Resolve Projection Mapping Guide | Part 5: Corner Pinning Basics
Thanks for the tuts! I'm trying this now and at the 4:40 where you add the facade, mines seems to be blank. It's saved as a png file. When I drag it to nodes from the media pool, then connect it to the merge I don't see it. Any idea why?
@@vurcz_da_vigilant2622 Look for the ResolvedHomeProjections Facebook group. I can help you over there if you include some screen shots.
Another way you can check where the issue might be is by selecting each merge node along the limb and hitting 1 on your keyboard to put the preview in the first viewer window. Start at the far left, review that first merge, and then work your way toward the trunk. You may have put your façade behind something inadvertently.

Anyone seeing any lockup issues with Proto V2 in Davinci 19.1?
@@toddbecker5307 I haven't tested since upgrading but look for updates from Patrick Sterling. He may have updated it to work with 19.1
Can you use Ms paint to draw out your mapping? Some reason the software suggested won’t install on my laptop.😂
@@richardcain1681 I haven't used this yet but intend to next fall to try it out. It's web based and from Phillips projections. Same rules would still apply. Match your resolution to your native projector and make sure the display is at 100% before creating your map. Your end file must match the resolution of your projector. holidayprojectionmapping.com/template-creator/
These tutorials are amazing. I was able to create a simple show for Halloween this year. Now to start on the Christmas show
@@ericorcutt2882 If you have it uploaded somewhere I'd love to see it.
@ResolvedHomeProjections i tagged you! I have a question. I have surfaces that need a corner pin node but aren't large enough to warrant an entire dedicated branch. Is there a way to filter media through 2 separate corner pins. Im just trying to minimize the number of limbs.
@@ericorcutt2882 What I like about Fusions node system is that you can connect one node to multiple nodes. So yes you could have a video that you connect to two different corner pins. Just don't have the corner pins connected to each other. I do touch on that later in the build series. I would still recommend doing it as a limb though. The way I build out the fusion tree is meant to avoid a lot of issues I experienced when I was trying to figure things out over the past few years. I can't even remember what they all were but this setup I'm showing grew out of a necessity to prevent issues. I think's its better to have it and not need it then to not have it at all. If that makes sense.
Wonderful job! I love all the vocals and sound effects.👻🎃🪦 And dancing skeletons!
Love! Where is the talking pug?!
Probably a silly question but once you make the facade, how to you make it a video file to project on the house?
@@vurcz_da_vigilant2622 I have a playlist on the channel about everything you need to do if your using Davinci Resolve.
import the photo and place it over your map.
Also use chatgpt for most any queistion instant response
I LOVED this! Dumb question, but which show/movie did you get the rotoscope of mickey in the tux doing his hand gestures? I"d like to give it a try.
@@RoyGregorio Symphony Hour 1942. It's not on Disney Plus or anything but when you watch it you'll see why.
Nice work!
Great job!
Awesome job!
You always seem to have a solution for something I've been tinkering with. I'm working on a video featuring the Witches Road song from Agatha All Along, with famous movie, TV & cartoon witches laid over some spooky backgrounds, using a keyframed blend to make them fade in and out will work perfectly!
@@saracurry2673 I love that idea and can't wait to see it.
Trying to find video where you talk about the blackout layer
@@toddbecker5307 the very next video has it. Finishing your template.
@ResolvedHomeProjections watched this video a few times and FINALLY noticed the optional beer can! Great series!
Cringe ai voice but good tutorial i suppose
Wow.
Very well done. Especially appreciated how the dancing skeletons weren't in perfect sync with each other, made it look more realistic as opposed one image that was simply cloned.
I can't take credit for that. That's the folks at AtmosFX and their silly skeletons decoration.
Great job. Where in the heck did you put the projectors? They must be short throws?
Yes, short throws with a roughly .5 ratio.
@@ResolvedHomeProjections Did you build weather boxes for them or something?
@@coreybellfaust7468 I did not, if it's raining there is no display for the night
@@ResolvedHomeProjections well it looks great! You've inspired me to give it a go.
Really nice job. In one way I wish you lived across the street because this is really cool. And I would have a front row seat to be able to watch it and all the other neat stuff. In another way I would be devastated and and just say what the heck and throw in the towel out of despair and feelings of inadequacy... But at least I would have something great to watch! LOL. How long did it take to do this? Which projector are you using? Thanks.
3-4 months to build this one while putting tutorials together for this year.
@@ResolvedHomeProjections Once again, great show. I have need to catch up on your tutorials. Thanks for making them.
Love it!
@@darinelmoreno9824 and I love you buddy.
Outstanding! Your timing is excellent and the use of your house structure is perfect! I have really enjoyed your tutorials for Resolve video editor. I currently use Pinnacle editing software for my Halloween and Christmas shows and your Resolve tutorials have helped me tremendously. I am currently re-designing my show with DaVinci. Thank you so much for all your hard work.
@@thehouseonranchdrive You're most welcome. I'd love to see your show when it's done.
Will you share your file to me?
I don’t think it would work for your house unless you have the exact same house as him and have the projectors in the exact same place
Thanks for the advice on FaceBook! It makes better sense now! Still have a bunch of playing
Looks amazing 🤩
This is great! What kind of projector are you using for this?

You Have The Best Videos I have found on RUclips Great Tutorial Series ...! ! ! I have subscribed and gave you thumbs up... ! ! ! I am having a issue with getting my house mask to show up and have the video being within the mask layer.. I followed every thing in step 1. video and that went smoothly.. But in your step 2. video.. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.. I can not get the video file to play like you after doing the render on to the house mask I have tried over and over and again.. I used the Poly to mask the house picture I added the background color to the mask sand inverted the layer on left screen so they were masked inner and outer.. I am using a JPEG pic of my house to test this whole step by step tutorial.. I will do a complete mask from outside when I am more confident of what I am doing.. Any chance you can connect to my PC and see whats wrong.. I am pretty sure I'm doing everything correctly but not positive if I missed something or have something turned on or turned off.. Its driving me Bananas.. I have started over and over countless times with the same results.. I'm running Ver 19 just like you have.. I can send u connection info if you have time to connect to my PC I use SHOWMYPC.. This is how desperate I am to get a show on my house this year with DAVINCI I have used VPT8 in the past but it crashes my PC so I want to try this out..
Excellent series, very detailed and useful!! Thank you!
Such an awesome show, id really love to put this on my house this year. Have you thought of doing one happily ever after?
I'm not familiar with happily ever after so it would be hard for me to put the same effort into it.
How❤
Thanks! As always, your videos are incredibly helpful and always teach me something new.
@@saracurry2673 you're awesome and I appreciate the support
This is amazing! I really want to learn how to do this! Any advice on how to get started and where to get clips for my own show? I want to do the Disneyland Haunted Mansion for my projection too🙂
I have a couple of playlists that have tutorials to help you get going. My biggest tip is to give yourself permission to take your time while learning. This show took me 10 months to build since it was my first real attempt at a projection show. Fantasmic took longer just because it was an ambitious project. Wow your tutorials are great!!! I dabbled in resolve last Halloween, but did some very basic editing. Your videos have given me a ton of tools for this season and I think I might actually attempt a full house map this year. Thank you!!
Best wishes to you on your attempt.
Where do you get the animations of the characters without the background? Like for example Mickey or Maleficent and also all the characters in the finale as well. How were you able to get the animations and put it onto your own background?
