick says, it will be the greatest contribution since the creation of fire, a little nod to Prometheus possibly, because he took responsibility, showed empathy to a creature who had no one else to teach him. Creator took responsibility for his creation.
The guy fucks his wife, and when he's confronted about it, he delivers a sick burn to her cuckold husband so hard that HE DIES from being verbally destroyed. Every single screenplay written by Stanley Kubrick, without fail, is absolutely over the top bonkers.

Nobody ever talks about the great performance by Peter Boyle as the Monster. RIP.
They just did.
He can't love 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The muttering before he says it...
Good job Peter RIP
He looks like a giga chad norm MacDonald
I never realized how much he yelled in this movie. 😂
Bad @ss!!!!
This scene is subconscious instructions for self actualization. I do not think it was done intentionally. Dr Frankenstein must confront the worst parts of himself ( the monster), and say “ despite a person’s flaws, everyone has a transcendental potential to achieve greatness”. The next part of the instructions being to put your potential to use. He tells the monster he is going to teach him to think, and talk, and walk, and make a contribution to science. He then casts off his mispronounced name in an act of self actualization , exclaiming “ My name is Frankenstein!”. Those are the instructions. 1. Acknowledge your potential despite you flaws 2. Put it to good use 3. This will lead to a proud, and fulfilled identity.
the closest this film has to a dramatic moment.
Plus you can see Rays dad as the Monster... even funnier
Lmao 1:31 to 1:55 🤣🤣🤣
RIP Teri Garr and Marty Feldman and Cloris leachman and Peter Boyle and Gene Wilder
RIHP Teri Garr, Marty Feldman, Cloris Leachman, Peter Boyle, Gene!
RIP Teri. This movie is my favorite! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This movie is 50 years old now, unbelievable...One of the best ever.
This film is infinitely better than the glitzy 2021 one!

Hello handsome
Oerhört mäktig scen. Bäste Allan Edwall.
Frank Middlemass - a great actor. The difference in character between his part here as Sir Charles and Albert Lyons the fishmonger in Upstairs Downstairs couldn't be wider.
SUE WAS GORGEOUS!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Kubrick's direction is genius in how he makes Humbert seem even older and out of touch with the times when he's reading classic poetry. Meanwhile, Lolita sounds like any sassy teenage girl from today, bored to death, with an attention span of -10.
Sue Lyon. 14 years old. Amazing.
She's acutely aware of her power over him and moreover he's very good-looking.
He's VERY old. Not good looking. He looks 60.
Sue Lyon and Shelly Winters would beg to differ.@@audreythomas9028
A pretty woman never gets dull
You'd think that a xenomorph was about to burst through his chest.
Beautiful.like a Cruikshank come to life.
What a boring scene. Boyd's fake accent is terrible.
Boyd was an Irishman. His widely used fake American accent was excellent.
A mother angel 😅😅😅😅
Was' asthmatic harrumphing' always part the defining 'body- language' of the British upper-classes?
One of my favorite movies. What a stellar cast. I remember seeing the description for HUD in the tv guide “Texas cattle rancher’s son acts rotten” Yep, guess that about sums it up 😅
Dónde ecuetro está película me fascina y la he buscado y no la encuentro
That camera shot on the beginning was so sick!
This is one of my absolute favorite movies! I also love Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison from this era!
Oscar worthy.
Pure acting.
This makes me think of Martin Short's spoof of Jerry Lewis: Live on the Champs-Élysées when he says to his musical director, "Louie, this is a nice audience? This is a GOOD audience? They make me feel good... a lot... and I am a tired, tired little boy." Jerry Lewis must have hated the sketch so much because it makes him look like a pompous ass and a clown.
Rick was used. sad and breaks my heart
The barber cracks me up. He appears to be so proud of his masterpiece...a one peso cut.
Would YOU go to a barber who didn't take pride in his work? 😅
@@scottl.1568 Well, I wouldn't go to THAT barber. The whole haircut scene is for comic relief.
A very good and cool haircut @@ronaldbarnes3327
when his ranch died he did. that was his whole life.

good for LON. he kept it simple.Patricia did too, HUD blew everything , and ended up alone as he should be.
too bad it actually happens at the end of this story and not thebeginning, so we would know how everyone became the way they were.
